ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER CHAPTER. Wheeeeee. Thank you Ms. Hazellun, this chapter is out at this time thanks to you hahaha. I really appreciate the support and compliments  /shy/ /blush/

The dishes Ji Sui cooked were delicious, and Zhao Yu’s appetite increased just by looking at it.

She didn’t eat much at the Xue family’s house the night before. Today, she skipped lunch because she went to the hospital and only had a small breakfast. She was currently unbearably hungry.

But in this situation, she needed to pretend that she didn’t want to eat anything to stay in character. Thinking of this, she can’t help but sigh inwardly. Having acted all day she was more than tired.

Seeing the table full of delicious food, she hesitated in her heart. She then decided to change strategies. Without saying a word, she picked up the tableware and gulped down mouthful after mouthful of rice.

Seeing her overeating to turn her grief and anger into strength, Ji Sui became even more worried, but he couldn’t do anything except tell her to eat slowly.

After the meal, Zhao Yu felt that the energy used over the last two days of acting had finally been made up, but the acting had to continue, so she took the initiative to clean up the dishes.

Knowing that she needed to stay occupied, Ji Sui just let her go and let her keep busy in the kitchen alone. Who would’ve thought that after tidying up the kitchen, she would start mopping the floor in the living room?

Ji Sui couldn’t stop her, and in the end, the two of them cleaned together. After they cleaned the whole house, it was already past ten at night.

Zhao Yu said apologetically, “Can this bit of manual labor count as paying to stay with you for one night?”

Ji Sui smiled. “You don’t have to do anything and stay.”

“I always trouble you. If I don’t do anything, I’ll feel too bad to ask.”

Ji Sui was amused by her again, and after a while, he suddenly remembered something. “Tomorrow will you…still go to work?”

It was a Sunday, but because of the need to make up for the Spring Festival holiday in advance, it was a legal working day.

Zhao Yu shook his head. “Not going anymore.”

Ji Sui was not a good talker. Seeing her with a bitter and sad face, even though he wanted to comfort her, he knew that it wouldn’t make a difference. After a moment of silence, he could only say one sentence: “Rest early.”

Zhao Yu slept too much during the day and didn’t sleep much that night. She was planning the next course in her head and didn’t fall asleep until after three o’clock in the morning.

And that night, Ji Sui, who slept next to her, suffered insomnia for some reason.

Another victim of insomnia was Xue Ziang, who stayed in the old Xue family villa with his grandfather to celebrate his birthday.

At the break of dawn, Xue Ziang got up from the bed, washed quickly, and drove straight to the company.

This was the first time in his entire work history he came to the office so early. When he arrived at the company, the doors to the office building had not been opened yet.

He couldn’t wait to see Zhao Yu. He was still looking forward to her coming to work. However, when he logged into the company system, he discovered that Zhao Yu had applied to resign since early morning yesterday.

She was resigning?

Did she mean to avoid him completely?

She unexpectedly didn’t even give him a chance?

The hand resting on the mouse trembled involuntarily, the five fingers clenched and unclenched multiple times with the cursor hovering on the “Agree” button for a long time. But he couldn’t click it.

In the end, he gritted his teeth and rejected her application for resignation.

He was Zhao Yu’s immediate supervisor. As long as he disagreed with it, she could not continue the resignation process.

He knew that this would anger her even more, but he had no choice.

For him to not see again her in the future, was an absolute impossibility.

When Zhao Yu received the email, she had just woken up on Ji Sui’s guest bed and was not surprised to see the result.

If there was a possibility of Xue Ziang agreeing to her resignation application, she wouldn’t have dared to take such a risk.

Logging in to the system on her mobile phone, she soon submitted another resignation application, but as expected, she was immediately rejected.

Not wanting to play this kind of game with him like a child, she put down her phone and turned over to continue to sleep, but it didn’t take long before Xia Nan called.

One glance at the caller ID and Zhao Yu knew that Xue Ziang must have ordered the call. Sure enough, Xia Nan’s first sentence was, “Sister Zhao Yu, did you forget to go to work today? You didn’t ask for leave, this is considered absenteeism. Right.”

Zhao Yu laughed. “I have resigned, what is absenteeism?”

“Why are you resigning? You fought with Mr. Xue?”

“It wasn’t a fight, it was a breakup.”

Xue Ziang, who listened to the conversation through the speakerphone cast his eyes down.

But Zhao Yu continued; “Actually, it was not a breakup.”

Xue Ziang was overjoyed. Just as he was about to grab the phone and talk himself, he heard her self-deprecating voice: “In his heart, I may have never even been a girlfriend. How can it be called a breakup? What is the right do I have to say that?”

“Zhao Yu…” Xue Ziang just started speaking when the other side hung up.

Trembling in fear, Xia Nan held her mobile phone tremblingly and looked at her unsightly boss. “Mr. Xue…” 1

He closed his eyes, clenched his fists, and took several deep breaths. Xue Ziang barely calmed down his emotions and said in a deep voice, “Using your name, think of a way to make her come, but if that doesn’t work. Tell her if she doesn’t come to the company, I will fire you. She will definitely come for you.”

Xia Nan: “…”

After returning to her apartment, Zhao Yu received another call from Xia Nan.

“Sister Zhao Yu, I accidentally sprained my foot during lunch. The doctor said that I should not move for at least a week, but I have to perform at the annual meeting the day after tomorrow. Can you do it for me? I can’t think of anyone else that can do it. In any case, you know the script and thankfully, you’ve watched us rehearse. You just need to fill in for me for a while, please?”

Naturally, Xia Nan was not blunt enough to simply use Xue Ziang’s “threat tactic”. After all, even an idiot knew that would only add fuel to the flame. But she also knew how flimsy her lie was. It would be strange if Zhao Yu couldn’t see through it.

So she can only hope that Zhao Yu was willing to accommodate her and walk the path she paved, giving Xue Ziang a chance.

For large companies like Huacan, the annual meeting was very grand. Although it will not be broadcasted live, it was necessary to take photos and post a draft for publicity. It was hard to tell if Zhuang Yiqing would pay attention to the annual meeting of rival companies on a whim, so Zhao Yu rejected all host work and performances. She only planned to be a silent participant, hiding in the crowd in a low-key manner.

The show Xia Nan was supposed to take part in was a stage play organized by the secretarial management department. She didn’t have many scenes or lines. To have a comedic effect, she needed to put on exaggerated makeup. Her real face would be completely covered up. Even if she was photographed for the news, there would be no risk of exposure.

After serious consideration, Zhao Yu said, “Fine then, you can send me a video of your rehearsal, along with the script and lines. I will not go to the company to rehearse with you.”

Since Xue Ziang tried so hard to see her, let him. She didn’t plan on leaving Huacan anyway.

Hearing this answer, Xia Nan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Xue Ziang, who had been sitting next to her listening in on the phone call, was also relieved.

If she refused again, all he could do would be to stand guard at the door of her apartment.

1 战战兢兢 Lit. Trembling before a war. Just thought it was cool this Chinese version of trembling in fear actually referred to fighting in a war/battle.
