“What in the world, why are you doing this?!”

Adelaide cried out, screaming. She couldn’t stand the rising anger any longer.

She couldn’t believe she kissed the man who killed Caladium. It was disgusting, so sickening.

It would have been easier for her to just die. She used to be someone who could lower herself and be servile under any circumstances, but not now. She punched him, knowing it would have no effect.

The warrior received her attack head-on. Her long fingernails cut through his skin, but she couldn’t penetrate it. Even the attack that slashed the throat of a mid-level demon at once was nothing more than fuss to the Legend.

[T/N: Will be switching to warrior instead of adventurer.]

“Don’t be annoying. It’s hard to resist wanting to cut your neck right now.”

He released energy as if he was annoyed at her struggling. Adelaide groaned as his energy, which was still overwhelming, filled her surroundings. Her body naturally lost strength.

“It’s not me! I don’t know who you’re looking for—”

‘It’s a misunderstanding!’ She struggled to speak her words as her strength was drained from the suffocating energy. But before she could finish her words, the warrior covered Adelaide’s mouth with a hand. His face, which had been calm for a moment, was once again filled with ferocious hatred. Just looking into his eyes overflowing with hatred was enough to make her whole body tremble.

“That mouth, shut it.”

The warrior looked at Adelaide fiercely and warned her. His eyes showed that he wanted to kill her. No, it seemed to be more than that. To him, her death was just rest, not enough to allay his bitter resentment.

“Ugh!”

“If you didn’t want it to be like this.”

He leaned down and met Adelaide’s gaze. When Adelaide instinctively turned her eyes to avoid it, he forced her to face him and meet his eyes again. Tears welled up as his hand gripped her chin strongly.

“At least you should have remembered me.”

As a single tear fell and wet his hand, the end of the warrior’s voice trembled slightly. The energy fluttered like a fluctuating wave. Adelaide gasped in pain at the suffocating atmosphere. Her head was dizzy from lack of oxygen. The voices of her demons calling out her name from afar became fainter and fainter.

“Me. You should have come to me.”

‘What are you talking about?’ Adelaide’s lips trembled. She didn’t even have the energy to retort. She felt like she was going to die.

But the next words awakened her spirit.

“Isn’t that right, Adela?”

“That was the promise.”

Adelaide stopped breathing at his whispering voice.

‘How does he know my name…?’

Until now, she only thought that the warrior had mistaken her for another demon. Just looking at her hair and the color of her eyes, she thought that he had misunderstood. But he even knew her name exactly. Goosebumps welled up on her skin.

The strange feeling that had been lingering in her chest for a while now, as well as dizziness, rose once again.

Adelaide stared at him again with quivering eyes. His dark hair, blue eyes, and amazingly gorgeous looks… And a promise. For a moment, something came to mind and then disappeared quickly.

‘It can’t be.’

Adelaide bit the inside of her lip. It couldn’t possibly be.

His appearance itself was different. No, it was an impossible idea in the first place. She quickly denied the possibility she had briefly thought of. Because the conditions were clearly different. There was a feeling of discomfort left behind, but she changed her mind.

‘I can’t fall for this crazy man’s trick.’

Just as she was about to shout that she didn’t know him, Adelaide sensed something and stopped her movement.

‘This energy…!’

Amidst the energy of the warrior sweeping through the dungeon, a faintly familiar energy was felt. A warm energy, like a playful flame. When she recognized it, shivers ran through her body. Energy returned to her weak limbs and her eyes became hot.

It didn’t take even a second for the owner of the energy to reach her location.

“You dare-“

A ferocious voice filled the room. At the same time, a warm touch wrapped around Adelaide’s waist.

Kwagwang!!

“Touch someone.”

Red energy flooded. In an instant, the barrier of the warrior was broken and his body was pushed back. The warrior tried to hold Adelaide, but even the arm that had grabbed her fell to the floor with a sound.

“F*ck*ng son of a b*tch.”

It was the first time she welcomed such a cheap way of speaking. Hot tears rolled down her cold cheeks.

Adelaide slowly turned her gaze and looked up at him. She saw a red-haired handsome man. His eyes were opened so wide he looked angrier than ever.

“Caladi!”

The demons welcomed him with joy. Caladium, whom they thought was already dead, had returned unharmed.

Caladium turned his gaze to make sure everyone was safe, and looked at Adelaide. He met her trembling eyes. He groaned for a moment, then quickly embraced her tightly with his muscular arms. His breathing which she could feel through her skin was harsh. She didn’t know what happened, but it looked like he did his best to arrive on time.

“I’m sorry, Adela.”

Caladium hugged her as tight as he could and whispered to her.

“You came too late, really…”

Caladium swallowed his words. The hand sweeping down her back was shaking slightly. The light touch seemed to want atonement.

He didn’t know how worried he was that Adelaide might have been injured, or if any one of them might have suffered something. He would never forgive himself if something had happened to her. If she had died, he would… Perhaps, he couldn’t have lived either.

Adelaide was fine, he wanted to tell her that he was glad she was safe, but he was so out of breath that he couldn’t utter a word. Tears dripped down wetting Caladium’s clothes. She was grabbing onto his shirt tightly, like she was holding onto her lifeline.

“Cal, ladi…”

Adelaide called his name in a mournful voice. He was alive. Caladi was not dead. She let out a warm breath and buried her face in his arms.

He finally felt like he could breathe.

“Adela.”

Caladium spoke softly as if in reply. His eyes were hot as well. Seeing her weeping in his arms, he felt both sadness and anger as if his intestines were being crushed. He also felt a deep sense of guilt.

“Adelaide, are you okay?!”

“Are you hurt?”

“Whine, whine…!”

[T/N: Bell]

Her demons surrounded Adelaide. Pia hurriedly glanced at her condition, and Bell whined and wagged his tail. Adelaide shed tears in her eyes as she worried for his red feet stained with blood.

On the other hand, Caladium warily gazed in the direction of the warrior. As he expected, the warrior stood quite well. Although one of his arms had been sliced off by Caladium’s attack, he did not appear to be in any pain.

“Funny.”

But his energy was more ferocious than before. He didn’t know why, but his anger seemed to have risen. A hand with clear veins wrapped around the handle of the sword tightly.

“Why are you so lax when I’ve already beaten you”

“Lax?”

Caladium snorted and smirked.

“Yeah, I lost. I guess I wasn’t expecting that.”

As the confrontation resumed, Adelaide turned with an anxious face.

She was worried that he might get hurt again. Caladium gently stroked her shoulder to reassure her. Contrary to his friendly behavior, the words towards the warrior that followed were ferocious.

“How would I know? I didn’t know you were a half-breed b*stard.”

The demons’ eyes widened at his words. Half-breed? The legendary warrior was a mixed race? The Skeletons whispered.

“I was wondering how a puny human like you could endure the demon energy, I didn’t think you would be a mix with demon blood. No wonder you smell like sh*t.”

The warrior’s face became distorted at Caladium’s ridicule. The aura surrounding him grew even worse. The bright blue eyes gleamed sharply.

“Even if you knew, would it have made a difference?”

“Something will change, yes.”

‘It’s a bit annoying, but of course there is.’ Caladium nodded his head and added.

His attitude was so calm that even the other demons were embarrassed. Adelaide also made a face like it was absurd as she didn’t know what the hell he believed in and why he was so nonchalant.

‘What should I do if something happens to him because he provoked him?’

One of his arms was cut off, so it would be easier to deal with him. But even at that, the warrior’s appearance was not too disturbed. He had no time to treat it but hardly any blood flowed from his severed arm. On the other hand, Caladium, unlike before, was not well prepared for battle. He did not create a fireball, nor did he have large wings.

In short, he was behaving excessively badly.

Adelaide tapped him with a finger to calm Caladium. Unfortunately, that alone could not stop Caladium. Rather, he slowly wrapped his arms around Adelaide’s waist and continued speaking.

“You wouldn’t even be able to lay a finger on Adela now.”

It was an obvious provocation. Adelaide grabbed him by the collar asking if he had gone mad. But he just smiled brightly.

“Really?”

The warrior said with an expressionless face. Energy was already gathered at the tip of his sword.

“Yes, why don’t you try?”

A huge sword strike rained down on the demons.

Ahh! The Durahans screamed and embraced each other. Adelaide also closed her eyes tightly. Although she believed that Caladium had a plan, she could not help but feel anxious.

At that moment, the scent of the cool forest brushed the tip of her nose.

Crash!

The dungeon vibrated loudly and there was a sound of an explosion. Strong wind ruffled Adelaide’s hair. She curled up like a worm, and after she realized that there was no pain anywhere, she slowly opened her eyes. Only then did she understand why Caladium acted so leisurely.

Silver hair, as if made by gathering moonlight, passed in front of her. Soon, a friendly face came into view.

“Master.”

Adelaide lowered her hands. Her red lips parted, and tears that she thought had stopped started falling again. The man in front of her raised a large hand and wiped her tears with his thumb. The tip of her nose twitched at the gentle touch.

“I’m home.”

The manager of Greenville Dungeon, Lisianthus, has finally returned.
