Pledge to Marry? (2)

After standing steady, Rothgarr turned his head and frowned at Anna, surprised and suspicious.

Anna looked concerned and said sincerely: "Mage Raymond, look at how serious your injury is. Why don’t you let Mage Leon stop the bleeding first. I don't want you to have an accident before returning to Black Cloud City."

Rothgarr met Anna’s worried eyes and couldn't help staying silent.

As he expected, Anna's attitude towards him was much more intimate than before, but... obviously he should be happy, but he felt some inexplicable unhappiness.

Seeing that the demon did not object anymore, Anna regarded this as him giving tacit approval. She helped him sit down under the tree, and said to Leon: "Mage Leon, I’ll have to trouble you*."

[T/N: “you” is said with honorifics.]

Leon nodded: "The members of the association should help each other, this is nothing."

When Anna heard what Leon said, she couldn't help thinking of the mage who had harmed them to such levels. She asked: "If an association member harmed another, would there be a punishment?"

"Yes. Report to the committee and the committee will make a ruling." Leon replied. He squatted down and pressed a hand superficially on Rothgarr's wound.

Anna was afraid that the demon would go back on his word and fight with Leon, so she hurriedly squatted down on the side as well.

The demon looked at her coldly. Watching him for a while, he didn’t seem to have an intent to do anything.

Anna thought for a while. She took out a clean cotton handkerchief and gently wiped off the blood splashed on the demon's face.

Rothgarr felt Anna's gentle movements. He furrowed his brows and saw Raymond's blood-stained face reflected in her pupils. In that moment, the irritability in his heart did not decrease, but increased.

Leon glanced at them, then lowered his head to concentrate on using the Holy Healing technique.

On the tree next to the three of them, Natalie hugged the trunk tightly. She hesitated for a while, but still did not speak.

It was great that Anna was okay; they were saved!

Although... they seemed to have forgotten about her, but up here on the tree was safe, she should stay a little longer, after all... she couldn’t get down by herself... Waaa!

There were many wounds on Rothgarr's body, and Leon simply treated the larger wounds to stop the bleeding, lest he lose too much blood before returning to the city.

"Thank you, Mage Leon. Fortunately, you are here." Anna said gratefully.

Rothgarr didn't like to listen to these words, and said coldly: "You would have been fine without him."

Anna thought to herself, Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't have been killed by demonic creatures, but I would have to face your real form. I would suffer, and you would suffer, too.

Leon was very magnanimous, and gave no thought to his comment. He got up and said: "I'll send you guys back to the city. Did you come out here in a carriage?"

"Yes, the carriage is waiting outside the woods." Anna was a little embarrassed, "Did we interrupt your* task? We can just go back by ourselves."

[T/N: “your” is said with honorifics.]

"It's okay, I'll bring you to where the carriage is." Leon said.

Anna hurriedly thanked him, and walked in the direction of the carriage with the demon, whose face was full of irritation.

At this moment, a weak, pitiful and helpless voice sounded from above: "Anna, I–I’m still on the tree, I can't get down!"

Anna was taken aback. She held the demon with one hand, and quickly used her other, free hand to gather the wind elements. She said to Natalie in embarrassment: "I'm so sorry, Natalie, I forgot at the moment... You prepare yourself, I will help you come down."

"En! I'm ready!"

As soon as Natalie's voice rang out, Anna brought Natalie down the tree with her already prepared, foolproof wind gathering technique.

Anna apologized again for a while, and the group walked to the place where the carriage was parked.

Natalie followed, not at all angry at being forgotten after they were safe. Because during those most dangerous moments, Anna did not let go of her hand even once.

The four quickly found the two carriages parked outside the woods. Leon accompanied them there, bid farewell, and left. Anna watched Leon's back. When she turned around, she found that the demon had already gotten into the carriage by himself.

She felt like the demon was angry. Is it because Leon took away a bit of his credit? After all, the demon’s goal was always her soul, and everything he was doing now was to get in her good graces so that she would agree to the marriage proposal. Now that her favor was split by Leon, he must be upset.

Anna whispered a few words to Natalie, then walked to the demon's carriage. She knocked on the door, and after waiting a few seconds, she opened the door and got in.

The demon leaned back on the chair lazily, coldly watching as she entered.

Anna smiled and said: "Mage Raymond, you are injured. I'm afraid that some things will be inconvenient for you, so I will stay with you for a while as we return to the city."

After all, she was not a person with no conscience. No matter what the demon did it for, it was a fact that he was hurt to this degree because of her, so it was her obligation to take care of him on the way back to the city.

Rothgarr frowned and asked, "Why do you use honorifics with Leon?"

This completely irrelevant question stunned Anna. She thought for a while and said: "Thank you* very much for your help this time, Mage Raymond, if you* have any needs, please let me know."

[T/N: Both “you”’s are said with honorifics.]

Inequality rather than want is the cause of trouble. If he liked honorifics so much, then she would satisfy him; she didn’t care anyway.

Anna's words put Rothgarr in a very bad mood. Leon was disagreeable to his eyes, and Anna's attitude towards Leon was also unpleasant to him. He didn’t think before asking her this question. It was not so much a question as it was picking a quarrel.

Hearing Anna's respectful and alienated words at the moment, he felt terrible all over.

This kind of strong contrast made him suddenly understand that Anna was closer to him, so she didn’t need to be respectful.

Realizing this fact, Rothgarr, whose mood had not been great ever since Leon appeared, suddenly felt a lot better.

He remembered that Anna said to tell her if he had any needs. Rothgarr thought that today’s events should be enough for him to achieve his goal. Coupled with the faint unease in his heart, he asked her without thinking: "Well, are you willing to marry me?"

Anna: “......”

She said very firmly: "No."

Seeing the demon's face sink because of her answer, she thought she should teach him what it is like to pursue a girl. Of course, this was to prevent him from thinking about changing bodies again, such as ruining Teacher Leon's body, etc……

She lowered her tone and said, "Mage Raymond, you are too impatient. Although I am grateful that you saved me and Natalie, we don't know each other at all. How could I accept such a rushed marriage proposal?"

Her remarks were coaxing and guiding. She wanted to tell this demon that he wouldn’t be able to eat hot tofu with an impatient heart*; he had to go slowly. Wouldn’t she buy some more time this way?

[T/N: Idiom that means “patience is a virtue”; the story behind the idiom is that without sufficient heat and time, it is hard for raw tofu to become fully cooked. It means if you are impatient, you won’t get what you want. You must follow the proper procedures and planning.]
