Cultivating a paradise for intermediate level spirits. Before I started, I thought I could finish it easily, but I didn't think I would be bothered by the lack of spirits who can cook. I think we should have held a cooking class for the spirits before we had a training class for the genie.

"Whew. I feel like I'm back to square one."

As I repeatedly dig up the earth with my magic shovel and store it in my magic bag in order to expand my paradise, I am reminded of the early days when I was lost in the land of the dead.

"Hmmm, yes. That's how it was in the beginning. But now it's more lively.

Sylphie responds to my soliloquy. Lively. .......

"......I see......Yeah, it is. It's a lot livelier now."

In the beginning, we were struggling to survive and had to start by finding water and food. And the only people who stayed with us were Sylphy and Belle.

I was so moved that I almost cried when I dug a well with a hand auger in a dry former swamp, praying for water to come out. Then Sylphy brought Dine and Rain to us.

Gradually, we built up the environment, and each time we built up the number of our friends, and now we have a village and stranger spirits come to visit us. I even got an apprentice and there's even an island floating in the sky.

Yeah... It's very lively.

"Good job."

"...... yeah."

I'm unexpectedly sober. But I don't feel bad. The cool Sylphy's slight but gentle smile makes me feel proud to know that she really appreciates me.

"Yes! I'll do my best!"

"Ha-ha-ha, good luck."

I'm so fired up. Let's work hard to cultivate the land and bring in intermediate level spirits to make paradise more and more crowded.

For that, I'm going to dig, dig, dig!

...... but my back still hurts. My back is supposed to be getting stronger as my level goes up, but it remains weak. Is it my personality affecting my back?

I insert the magic shovel into the dirt again, thinking nonsense. As usual, the soil is dug out as easily as scooping pudding.

Lately, the only time I've been able to use the pioneering tool is with my magic bag, but I guess it's still a cheat. If you use it for its intended purpose, you can feel that very clearly.

I would like to find other uses for this ability besides using it as a weapon.

While I am thinking about it, the process is progressing rapidly, as I am accustomed to it.

For the time being, I decided to enlarge the paradise by one round, but at this rate, I might have made it a little wider.

Well, there are still a lot of unused areas in the previous paradises, so is this enough?

"And by the way, Sylphy, you're going to give this newly cultivated space to the middle class spirits without doing anything with it, aren't you? If I were you, I wouldn't want to be thrown in that empty space, but are you really going to be happy about it?"

My job is to dig the ground, lay the rocks, and throw in the forest soil. But that's almost nothing more than the foundation.

I feel disappointed as if I am giving a present without wrapping it, so I think I should at least make a waterway for it.

"They're happy because there's nothing there. In fact, the most cramped time is when you are a middle level spirit. When you are small, you don't have to think about anything but it's fun, and when you are in the advanced genie or great genie class, you find your own role and become stable in your own way. So the in-between time, the intermediate level spirits are the most unstable."

Between adult and child...... so-called puberty? It's a bit disconcerting because an intermediate spirit looks like an elementary school student.

"If we had a place where we could be free to do things on our own, would we be happier about it?"

While other sanctuaries have a protected environment, paradise is quite flexible. That's why there's no need for extra development.

That's what I'm saying."

It's like the thrill of having a blank canvas in front of you. That makes sense. I've never used a canvas before!

"Huh? But the middle class spirits who come to visit don't have a contract, do they? I know you can wield some power freely in the sanctuary, but can you even develop it and still have magical power?"

My contracted spirits are supplied and stored by me. I have heard that since I am high level and have plenty of magic power and hardly use it, Belle and her friends have stored up a lot of magic power.

But is it safe for an intermediate level spirit without a contractor to use magic power? Well, Ruby and the others are also fine, but they are advanced spirits and hardly use any magic power.

"Yuta. The contracting of spirits is not all about magic power, even if there is a minimum line. Otherwise the contract between Yuta and Belle would have taken much longer, right?"

Come to think of it, I remember the first time I signed a contract with Belle, I was told it was just an added bonus. And I don't think I'm getting any extra money from Sylphy and the other great spirits.

I was afraid to ask for more details, but I don't think I can satisfy more than one great spirit by myself considering their power.

"Spirits can grow without making a contract with people, and they can get their magical power from nature. The reason why they make a contract is to make it easier for them to grow by deepening their connection with this world through the contract. For a floating spirit, but for a spirit who has grown up to an intermediate level, the magical power needed to explore a place like this is within the margin of error.

It's amazing to be an intermediate level spirit when you look like an elementary school student.

"At least I know I don't have to worry about it.

Well, even Belle and her friends who look like little kids are older than me, so I guess I just have to accept that they are spirits.

Oh, speak of the bells. No, I'm not gossiping, just thinking.

"Yutta-ta-ta-ta! No way!"

Bells fly in and tell us that there is nothing wrong with our surroundings. They may think they are reporting their rounds in a crisp manner, but all I can feel is their cuteness. It's a wonder that they are spirits, since they are so much older than us.

Also, Taicho means captain, right? I don't know, since they didn't salute, but I wonder if Bell and the others are almost remembering their early pioneering days with nostalgic work.

Playing captain is becoming a bit of a black history, so please don't remind me.

"Well, thank you. Keep your eyes open."

I don't want to be reminded of it, but my body is acting like a captain on its own. Why is that?

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. ............"

See, I acted like a captain, and the belles even remembered to salute me, which I had just barely forgotten.

Huh? But at least Flair and Moon weren't around when I taught them to salute, right? Hmmm, does Moon salute in the first place?

The pulled body seems to be somewhat solid, but it is difficult to judge with the slime. Well, even Flare, who is supposed to be unknown to us, is saluting, so Moon is probably saluting, too.

It is very cute to see the contracted spirits trying their best to salute. I see, the reason I responded like a captain even though I thought it was a black history is because I just wanted to see the cute salute of Belle and the others.

...... my feelings for the Belles may have reached the level of a grandfather's love for his grandchildren.

"Well then, continue to be on the lookout. Dismissed!"

The bells fly away with a cackle as a signal to disperse. And Sylphie looks at me with a dazed gaze. It's a little sad that Sylphie's dumb look is my default when I play this game.

"Hey, master!

While I was a little dusked, Gina came running calling me.

Gina and the others are supposed to be working with Ruby and the others to discuss what we need for our plan, but is there something I don't understand?

"Gina. What's wrong?"

I call out to Gina, who comes running up to me at a fairly high speed. But, as you can see, Gina has entered a realm where she can no longer be classified as an ordinary person.

It is a long way from the village of spirits to this place, but she has been running quite fast and is not even out of breath. It's amazing how much they've improved. My weak back won't be cured though. .......

"Oh, Emme-san says she has something new she wants, but she probably needs the master's help, so I came to check."

"Hmm? You need my help? If you want Emme, I'm willing to help, but do you need something special?"

Ruby and the other senior spirits have been very helpful to me even though I have no contract with them. I can't say I'll give them everything they want, but I'm willing to accept a little hardship.

But if you're coming all the way here to check, you need something that you can't just throw at Marie, don't you? I'm not sure if it will be worth the trouble.

"I haven't seen them for sale in the labyrinth city, but I don't think they are special. He wants us to stock a lot of handbells."

Handbells? Yeah, the ones I bought in Beryl as souvenirs for Belle and her friends. I still enjoy their music when I am in paradise.

I see, there are many spirits who want to play with handbells, influenced by the bells' performance. So I guess they ordered them.

In Japan, you can get similar items anywhere unless they are very rare, but in this world, it takes a lot of time and effort to get even a hard-to-degrade item like handbells. I've realized again how convenient online shopping is.

"That's not a problem. Well, I'll have to ask Sylphy to take me there, but that's okay, right?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

Sylphy said yes, and there is no problem. My only concern is whether we can have a night out while we go shopping. ...... seems impossible.

I don't think my conscience would be able to handle a night out while shopping, even if I go there on vacation. I'm not sure if I can go on vacation, but I don't think my conscience would be able to handle a night out while shopping. .......

"Okay. I'll put you on the list, please."

Do you have so many things you need to ...... list? Well, it's Marie who has to do the hard work. I love it when you just throw everything at me.

We'll go to the village of spirits to expand and build new buildings, and then go shopping. Since there seems to be a lot of things we need, we leave it to Marie at the labyrinth city and get handbells at Beryl. After that, I think it would be better to secure some soil in a suitable forest and pick up the goods in the labyrinth city.

It may take a lot of time and effort, but there are few time-consuming tasks, and we may be able to welcome the intermediate level spirits sooner than expected. I am looking forward to it.
