The Dying Elor

Damien had a blinking expression hearing Luna's words and seeing Luna's strange smile, he couldn't help but think that something important was happening to Valentina.

"Then I should get out of here. I have been cultivating for too long," Damien said as he got up and inspected himself.

"Master, your cultivation has really made good progress all these months. That dual cultivation art is really helpful," Kallypso said with a satisfied expression.

Luna smirked as she said casually, "Don't forget who gave it to your precious Master."

Kalypso simply showed Luna her tongue, while Damien was also amazed at the results. He knew one of the main specialties of the dual cultivation art was that it would increase the cultivation of his women and himself as long as all of them were cultivating nearby.

Since the dual cultivation art connects them all in a very profound way, such amazing effects take place as well.

And so, Damien flew upwards and descended right before Reva, who already seemed to have just been done with her cultivation.

The two didn't say anything as they appeared before each other and exchanged a warm, loving hug.

"Are you really going to leave now? There is still a lot of heat on you outside," Reva said in her cool yet sweet voice.

Damien nodded with a firm gaze as he said, "I have to. We don't have much time in our hands, and I can't let Ruthren doom our continent. If he wants to die by himself, he is free to do that. But there is no way I am letting him destroy the only safe haven on this planet."

"Then let me come with you. I don't like you going alone," Reva said with a stiff expression as her eyebrows furrowed.

"You know that is something Ruthren must be waiting for. He will do anything to capture you, and the last thing I am going to do is give him a chance. For now, your people need you. They haven't seen you since that battle at the Forsaken base. You are their leader, and I bet we could use the experts among your people for what's coming. And only you can motivate them further. Show them how much you have improved over these months, and their faith in you will only increase even more," Damien said as he looked at his beautiful fairy, who was already at the Heaven Ethereal Realm!

Reva firmly pressed her lips together, but she knew that Damien's words made sense. And right now, they needed people to hold their ground and fight back.

But suddenly, Reva's brows raised as if she heard something shocking, "Oh no…grandfather! Come with me, Damien!" Reva immediately shot into the sky and headed for the cottage.

Damien furrowed his brows as he also followed her right after, wondering what happened to Elor.

The two got inside the cottage only to see Irene sitting beside Elor, who was resting on the bed. But his condition was looking bad, his face was pale, and he seemed to be barely conscious.

Irene's expression was looking dull and sullen as she seemed to be frantically using her ethereal energy to make Elor feel comfortable, though it didn't seem as if it would treat the ailments he was suffering from.

"Grandfather…how long had he been like this…" Reva asked as her expression became soft, and she stood on her knees beside the bed as she scanned his internal system, only to be even more worried to see the condition of his organs.

Irene wiped her eyes as she said, "It was not sudden, but gradually he was becoming sicker and sicker as days passed, and just last month, he ended up like this. I didn't tell any of you since you both were busy cultivating, and Elor himself said to not disturb you both."

"Grandmother…" Reva regretted going into seclusion for this long. She had only met her grandfather for the first time only a few months ago and still didn't get enough time to learn all about him or his interesting stories.

He was the only blood-related family she had other than her grandmother. And seeing him in death's bed like this made her feel like fate was again punishing her for no reason. Wasn't her years of suffering not enough?

"How much time does he have left…" Reva asked in a weak voice, making Irene take a deep breath as she answered, "Maybe a few days at best. He had been holding on to see you and Damien once more, at least. That is what he told me…"

Reva bit her lips as she held Elor's hands, who seemed to slowly stir awake as if it was because he could feel his granddaughter's presence, "R-Reva…" Elor weakly called out with a soft smile as his gaze slowly shifted towards Reva.

"Grandfather…I am sorry…I should have been here earlier…" Reva said as her gaze softened seeing him. She couldn't even cry since her ethereal arts had made her body too cold to react to her emotions.

She could feel emotions, but her body had now become conditioned to not be that responsive to them.

"Reva…meeting you, my granddaughter…had been…one of my biggest…wishes in my…life. Now…I can finally leave…without any regrets…Don't worry…next life…I wish I could be your…grandfather again and be there for you…unlike this life…So I am the one…who should apologize…"

Reva felt her heart wrench and felt as if she lost her voice to say anything.

Elor slowly turned his head towards Irene, who seemed to be barely holding in her emotions, "Irene…we surely had a long journey filled with both pain and happiness…I hope we get a second chance as well…But thank you for giving me the chance to live long enough to meet Reva and Damien…"

Irene firmly pressed lips as she squeezed shut her wet eyes. She couldn't help but feel immensely guilty and regretful about how she treated him in the past, especially not believing him when he needed her the most. She knew she didn't deserve such a loving man, but she also didn't want to let go of him.

Damien couldn't help but feel a tightening sensation in his chest as well. After all, Elor was the first person who treated him like a grandson, and seeing him on his deathbed was affecting Damien in a way he didn't expect.

"Why are you simply standing there like a fool when you can save this old man's life?" Luna's usual chiding tone echoed in Damien's head, much to his shock.
