Fleeing Blue Stone City (2)

Seeing her coming out, little Evan rushed over, hitting Anna’s leg with his small fist, crying: “Bad Anna!”

Anna held little Evan’s fist and pushed him to Adele. Like little Evan, Adele looked at Anna with a strange and confused expression.

Anna helped Gaea up and walked her outside the house. At the moment, most people in Pomegranate Lane were working and no one was outside.

Anna placed Gaea on the ground, stuffed the three gold coins she had saved into her hands, and tearfully said into her ear: “Mama, I helped Young Master Parrish and he secretly gave these three gold coins to me. No one else knows. You hide it well, don’t let others take it away. Sorry, I have to do this so they will believe that you are not on the same side as me. After the house burns down, find a place where no one knows you. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely come back to see you in the future, I promise.”

Seeing that Adele and Evan both followed them out, and there was already smoke coming out of the room, Anna fiercely said to Adele: “Adele, you are not allowed to call someone to put out the fire, got it?!”

Anna knew that Adele was a smart little girl, and she deliberately said this to remind Adele to find someone to put out the fire, as she could not implicate the houses of the people around her.

Then Anna left without looking back.

In fact, she knew from the very beginning that it was unrealistic to take her family away with her.

But how could she run away and leave them to fend for themselves?

Even if hope was slim, she wanted to try.

However, Gaea’s reaction awakened her from her fantasy. Instead of taking them on a dangerous and futureless journey, it was better to draw a line separating them, so that they could live safely.

So, she deliberately injured Gaea and burned down their family house, just to let the people of the Vatican know that she and her family were not on the same side. Once she escaped, there would be rumors spreading in Pomegranate Lane. Therefore, it was the best choice for her family to live in another place after their house was gone.

Anna returned to the ruins. Dubian did not see her family behind Anna. He saw her red eyes and quickly understood something.

“They won’t come with us, let’s go.” Anna said. She had already delayed and was very anxious.

Dubian wasn’t one to procrastinate either. He covered his face with a hood. Although this was also very eye-catching, there was no other way. If he took off his hood, the dark lines on his face would be even more eye-catching.

The two walked exclusively in the remote alley and soon came to the gates of the city.

Anna rarely came here after transmigrating. She and Dubian observed the surroundings for a while, and saw the soldiers guarding the city gate just standing lazily, too lazy to take a look at the civilians who entered and exited. As such, they were relieved.

But to be safe, she made Dubian hunch over like an old man and taught him to cough while walking, while she held his arm like an old man’s granddaughter.

This could also explain why he wore clothes that covered his whole body, because he was sick, and most people were afraid of and tended to avoid sick people. In this world, sickness was often equivalent to being sentenced to death, and no one wanted to be unlucky to be infected.

So when Anna helped Dubian walk outside the city gate, there was an empty space  around her; everyone avoided them.

Anna thought the matter in the earl’s mansion probably hadn’t ended yet, which was why there was no movement at all now.

They could definitely escape!

The two left Blue Rock City safely. The environment outside Blue Rock City was completely unfamiliar to Anna.

And Dubian, who fled all the way to Blue Rock City, knew more about the surrounding environment than Anna.

The two didn’t say anything at first, just rushed on the road. After leaving Blue Rock City, the nearest to Blue Rock City were a few scattered villages. The two only stopped to rest until they walked a few miles away and entered a forest.

“Dubian, I don’t know anything about the outside of Blue Stone City. Can you tell me about the situation?” The two were sitting under a tree. Anna’s eyes were no longer red at this time. “For example, do you have any ideas about which direction to escape to?”

At present, Anna’s knowledge of the outside of Blue Stone City was only that this area belonged to the duchy of Engeli. The nearest city with Mage Association was Green Pine City. There may be demonic creatures in the environment outside the city, but she had never seen them with her own eyes. Demonic creatures didn’t seem to attack the city.

“I had an agreement with my teacher that if we got separated, we would meet in a village ten miles from Black Feather City.” Dubian said, “By foot, we can get there in about a month.”

As Dubian spoke, he drew a very simple map on the ground, with the Vatican in the center. The Principality of Engeli was south of the Vatican, and Blue Stone City was south of the south. It was located southwest of the Principality of Engeli, not far from the border.

And Black Feather City was to the west of Blue Stone City; it was another territory of the Duchy of Franceville. The two principalities were next to each other, and their folk customs were similar. In areas like the Mage Association, each principality was similar, and organizations such as churches were dispatched by the Vatican.

After Anna left Blue Rock City, she was without family, completely on her own. There was nowhere to go. She could only go wherever Dubian went.
