Battle For Her (2)

Although Natalie knew how to gather wind, she had no experience in climbing trees. When Anna was practicing just now, she only cheered and applauded. At this moment, Anna pulled Natalie to her side, chose the tallest tree, and together, got onto a thick and sturdy tree branch, hidden in the canopy.

Seeing that the two of them had hid well, Rothgarr also looked for a tree up ahead and climbed up. After a while, about a dozen demonic creatures of different types appeared in his field of vision. They seemed to have gone crazy, chasing each other as they ran.

Rothgarr glanced at them. The strongest of these demonic creatures were only around the same level as a three-star mage. They were only two-headed and had low IQs. The rest were equivalent to the level of a one-star and two-star mage. If he encountered them alone as Raymond, he might not have been able to kill them all, but he would have no problem escaping intact.

But now, there were two oil bottles*.

[T/N: oil bottles is an internet slang used to refer to children from a previous marriage; Rothgarr uses it here to say that Anna and Natalie are two unwanted burdens.]

Rothgarr glanced at the tree where Anna and Natalie were hiding. Of course, he couldn’t let anything happen to Anna. Whether he could complete the bet was all up to her.

He noticed at this time that there was actually a human among those demonic creatures.

No, that human being was currently being chased by the demonic creatures.

This was a very unreasonable scene.

Demonic creatures have always refused to cross the death line unless there was an extremely strong and irresistible reason, such as the three-headed magic eagle threatened by Balan last time. As for this situation, it was most likely due to that human being being chased right now that caused these demonic creatures to actually cross the line of life and death.

Rothgarr had always hated people who made trouble for himself. When he saw that the human being was familiar to him, he regretted that he didn’t directly destroy the person in the ring that day.

The person who was being chased by demonic creatures and fled in embarrassment was Hansen York, the three-star mage who challenged Rothgarr to a battle and ended up  being beaten up very badly.

Hansen had used magic to increase his speed to the limit, but the demonic creatures were still chasing after him. He only barely managed to run fast enough to not fall into the demonic creatures’ claws and be torn apart.

At this moment, he used a detection spell and felt a mage ahead of him. The presence of a mage meant he was saved!

Hansen ran for a while more when suddenly, a golden arrow flew out towards him. Being chased by demonic creatures meant that his attention was very concentrated, so the golden arrow did not escape his notice. He dodged sideways, and the arrow pierced through the eyes of a demonic creature; the creature roared and fell down, tripping the two demonic creatures behind it.

Hansen broke out in a cold sweat from fear. Did that mage want to kill him?

A stern voice sounded from ahead of him: “You’d best run in a different direction, otherwise I will kill you before those demonic creatures can!”

Hansen identified Raymond’s voice. Although he was itching with hatred in his heart, he still shouted: “The members of the association have the obligation to help each other!”

Two golden arrows shooting towards him in tandem was Rothgarr’s response to him.

But this time, Hansen, who was almost at his limit, was not so lucky. Although he barely avoided the first arrow, the second arrow nicked his shoulder. He staggered and awkwardly dodged the demonic creatures who leapt up from behind him, his heart in his throat.

He rolled aside and dodged another demonic creature. From his pocket, he took out a small packet of powder wrapped in paper, and condensed the gold element into an arrow shape in his hand. He stuck the ball of paper to the head of the arrow, and sent the arrow out using mental power.

Rothgarr sneered when he saw an arrow fly over. Just as he was about to stop it, the arrow suddenly reversed course and exploded in mid-air.

“What’s that!”

The powder exploded all over Anna and Natalie. Anna hurriedly used the Wind Gathering Technique to blow the powder off the two of them and sent it to the ground.

The two of them hid well, so they couldn’t see clearly what was happening outside. The tree canopy also helped them a little bit, otherwise there would be more powder on their bodies.

After Hansen threw out the powder, he didn’t have the energy to care about anything else. He sloppily dodged the attacks of the demonic creatures, but most of them abandoned him and rushed to the place where the powder had exploded just previously.

Originally, Rothgarr didn’t know what substance was on Hansen’s golden arrow. But when he saw many of the demonic creatures running straight to where he was, how could he not understand?

Killing intent flashed in his mind, but this wasn’t the time to pick a fight with Hansen. He quickly backtracked and landed on the tree where Anna and Natalie were hiding. He grabbed Anna’s arm and started to leave.
