Chapter 1.11: Sigrid Ankertna

The next morning, as if there were an alarm on her body, Sigrid woke up naturally at the same time as the sound of a chicken crowing. Subconsciously, she did her routine: washed her face and changed into a uniform. However, she soon realized that she was on a long break. She let out a sigh and took off her uniform and changed her clothes.

Then, she headed to her new house in Zone 2.

‘My house.’

Sigrid laughed bitterly at the strange feeling at thinking those words.

Upon arriving at her new house, Sigrid purified the whole house with her aura right away. Afterwards, Sigrid took a break and ate up the bread and drank the water she had bought in a hurry. Purifying a house by herself without having an aura core was extremely tiring. However, she felt proud after feeling the air of the house becoming clear.

Then, Sigrid went to Marigold and asked her to send the cleaning workers. Marigold was looking worried that cleaning workers would run away again when Sigrid shook her head and said, “It won’t come out anymore.”

“It won’t come out anymore?”

“Yeah.”

Marigold was a little bit suspicious at Sigrid’s words, but she still agreed to send the cleaning worker tomorrow.

Sigrid nodded her head satisfied. She was thinking about getting a cape today, but the morning work was so exhausting that Sigrid decided to go to the bookstore instead of the clothing store.

As Sigrid entered the bookstore, the owner looked at her as if she was an eyesore and even pretended not to see her. This was because Sigrid always stopped by the bookstore to read and never bought any books. However, today she was different. Sigrid picked up several magazines and books related to gardens and interior design and headed to the cashier. The owner accepted the payment with a surprised look. Then Sigrid came out to the street with some books.

She thought about taking a carriage, but it was also a waste of money. Since she often walked down the street, she went back with those books to Zone 3.

In the evening, while having her tea with milk and sugar, Sigrid opened the books she’d bought. Books belonged to the realm of luxury that not all people could buy because of how expensive they were. Since she finally bought them with determination, she would use them to be as useful as possible.

While reading those books, Sigrid changed her mind about her new house,

‘i shouldn’t throw away all the furniture in the house…. New furniture is expensive…’

Sigrid remembered most of the furniture was fine. Even the tableware was still there. She could clean all of them and use them again. All the valuables seemed to have been auctioned off and they seemed to have left the things that were not worth the money. Or they had given up because of the ghost, which is more likely considering that the bloodstains remained uncleaned.

Determined to leave everything as it was, Sigrid looked into her books again.

‘The rent will be finished by this month…’

It was a good thing that her house was a small room without a deposit. If it wasn’t renewed every month, the rent was over, so she didn’t lose anything. Since it wasn’t rushed, she decided to move her luggage there little by little.

The next morning, Sigrid got up early as usual, then headed for her new home.

The cleaning workers arrived at the same time as Sigrid. Their faces somewhat looked nervous.

“Are you sure, it was really okay?”

“If it comes out and we can’t work, you still have to give use the money as it is.”

Sigrid opened the door with a mild answer, “Alright.”

The cleaning workers entered the house with their minds on high alert. Yet, nothing really happened, then they started to work in wonder.

“Should I throw away all the furniture?”

“No, please leave as it is, except for anything that is soaked in blood or broken.”

“Yes.”

The cleaning workers smashed the blood-soaked furniture and loaded them on the cart they’d brought. The blood-soaked wooden floor was cut with axes to tear the whole thing off. The blood-soaked wallpaper was also torn off and the stone wall was wiped clean.

While the workers were doing their work, Sigrid went out to order glass windows for the house.

By dusk, the house had become shiny as a result of cleaning the house and throwing away all the trash all the way until sunset. The cleaning workers decided to leave and come back to finish all the clean up tomorrow.

Sigrid looked around with pride at the clean house. The living room floor on the first floor was all exposed, but it still had a luxurious feeling. At the back of the first floor, there was a kitchen connected to a servant room. On the other side of the floor, there was Sigrid’s favorite place in the house: the bathroom.

The marble bathtub and the copper water pipe were fascinating to just look at. She also liked the water heater that was built on one side of the bathroom. The backyard was still quite terrible, but it would be a great garden if the weeds were pulled out and the grown trees were trimmed.

‘The second floor is not bad either.’

Two of the three rooms on the second floor were bedrooms and one was a study room. In the study room, there was not a single book left, so only the bookshelf remained alone, but that alone was enough.

‘This is my home now.’
