Chapter 69: Art. 67. The Power of Silphy

An assault dragon the size of a three-story building is scratching its legs in an assault stance. I take my saw to the maximum size and get ready to attack. I don't want to get blown away, so I have to dodge carefully.

"Goaaaaaaaah!"

With a huge roar, the assault dragon comes barreling toward us at breakneck speed. The rush of the huge body is more powerful than you can imagine, and even though you know you will be okay, your legs are shaken. Somehow, I force myself to move my body to avoid the assault dragon.

It's not good. It's hard enough just to avoid the assault dragon, but the vibration of the huge body takes my legs. As you manage to avoid it, the assault dragon runs past you, making the earth shake. And since it is so wide, it would have crushed me in time if I hadn't been at a higher level.

It's a good thing that it can't make a sudden change of direction. It slightly changed its course to the direction I was trying to avoid, but I think I can manage to hit it if I stay calm.

Oh, I should have dug a hole with a magic shovel. If I dig a deep hole, I'm afraid I'll fall into it. Hmmm...but it would be difficult because of the slope.

......What's that? Can't that guy stop? It looks like it is braking hard with its feet, but it has rushed down the slope of the volcano and is slipping and sliding toward the foot of the volcano, emitting a cloud of dust.

Oh, what's going on? I had not thought of such a turn of events. Should we leave it alone and move on? We watched him for a few hundred meters before he finally stopped. Oh, it's coming back. Assault dragons are coming up the volcano, billowing clouds of smoke.

"Hey, Sylphy. Assault dragons are A-rank dragons. They don't seem to be very intelligent.

"It's a sub-dragon. They are classified as A rank because of their huge size and strong body, but they are not that intelligent. If they had proper intelligence, they could be ranked S."

You're acting on instinct alone. It might be easier this way. It would be more troublesome if they approach slowly and carefully with their huge body and try stomping and biting us.

It's probably a rushy dragon with only instinct. ...... It can crush most of its enemies with a rush, so it doesn't have to think about it. I set my saw to the assault dragon that comes running up from the bottom of the slope and watch it carefully.

You place the saw in front of its paw while avoiding the assault dragon that comes rushing toward you as you did at first. The assault dragon runs through without any response. ......

An assault dragon runs through, loses its balance, and falls down. Blood spurts from its paws, so it seems the saw was in the right place.

I'm not sure if I even hit it if I don't feel any response. The saw seems to have gone in deeper than expected, and the assault dragon struggles as it falls over. .......

"Hey, Sylphy. I can't get close to the thing because it's so wild... what should I do?"

A three-story building of some kind is flailing about like a child who can't get the toys he wants.

"Maybe it's one of the less experienced ones. "Maybe it's an inexperienced fighter," says the man, "but he's panicked because he knows he's hurt. If you get too close, you'll get caught in the middle of it."

Their skin is as tough as iron, so I guess they can't be hurt that easily. I'd be surprised if they got a good magic saw to cut through it. But ...... the current situation is more troublesome than an assault.

After a great deal of violence, the assault dragon finally calms down and slowly tries to get up. Now is the time to come around behind him and cut off his hind legs, causing him to fall down again.

He struggles in pain again, but the leg that has been completely cut off is bleeding more and his movements become slower and slower.

"Should I wait until he bleeds to death?"

I feel like I can put a stop to it now, but it's dangerous if it just rolls toward me.

"If we wait, we can take them down, but the adventurers at the foot of the mountain are scouting up there, and the wyverns are making a lot of noise. It would be safer to take them down and move on.

"I see. All right, I'll go put a stop to it."

I guess everything but assault dragons had slipped my mind. If they make this much noise, maybe they'll come back to check on us. He was struggling as hard as he could with that big guy. It's like an intermittent mild earthquake.

I carefully approach him from behind and cut his head off, while preparing myself to escape at any moment. I quickly stow it and leave the place.

"That was pretty hard work. The adventurers didn't see me, did they?

It wouldn't have been so hard without the cheat saw, but it sure was a lot of work. It took a long time, and I'm worried about the proximity of the adventurers.

"We might have been able to see a figure from a distance, but there are many ups and downs, so we'll probably be okay. Thank you."

"Yuta. Cool... cue... good job... koo-koo...

"Thank you, guys."

I'm quite happy when I get compliments. But it takes time, so next time, we'll take them down quickly with the help of Bell and the others.

**

The cheat pioneering tools are a bit hazy. We were attacked by assault dragons and wyverns several times, but with the help of Bell and the others, we were able to defeat them very easily.

Assault dragons are easily knocked down and pinned down. The wyverns are also knocked to the ground, deprived of the advantage of flying. I just drop the heads of the demons that roll in front of me as if they were a work in progress.

I reach the summit and descend the stairs, gathering pepper and whatever else Sylphy tells me is of value. I guess I'm finally going to meet a real dragon.

"Sylphy. I can trust you with the fire dragon, can't I?"

"Yes, no problem. Yuta, take it easy.

Sylphy says this without a shred of concern, even though his opponent is an S-ranked player. I wonder how strong Sylphy is.

"Okay. Do you want to go in like this?"

"Yeah, sure."

It's kind of light. I open the door to the boss of the 50th layer, trusting Sylphy even though I feel a little uneasy. I thought that the door would be too splendid when it was a goblin, but if it was a dragon, it would be more suitable. As I fearfully peek inside, my eyes meet those of the Fire Dragon.

I was caught in the glowing golden eyes of the Fire Dragon. As I stiffened under the Fire Dragon's power, Sylphy tapped me on the shoulder and urged me to go inside.

As I entered the room with trembling legs, the Fire Dragon opened its mouth and spewed out flames. What the hell? I try to duck and dodge, but I can't move my body properly. I'm completely terrified, and Sylphy takes a step in front of me.

"You're so impatient!

As Sylphy says this, the approaching flames are easily dispersed by the wind.

"That's it!"

At the same time as Sylphy's words, the Fire Dragon's head falls off. Actually, the huge head fell down with a rumbling of the earth, but my impression was that it just fell off. I don't even know what it did.

I think as I watch the blood spurt out like a fountain. I was right not to rely too much on Sylphy.

The Great Spirit is a balance breaker, and if I had relied on him, I would have been either too lazy to play the game, or would have been abandoned by him. Oof. I got a shiver down my spine. I'm so proud of my old self.

I didn't know what had happened, but the belles knew what they had done, and they were admiring Sylphy while playing with her. I'm a little jealous.

"It's over, isn't it?"

"Yes, it's over."

"Isn't Sylphy too strong?"

"He's a great spirit."

"Ha-ha-ha, I see. Well, you know. I'll try not to rely too much on him. I'm going to be a failure."

"Hmm. That's good. I'll help you if you're in danger, but try to work with Bell and the others as much as you can. It's more fun for me."

Sylphy smiles gently, as if she likes my words. This is a pattern that I should never mistake Sylphy's power for my own. It will only take a moment for him to abandon us. I have to be careful.

I've been treating Deene properly... but she's a great spirit like Sylfie... ...... I feel like I've had a life crisis lying pretty close to home. Try not to think about ...... scary things. Deene is Deene.

I approach the corpse of a fire dragon and observe. Glistening red scales. It looks a little smaller than an assault dragon, but it has wings, so I guess it flies. It must have been very strong, for it shot at me just by looking into its eyes.

Well, Sylphy's strength was even more different, so I ended up not understanding anything. ...... Speaking of that, doesn't the labyrinth reveal any treasures after defeating the bosses?

I don't know about the past bosses, but if you beat an S-rank boss, it seems like you should be able to get something out of it. Come to think of it, we didn't find any treasure chests on the way here.

Sylphy. Is there a treasure chest or something?

"I've heard there is. I didn't see any, so maybe they've all been taken by someone else. I believe there is a record of a hero finding a substantial treasure.

...... I bought a book about heroes, didn't I? I didn't read it because I went straight into the labyrinth, but maybe it contains some information about the labyrinth. ....... I'm going to take a rest now and check the book.

Before that, let's check every nook and cranny of the room. Finding treasures is a basic thing to do in a labyrinth, but I've been so busy harassing Guilmouth that I've forgotten about it.

I'm the type of person who opens all the treasure chests in an RPG and then fights against the boss. Even in ......, I'm sure I'd lose my temper if I found some medicinal herbs after struggling to find treasure chests in swamps and ruins. I think it would be smarter to just be happy to find a treasure chest and move on.

"Sylphy. Is it okay to rest in the boss's room?"

"Well, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what's going to happen, so it might be safer to go ahead and rest in a larger part of the cave."

Boss rooms, in novels and such, can be a safe zone until you leave the room. ...... This may not be the case in this labyrinth. Sylphy and the others will watch over us, so we'll be safe in the cave, and it would be safer to find a place to rest in the cave. Let's quickly find a place to rest and read.
