Merlin's eyes became frenzied as he took out the gun, but Nathasia noticed it and turned her head around to see that Merlin was holding her gun.

Seeing that he was found out, he decided to fire at the girl first.

*Bang!*

"Ugh!"

But Damien quickly reacted as he pushed away Nathasia but got hit in the shoulder. Still, he quickly raised his gun and…

*PEW!*

The shot of a silenced gun echoed as Merlin's brains got punctured, making him drop dead to the ground instantly.

"Aaah!!"

Linda screamed upon seeing her husband die but immediately stifled her cries upon seeing Damien looking murderously at her.

The lighter was still in his hand, but for some reason, he finally kept it back inside his pocket as he walked away and said to Nathasia, "Come, let's go. We are done here."

Nathasia was shocked by the sudden turn of events as she didn't expect Merlin to sneakily take her gun in between.

Seeing Damien walk away, she apologetically stared at his back, knowing that he took a bullet for her.

She undid the bindings on the mother and son before following Damien out.

She was also inwardly happy that Damien decided not to kill the mother and son, which was proof enough that he was not completely lost in the darkness.

This made her more determined to make sure that she could make him happy again.

But seeing his shoulder bleeding, she tore out a piece of her cloth and stood before him, "L-Let me tie up your wound for you. It isn't good to let it bleed."

"It doesn't matter," Damien said in an impassive tone as he tried to walk past her.

But Nathasia definitely stood before him again and said defiantly, "No. You have to tie it up lest you lose too much blood. Let me do it for you."

Damien felt annoyed and wanted to push her away, but he just couldn't find the energy because of how tired and exhausted he was.

Nathasia quickly tied the piece of cloth around his injury and came out of the mansion.

Damien searched for a car in the garage and was about to get into the driver seat when Nathasia offered, "Let me drive. You are injured, and you should take rest. It's not safe to drive like this."

Damien's eyes were drowsy, and before he could even reply, Nathasia had already gotten onto the driver's seat, and he sighed as he got onto the shotgun seat.

As Nathasia drove off with the help of a map kept in the car, she asked in a low voice, "Why did you want to kill his family as well?"

Damien, who was resting his head against the window, stared at her side profile for a while before answering, "Because I wanted him to feel what I did. Not that it matters anymore."

"But would you have felt better by doing it?" Nathasia asked as she stared ahead.

"I don't know...I never expected to feel better...all I wanted was to take revenge…" He then looked outside and said in a firm tone, "And the reason I let go of them was not because of you. It's because Merlin was dead, and there was no point in killing them."

Nathasia softly smiled as she said, "I know. But I am glad that you let them go either way. I know you still have a good heart and—"

"You know nothing! And I am not the person you think I am," Damien snorted, cutting her off in the middle.

Nathasia pinched her lips but didn't say anything anymore as she kept her eyes on the road.

But she pressed her feet on the accelerator quite hard since she was worried about Damien's condition and saw him already dozing off.

She somehow remembered the way they drove through before and was able to reach the warehouse they were staying in.

Seeing Damien still out of it, she opened the door and put his hand over her shoulder as she somehow carried him out of the car.

"Nngh!" Nathasia grunted as she used all her strength despite being injured to carry him inside the warehouse and put him on the sofa.

She was having bruises all over her body, especially when she got hit by Deathclaw in the stomach. And the fatigue she felt from using too much of her powers made her feel numb all over her body.

"I have to take out the bullet…" Nathasia mumbled, but just before she could take the first-aid kit to treat Damien's injury, she dropped to her knees and collapsed on the ground, unconscious.

The exhaustion and fatigue she had been holding back had sunk in completely once she unconsciously let her mind relax.

"Unng...where am I...oh no...the bullet!" Nathasia stirred awake, and just when she tried to get up, she felt her body ache in multiple places.

However, she was surprised to find that she was lying on a sofa with a quilt over her body which was something Damien always used.

"Lie down...you won't recover if you move around too much…"

Hearing the familiar cold voice, Nathasia turned around to see Damien preparing a towel with some ice.

She wondered whether he was trying to prepare an ice pack to treat his wounds on his own and wondered how he was still standing with a bullet in his shoulder.

"The bullet...did you take it out?" She worriedly asked.

"You are not the only one who knows how to take out a bullet…" Damien replied with his back turned towards her.

Nathasia raised her brows, not expecting him to have some medical skills.

She also couldn't understand where he got the ice from. She knew there was a fridge in the warehouse, but without electricity, it was useless.

But then she noticed the lit bulbs on the roof and was surprised to see that the electricity was working.

"How is electricity working here?" She curiously asked.

Damien walked over with an ice pack in his hand and answered, "I happened to find the generator, and all it needed was some fuel."

"Ohh…" Nathasia felt that she should have checked out the generator before as it could have made a lot of things convenient.

However, her eyes flashed with surprise upon seeing Damien walking over to her, his eyes continuing to stare at her.
