As soon as I woke up and stowed the rock that served as the bedroom door, Belle and Rain rushed toward me, as if they were waiting for me. I rushed to catch them in my arms and ask them what was wrong, but before I could do so, an excited Belle spoke up.

"Yuta. You know what? My eyes came out!"

"Cue."

I see. That's why Belle and Rain are so excited.

"Belle moaned and Rein moaned."

"Cue."

"Great. I'm going to have to go see it right away."

Come on!

"Cue."

Belle pulls me by the hand, and Rain pushes me back toward the field. When they arrived at the field, they found Dine. Nomos. Tulu was also looking at the field.

"Ah! Yuta, good morning! Your seedlings have sprouted!

"Oh. That's not bad growth."

"...... found it."

Good morning, everybody. Let me have a look."

I looked at the field and saw a small but striking green. In a place with no vegetation at all, it was small but very noticeable. I crouch down and observe it as closely as possible.

The thin, translucent stem and the two small, slightly separated leaves are adorable. When was the last time you were moved by growing plants? I was so happy when morning glories bloomed. Maybe since elementary school.

"Yeah. Yeah. There are definitely plants growing in the fields of the land of the dead.

"Yuta. This is it. Belle made it.

"Cue cue."

Belle and Rain proudly show me the sprouts from the seeds they buried. I patted them around with great joy, including the pleasure of seeing them germinate.

"But they really germinated, didn't they?

I had hoped that they would germinate, but I was surprised when they actually did. Nothing really grows in this land.

"It's because of your hard work, Yuta. I think you are the first person in a long time to make the dead land grow green all by himself.

"That's right. Those of us who tried to cultivate the land on a large scale barely reaped a meager harvest. You can be proud of yourselves.

"...... great."

DINE. NOMOS. Tulu gives me a compliment. That's pretty nice.

Hmm? Speaking of which, where's Sylphy?"

Usually, he's quick to praise me.

"As soon as he saw the sprouts, he went to get the spirit of the forest. It's a tough environment and I don't know if it will grow like that. He didn't want to kill it right away."

Uh-huh. Sylphy has been a great help to me. I'd like to thank you, but I can't think of anything but ...... booze. Let's see if there's anything else we can do to make her happy.

"Oh, yeah. Thanks. When are you coming back?"

"Hmm. I don't know exactly what they'll be like, but I'm sure they'll be back before noon."

Yes, it is. Sylphy was very enthusiastic, so it might be sooner.

I'm glad Sylphie was happy to see you. It makes me happy to be honest.

"By the way, Rain. Have you finished watering?"

"Cuey."

Rain shakes his head.

"If I hit the buds directly with a drop of water, it might break them, so can you water them with a mist like you did before?"

"Cue."

I'm nodding my head, so I guess it's okay. The other seeds are not germinating yet, so there is still a lot to look forward to.

After Rain finishes watering, we have breakfast with Belle, Rain, and Tulu. The seafood is the same as usual, but the vegetables are getting more realistic, which makes me more excited.

If the spirit of the forest comes, we may be able to get them to grow rapidly. Then there will be green vegetables for dinner! I'm starting to look forward to it.

After the meal, I look around the field again, and Belle tells me that Sylphy is on her way. She's early. I'll meet her in front of the field. I spot Sylphy and give a big wave.

"I'm home. Yuta.

"Welcome home, Sylphie. Thanks for picking me up so quickly. Are you the spirit of the forest?

Yes, I am. My name is Dolly.

It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Dolly, the Great Spirit of the Forest. This is the junior spirit of the forest who came with me this time. You must be Yuta. I look forward to working with you.

The Great Spirit of the Forest bowing gracefully and fluidly. Straight green hair. Smooth. A fragile beauty smiling with kind eyes. She has the air of a young lady with a deep window.

And the lowly spirit of the forest she's brought with her is also a badass. That's not right. Fluffy, fuzzy fur. Especially the tail. The color of her fur is almost gold and shiny. A fox cub looks up at you with dull eyes. It's so cute, it's almost mocking. I want to hold it.

Yuta?

"Ah. I'm sorry. My name is Yuta Morizono. Please call me Yuta.

"Hmm. You can talk to me in a normal way. Sylphy told me about you. You can call me Dolly and you don't have to use honorifics. I use honorifics out of habit, so don't worry about it.

"Oh, yeah. Okay, Dolly. Thanks for coming. I really appreciate it.

Tori. There it is again.

Cue.

"No, no, no. I'm just interested in what Sylphy has to say. Belle. Rain. It's good to see you again. You've been a good servant. That's very impressive.

"Heh."

Cue.

Oh. Belle and Lane are all over each other. The power of the daughter-in-waiting. Or maybe it's a negative ion effect like the spirits of the forest.

Belle and Rain are intrigued by the fox cubs and charge at them. They hug her, saying she's soft and fluffy. I'm jealous.

"Dolly, it's been a long time. How have you been?"

Deanne suddenly appears, hugging Dolly and giving her a cheek-to-cheek hug. Are they good friends?

"There you are. We've been waiting for you.

Nomos and Tulu are here, too. Tulu is looking a little uncomfortable, so I lead him toward the fox cubs. Tulu approaches the vixen with trepidation, and slowly enjoys the fluff. I love it.

"Deene. Nomos. It's been a long time. I've been fine. I heard about you. I'm glad you guys are having fun.

"Uh-oh. It's fun. And now that Dory's here, it's going to be even more fun.

"Hmm. I'm never bored."

"DOLLY. We'll renew old acquaintances later, but now's a good time to check the fields. I came here in a hurry because I didn't want it to die."

Oh, right. I forgot the most important thing.

"I'm sorry. You're right."

With that, Dolly checks the field, gently touching the buds and checking the soil. I was getting nervous just looking at her.

"It's definitely growing well. The soil balance is not very good, but they are also very tolerant of the harsh environment. I'm sure they will grow well.

Oh. Vegetables are just around the corner. I wonder how soon we'll be able to eat them. ...... I was so thrilled that the seeds sprouted just now, but now all I can think about is eating them.

"Good. Is there anything I should be aware of?"

I asked him, and after thinking for a moment, he responded.

"Even though they are tolerant of harsh environments, they have their limits. Please do not let the soil dry out or become too wet.

"I'm asking Lane to do the watering. I'm having her mist the plants with water, can you check on that later?"

"Okay. I'll join you."

I have no idea how much water to use, so that's great.

I'll take care of it.

So, Dory, you think you can stay here?

"Yes, I think so. The environment is conducive to vegetation and it is possible to stay. However, this field alone will eventually reach its limits, so we need an environment that can support more plants. There is one more condition, but I will tell you about it when you create an environment where plants can grow.

Oh. Nomos. I'm glad I made space for the forest to grow as you said.

"Then Nomos asked me to make space for a forest to grow. Would you check it out?"

"Oh, my. You've already done it. That's wonderful.

He leads Dolly to the south side of the base where the forest will be built.

"Here it is. It may be small for a forest, but give me a break.

"Well, there is a spring in the center. And the soil here is very similar to the soil in the field. It seems to be a little low in microorganisms, but ...... I think we can make it work."

Oh, that's a good response. I mean, if this doesn't work, I don't know what to do. The microorganisms are probably not up to speed yet.

"I see. The microorganisms have just been mixed with the soil, so I think they will increase over time. If everything is okay, can you tell me the last condition?"

"Yes, that's right. The last condition is that we do not give up the development of this land. Listening to Shilfi's story, I felt that once Yuta-san went to the town, he would not come back easily. Since you have worked so hard, I would like you to continue the pioneering. What do you think?"

I worked hard to build it in the first place. I never intended to give it up, but what do you mean you're not giving up on pioneering? You can't just throw yourself into pioneering. I want to enjoy the other world too.

"Hey, Sylphie. Hey, Sylphie. When you get to town, how long will it take you to get there each way?

"Well, I don't know. The nearest town is about three hours away, carrying Yuta. But Bell and the others won't be able to keep up. Well, we can get anywhere on this continent in half a day.

The Great Spirit of the Wind is awesome. Even with me as baggage, you're faster than Belle. But at that speed you can always come back here.

Sylphie's amazing!"

"Of course. Don't underestimate the Great Spirit of the Wind.

Yeah, I can forgive the smug look on his face. I mean, it's amazing that it only takes half a day to travel within this continent.

"Uh, Dory. I don't want to give up this place, but I'm not going to put all my energy into exploring it either. I'm going to enjoy this other world and make up for what it lacks. So the pace will be slow, and I don't think I'll increase the area if I don't have to."

"If you don't want to abandon this place and continue to pioneer it, even if in a small way, that's fine. I would be happy to stay here.

The Great Spirit Lady of the Deep Window and the Enchanting Fluffy Vixen Spirit have joined us.
