Data.138 – Old Bowman, The Road To Follow

When it came to asking Satomi about a Unison’s 3rd evolution, another question came to my mind.

In the first place, when did Garbow have a 2nd evolution…?

I didn’t remember such a thing happening.

And so I had to ask Satomi about evolution in general.

“The evolution of a Unison…is quite like that other popular monster game. When they level up, their appearance changes and they become stronger. But there are times when leveling up is not enough, and you also need certain items.”

“There are times… But did your Gochu not evolve?”

“Yes. Gochu had already reached his 3rd evolution, Magic Monkey, when we met.”

“I see…!”

In other words, Garbow had already reached the 2nd evolution that was Ravengar when I saw him.

Indeed, it wouldn’t be unusual to see evolved monsters out in the wild.

Garbow had already been level 30, so evolving once was no surprise.

But now Garbow was at level 60.

“My guess would be that there is something aside from leveling that is required for Garbow to evolve. But I don’t know what it is, and there is no information about it online. And I don’t think it’s realistic to search everywhere.”

“I see… But there are players out there, who managed to evolve their unisons without leveling?”

“Yes. There have been several reports of that. But those are completely different Unisons, so the thing that is necessary for Garbow is… Ah!”

“Wh-what is it…?”

“Now that I think about it, some of the reports said that ‘the Unison led me to the item necessary for evolution…’ And the place was always near to the location where they first met…!”

The place that Garbow and I met…the south sea!

So if I took Garbow there, then he might find the item that we need.

“But I adventured in that area with Garbow for quite awhile after taming him, and he never did anything like that…”

“He would need to be a certain level as well. So perhaps he won’t react to the item until he reaches a high enough level.”

“Well, that would explain why he didn’t react to anything…!”

I thanked Satomi for this valuable information, and then left the first town as well.

I was headed for the south sea.

However, first, I would visit Mr. Yu’s workshop in the sky.

As I wasn’t able to go to other towns while on the Ghost Float, I had quite a lot of materials saved up from defeating monsters.

It would be great if one of them would allow my Windcloud set to evolve, but ghosts and zombies didn’t seem like they would be related to it…

◆ ◆ ◆

“Oh! I can’t believe it…!”

The heavenly maiden at the front desk in Mr. Yu’s workshop showed me a screen with some surprising results.

The three parts of my Windcloud set that haven’t evolved yet. All of them could now either be enhanced or evolved.

So the materials I got from the Ghost Float were just what I needed. I was a very lucky man.

And so I made requests for enhancements and evolution, and handed over my equipment.

They were the Windstream Scarf, Windguard Hakama, and Cloudbore Archery Gloves.

It would take nearly three days to complete.

But…I wouldn’t rest and wait for it. I would continue my adventures as always.

While I couldn’t dress like this during PvP or events, it should be adequate enough for exploring the field.

More than anything, we had all sworn to strive to become the strongest.

And so I didn’t want to waste any time.

I generally liked to play at my own pace, but I didn’t want to be a pathetic old man who used that as an excuse to hold the others back.

So for now, I would play the role of a cool older man.

Now, it was time to fast travel to the port town of Tonami and explore the south sea.

I had been in the dimly lit Ghost Float for so long, so I missed the heat of the sun…

“Oh? I just received a message from management… What!?”

The title was very straightforward. ‘The 1st NSO Strongest Party Tournament!’

Hey, I thought they were going to keep this secret for a little longer?

In any case, I doubted that announcing it so early had been part of their original plan.

It must be because the information had spread too much. And people were starting to speculate. And so they likely had to just announce it to avoid confusion and misinformation.

As for the rules of the tournament…hmm. It was just like what Necoco had heard from that VRHAR member.

So there really wasn’t anything new here.

Apparently, they would announce the rest one week after the zodiac event ended.

Now, there was no longer any doubt that the leaked information from VRHAR was real.

There really was going to be a big game where a party could win 100 million yen all together…!

While I didn’t know what the rules were yet, there was no harm in getting stronger as a single player.

This event was likely PvP.

After all, VRHAR had wanted to test the members of the Ghost Guild.

“You won’t be able to win…unless you’re confident that you can beat everyone…”

The die had been cast.

And so Next Stage Online became even more heated as players strove to attain unheard of wealth and fame.
