Eisen grabbed everything that he needed for the creation of this special mechanism. An in the end, it didn't really require anything all too special beside just some crystals that he could enchant.
He combined a few crystals together that all worked together with each other to create something even better than before. If the gem that Eisen used for the special brush in Trygan's realm was an 'Artist's Gem', this was a 'Craftsman's Gem'.
Eisen used this as a base for the enchantment and inscription. First things first, he grabbed a small cube that he kept something very special in. It was the soul of a monster that had gained a very powerful craftsman-evolution. It was basically a master-craftsman in itself. Somehow, Eisen had come across a group of these that were all working with each other. He would save the 'leader' of these monsters for himself for an item, but he chose one of the regular souls for this item.
He opened the crystal cube up and pulled the soul out of it before slowly placing the soul into the Craftsman's Gem, and then created the enchantments that were supposed to tap into the abilities of the soul. This one in particular was a Blacksmith, exactly what the old man needed for this. And then, he created the actual mechanism that Eisen needed, and that was the mechanism to create a sturdy metal chain.
This mechanism would make use of Eisen's own element to create the metal for the basis, which should be stable enough to be used within combat as far as the old man was aware at least, and would use the Blacksmith-Monster's soul as a conduit to actually create that chain out of Eisen's element to strengthen it a bit more than what it would end up being like if Eisen simply made a mechanism that would create something in the shape of a chain. Like this, it would go through the 'whole' process, even if not really. It was simply an improvement.
And at the same time, this soul would also be capable of making the whole mechanism run properly so that the champion didn't need to use as much mana as she would otherwise need to.
He created a 3D enchantment that went through the process of creating a chain-link and then actually interlocking it with another piece bit by bit, before then pushing his mana into the whole thing for mana inscription.
Eisen pulled the mana back out of this item and then started his work there. First things first, he made sure to arrange all the effects of the Craftsman's Gem so that everything would work out properly. Basically, what he had been able to do since a bit of spatial-gem was integrated in it, he could create something like an artificial smithy within it.
First things first, he created the basic space with the dots from the spatial gems. Then, using the earth-gem parts, he created the floor and walls, as well as the basis for the forge. Within that forge, Eisen then created flames using the fire-gems so that it could be 'used'. He used all the different gems that he had added into the mix to create a fully-equipped smithy, with a few exceptions that he would deal with later.
Instead, he for now started working on the other, basic inscriptions. He took his needle and started to write into the mana thing that supported the enchantments by describing the process of creating the chain in words and images as well, and even added a part where he connected his mana-copy skill with it and added in an actually animated version of what needed to be done. After all, Eisen usually copied every action that at the very least he himself went through into the mana-copy skill's data-base, since it was rather easy to do so. His whole body was constantly filled with mana anyway, after all.
Either way, after Eisen finished this, he had to move on to something else that was equally as important as the process of creating the chain. He had to interact with the soul a little bit. He had to make sure that this soul was properly prepared for what it was supposed to do, and for that, Eisen started to think a bit.
What did he need in order to really create this chain? He pondered on it for a good while, until he came to a simple conclusion. This soul needed actual tools. Right now, it was basically just a naked version of the monster this soul came from, and as such wouldn't actually be able to create anything proper. Maybe nothing would really take effect and this would be just the waste of an incredibly rare soul. He was willing to use it for something like this, considering that he was working on a very important quest right now, but if it may just end up being a waste of materials he really didn't want to do so.
What did he need in order to really create this chain? This soul needed actual tools. That was the biggest thing that was still missing from this artificial smithy that he created using the Craftsman's gem.
And so, Eisen made use of the part of the craftsman's gem that had his 'Blazing core of the mountain' element infused into it, and started to use it to create anything that he needed to that was made of metal while adding a few more 'details' to the mix within the smithy to make the soul feel completely at home within it.
Eisen created hammers, tongs, anything that one may need to create chains in any sort of capacity. He tried to make them high-quality somehow, but it was pretty hard to do so since this was all only conceptual in the end.
But either way, to finish everything off, Eisen made sure to give a command to the soul through this mana inscription. And that was to properly follow what exactly the mana-copy of Eisen was doing to create the chain whenever it was prompted to, and to do so as quickly as it could without making quality suffer for it.
And then, he placed the soul within the artificial smithy that he created within the gem. It technically didn't exist, actually. One couldn't see it from outside, it didn't have any sort of physical form. But nonetheless, Eisen knew that this Blacksmith-Soul had an actual smithy to work in. It would get materials as provided by Eisen's element to create chains that would then be pushed out of the front of this small crystal sphere.
In the end, this was all there really was to it. He could just add this to one of the two bases of the dagger, but Eisen figured that this wasn't exactly what the Champion had in mind when it came to the mechanism.
Instead of just one side pushing out the chain, she specifically told Eisen that she would like it to come out of both sides if it was possible. Eisen wasn't sure why, but she asked for it, so he would make it like that.
Luckily, Eisen had a good idea of what he could do.
He already added a little bit extra to the mix of what the creation, and then later the destruction, of the magic chains would entail. It was something that he had been working on so that he could figure out how to easily send items from place A to place B, to especially make things far, far easier for Komer's side of things.
Instead of having to send out numerous carriages and ships to do everything for him, you just needed to create a platform at every major shipment point, and everything could be sent where it needed to be instantly.
Basically, it was something like teleportation. Eisen already managed to create something kind of like teleportation with a single spatial gem, where he was able to put something into an opening in a spatial gem on one end, and it would immediately come out the other side about two or three meters away, due to the way that Eisen placed all the spatial-gem's dots during mana inscription.
But those two or three meters seemed to be the limit like that, although he found that if he connected two physical halves of the gem with each other somehow, via a thread or something, really anything that worked well to connect those two halves physically so that they counted as a single item, the range could be extended.
And so, that would be exactly what Eisen would be doing now as well. He would add one half of a spatial gem to either handle, and then make sure to add the chain-links to either side of the chain equally from the same single mechanism where they were created.
Eisen wasn't sure how well it would work at first, but all he had to do to test it out was to create the two spatial gems and place everything inside before once more using mana inscription to finalize everything.
And once that was done, Eisen just pushed a little bit of mana into both of the spatial gems, as that was what Eisen set as the activation condition, and pulled both halves away from each other.
Immediately, Eisen could see a chain be created between the two gems in the fashion that the champion wanted it to be created. And since the champion had been watching everything that was going on so far, she seemed rather confused about the creation of chains out of thin air. Of course she was aware of spatial gems and how her old weapon's mechanism worked, and that was why she thought Eisen would do it the same then. Just creating chains that he would put into the spatial gems to be pulled out when needed and pulled in when not, but this was very, very different.
"H-How did you do that?" She asked confusedly, with a light stutter, "I didn't even see you create any chains... Or bring any here to put them into those gems..." The champion pointed out. Eisen looked at the woman next to him and simply smirked a bit.
"Well, yeah, because I didn't create any chains. This mechanism will allow you to make chains of basically infinite length. I would advise against it though, at some point the weight of the chains themselves will become too much and they might snap somehow anyway. But don't worry if that happens, just pull the chains back into their respective gem, and everything will be fine. You can create chains normally again afterward." The old man pointed out, looking at the baffled champion.
With a smile, as he was always happy to impress others with his craftsmanship, the old man continued to work on the actual blades.
