Well, I finished buying cooking utensils and tableware. The only other things I need to buy at the grocery store are condiments and clothes.

"Marie. Next, seasonings, please.

Awe, sir. This way please."

Marie guides me with a smile. Her movements are sharp, as if she expects to increase sales. While moving around the restaurant, I see Bell and his friends playing tag while jumping around.

It seems that Lane is the devil. Belle, Tulu, and Tamamo are running away from Rain who is jumping around in every direction in the store, laughing and laughing happily.

So far, they don't seem to be interested in anything but food, and they are playing without paying attention to the tools. Well, it's okay that they seem to be enjoying themselves.

When we arrive at the seasoning corner, Marie sets out some seasonings on the table. Some are in leather bags, others in wooden boxes. A bundle of dried leaves looks like basil.

Here are the seasonings we can provide. Shall I explain them to you?

"Yes, please."

Marie's explanation made sense to me. There's no soy sauce or miso. I'm shocked. All I know is salt, sugar, pepper, chili, basil and watercress. No mint?

And pepper is a luxury item, apparently. It can only be found in the deepest parts of the labyrinth, and the harvest is said to be small. It would be great if we could pick it by ourselves.

And sugar would be nice. Surprisingly cheap. When I asked why, it seems that sugar cane is usually grown there. Come to think of it, this continent is not so much warm as hot. Sugar cane grows here. Then it seems like pepper should be grown here, too.

The rest of the items were unknown to me, and I bought them in small quantities on a trial basis. I was not sure whether to buy the pepper or not, but I gave in to my desire and decided to buy it.

"Hmmm. Marie. Don't you sell it in powder form?"

"Powder? Since everyone prepares their own food when cooking, why bother with powder?"

Then I guess they don't have garlic powder or something like that. I like that stuff. It's too much trouble to make it myself.

"Hmm, is it profitable? It's a bit of a quandary."

"Sir. I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind.

Marie picked up my mutterings with a keen ear and her eyes began to glaze over. Maybe I could get them to make it for me if I told them, but it's also not a good idea to talk about knowledge that might be worth money for free. Well, it won't be a lot of money because it's easy to be copied, but is it enough to get a little money and be useful?

"Well, it's a business story, isn't it? It's not easy to talk about.

I glance at Marie.

"Rest assured, we don't have anyone here who is reluctant to pay for ideas."

I nodded, and he immediately led me to a parlor in the back of the store.

I am Marie, the second daughter of the chairman of the Pollius Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and I run this general store. I am the manager of this store, and I promise you that you will be well compensated for your ideas. Please don't worry."

You're the chairman's second daughter. Is she young and related to him by blood and is she the manager? But a person like that is a challenger with a three-size story.

"My name is Yuta. I'm a new adventurer, so please don't mind me.

He was a little surprised when I told him I was a new adventurer. I wonder if he was surprised by my age or by the fact that a new adventurer has money?

"Awe. So what's the idea?"

"Yes, that's right. First of all, I would like to say that it is easy to be copied, so I would like you to think that it will only increase the number of products we have for sale, if you don't mind."

"Hmmm. Is it easy to be copied? Well, then the price will be lower.

Well, if it's cheap and convenient, it's good enough for me.

"As a pioneer, you will get some profit and honor. Depending on the degree of perfection, we can be unrivaled. The price will be whatever you want to pay, Marie."

"Oh, my. You might get a discount on the price.

Marie tilts her head cutely. She would be charming if she didn't carry the aura of money.

"If that happens, that's when it happens. I'm not a merchant, I just trust you, Marie.

If you believe me, you can come back here again next time to sell your profitable stuff, and if you don't, that's fine too. If we come up with something, we'll just tell it to someone else.

I'll do my best to live up to your trust.

"Thank you very much. So, I have two ideas. One is to thinly slice fresh garlic, lightly soak it in water, and dry it in the sun until it becomes dry. Then, grind it into a powder and use it as a seasoning.

It is certainly an idea that is easy to replicate. I can't say for sure without tasting it, but it's hard to say if it's a viable business just to dry and crush it. What is the other one?"

"The other is to dry all the seasonings and herbs you showed us today and crush them and mix them together."

"That's the idea? As I said before, everyone is using it at home. It doesn't make much sense, does it? And mixing them together limits their use."

Marie is visibly disappointed. Did I say that wrong?

"The kind of mixing. Study the ratios. For example, when you're cooking meat, you need a seasoning that makes it taste the best. The combinations are countless. If you make a combination that everyone likes, I think it will sell. It's easy and tasty. It is also very useful when camping. You might want to bring it with you in the labyrinth.

Marie started to think seriously. I'd be happy if we could make a product as good as Kreuzie Salt.

"Mr. Yuta. Is this the first time you've talked about this here?

"It's my first time."

Okay, one moment, please.

I see Marie leave the room and ask Sylphy what's going on outside.

"I'm alone in the back. One liaison. Five people out front. They're all pretty much the same. The operation's the same. We're gonna make a mess and drag them into the back alley. Some bozo wanders in unescorted, laughing his ass off. All that's left is the stupid talk about what to do if they succeed."

Some bourgeoisie. He had a hard time in the land of the dead, but he never developed the aura of a strong man. While I was thinking, Marie came back.

"Yuta-san. It's 500,000 elts. Please give me this for the time being. I feel there is a possibility, but there are too many uncertainties, so I can only offer this for now. I would like to add a reward if we are successful."

Five hundred thousand for just a few words. We made a lot of money, didn't we? And they even give you an additional fee for that? Can you make that much money on condiments? I have so many questions.

"Is 500,000 elt enough, or is it going to be that lucrative?"

"Hopefully. We have a plan to make money if our research is successful. You can look forward to it."

You sound confident. They asked for a contract, but I refused to sign it because it was too much trouble. They made me promise to keep confidentiality, but I guess that's to be expected.

After the discussion was over, I went back to the store and picked out some underwear and nightclothes. The underwear was trunks type, and the elastic part was a string, so it would not be too uncomfortable.

There were some stationeries, so I bought some. The price is a little high, but the fact that they are sold normally means that it would be difficult to cheat knowledge with paper. If there is a possibility, it is a pen. It looks like a pen dipped in ink, or maybe a pencil? Hmmm. I don't know how to make one. That's a tough one, knowledge cheat.

I head to the cashier and pay. All in all, just under 180,000. That's not a lot of money to spend in a grocery store. I stow my purchases in my magic bag.

"You have a nice bag. What's the capacity?"

"Hmm. It's a secret."

If you're too specific, you'll get in trouble if your lie is exposed.

"Yuta-san. Would you like to work here?

I feel like their eyes are not on my eyes, but on my bag. Is it no wonder that the bag is so useful for merchants ......?

"I'm going to try my best to be an adventurer for now, so I'll ask for another chance."

"Hmm. That's too bad."

Ha ha. Thank you very much."

While we're chatting lightly, I'll have Sylphy gather Bell and the others and we'll be off. Now let's see what the goons will do.

As we start to walk, five ruffian-looking men approach in front of us, grinning. I don't even need to ask Sylphy.

(Sylphy. Can you stop them?)

Threatening them with a hammer might be a good idea, but wielding a hammer in the middle of the city is not.

"I stopped him."

The men stopped walking. The men are flustered, not knowing what is going on. As I approach the men who are now unable to move, all eyes are on me. Did they realize that I was the cause?

"Me. I'm not a bong. You want to take him down the alley?"

The guys are shaking. That's funny. But whatever they were going to do, it's not nice for me to touch them when they haven't done anything yet. Let's leave them alone and go to the bookstore. We walk for a while and suddenly Sylphy starts giggling.

(Sylphie! What's wrong?)

"Those men. They're fighting. Yuta found out about the plan. They argued that one of them was a traitor, and it turned into a fistfight. Yuta said mean things."

It sounds like an accusation, but his face is smiling, so it's not very convincing. He's clearly enjoying himself. If the hoodlums are on the outs, it's a good thing that the labyrinthine city is a little more peaceful.

(Well, let's just let them get what they deserve, shall we?)

"Hmm. Okay."

We arrive at the bookstore and go inside. It's a small store, so Bell and his friends look a little bored. Looking around the store, there are not many books.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry. I'm looking for a book on the basics of being an adventurer. Do you have any books on popular stories?

I call out to the old man behind the counter.

"We don't have a book on the basics of being an adventurer. You should take a beginner's class. The most popular story is about a party of heroes who conquered the 87th level of the city's labyrinth.

I guess I'll have to take a beginner's course. It would have saved me a lot of awkwardness if I could have gotten my knowledge from a book. It's not going well.

Hero says that the labyrinth has no idea how many layers there are, and that the highest level mankind has ever reached is the 87th. The book is about the party that reached it. By the way, they are currently stuck at the 50th layer.

If they break through the 50th layer, will Guilmouth be aghast? I'm getting a little fired up. I look at some other books, but they don't appeal to me, so I buy a book on heroes and a history book on this country and leave the store.

Two books cost 20,000 yen. This may be a reasonable price considering that the books are handwritten and specialized, but there are few books and no comic books. I need more entertainment.
