714 Building a shelter for the victims

Mimi lowered her gaze and smiled while looking at Vincent. ‘I feel pleased to know how much each and every one of them cares for each other.’ She thought.

However, the reality hits hard. Mimi recalled how she felt embarrassed to stay in the mansion out of embarrassment. This was the reason she used the excuse to make a deal with her father promptly.

“Are they the counsel of women Vincent spoke of?” Awa curiously asked, snapping Mimi from her negative thoughts.

“I guess I am one of them.” Mimi teased after regaining her usual composure.

“Haha. This is an interesting development. I wonder if I can see a catfight. I do sure love those.” Lucas joked and laughed.

“Catfight? Is it an honorable fight?” Awa questioned out of curiosity. She wondered what a cat and a fight had to do with women.

“Yes, haha.”

“No, it isn’t.”

Awa became confused. She didn’t know who to listen to.

.....

*Sigh* “Duke Lucas loves to joke.” Mimi said while gently shaking her head. “Awa. Catfight is normally seen as a sexy fight between two women as they beat each other and tear each other’s clothes.”

Awa quickly moved beside Mimi. She stared at Lucas as if he was a perverted old man.

“Haha. Looks like your legs are mostly healed.” Lucas joked.

Awa noticed her legs were barely causing her to feel pain anymore. She touched her legs and noticed she felt as Vincent had told her. She was feeling more tired now.

Awa slowly stood on her feet. She skipped twice and smiled. “The pain is nothing my will can not tolerate. Thank you...” She said before stopping from calling Lucas a perverted old man.

Awa looked at her parents and said, “I am going to check on my people. I am their clan chieftain, and because Vincent, the clan leader, is unconscious, it is my responsibility to take care of everyone.”

Awa saw Mimi and Lucas nod once. She looked at Plow resting on Vincent’s stomach. She revealed a faint warm smile and left.

Awa went to Hibiscus and the two other healers. She asked about her father’s condition and became happy to learn her father was going to live.

“Now that the new girl left, can I know what threat level you or your father estimate the monster Vincent took was?” Lucas asked without joking.

“Awa told us the monster Vincent defeated with his power was a colossal undead bear that previously was like the ones we faced. It was also a demonic beast with the properties of a magic beast.”

Mimi moved her gaze to the hole where her father was sucking the blood from the flesh. They believed this was the way to stop the flesh from regenerating. They didn’t know how its regeneration was stunted because of Vincent’s mutation.

“I heard my father mention the possibility of spending one to two full days to defeat it by sucking all of the monster’s blood.” Mimi expressed unhappiness. “But I do not know what terrible things could happen during that time. I do not know if it would reach or attack the city out of the instance to survive.”

“I heard Karta would need to use wind magic to cut the monster piece by piece. Blend everything in a miniature cyclone and freeze the gore. That was the way she defeated the strange demonic beast she fought against.” Lucas explained.

Both Mimi and Lucas looked at Vincent at the same time. Mimi said, ” Vincent became a silent hero.” while Lucas said, ” Vincent has shown us who he really is.”

*T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-thud* Log with a triangular-edged tip after the other impaled itself in the ground. After forming one spiked wall, another barrage of logs was impaled in the ground.

Karta was doing quick construction work with her magic. In less than five minutes, a large shelter with a roof made of logs fitted inside the edges of the wedged walls was easily created.

Any person or creature who looked at the shelter was shocked to see a house being made in such little time. It felt like cheating to construct a building so quickly and so easily.

“One large shelter is done. Now the fine details remain.” Karta said while stretching her back as if she did all the work by hand.

“Duchess Karta. The two logs you requested are ready.” One of the mages said.

Karta nodded. She raised her wand and began casting wind spell after the other until enough wind magic gathered around her.

Karta then used wind manipulation to lift three logs. The logs were hit by sharp wind and precisely cut into thin planks.

As if Karta had eyes behind her back or could see by sharing her perception of touch with the wind, the planks entered the shelter in a long line. One after the other, they were placed on the ground as if an experienced construction worker had done the job.

“Three logs are here.” The royal soldier told Karta.

Karta lifted the two logs with wind magic from his arms. Instead of walls or planks, she made a lot of small stools. Like the planks, they entered the shelter one after the other.

The last mage groaned, “Five logs are ready.” *Huff* “This is going to be tiring.”

“Heh. Stop complaining. When I was your age, I could lift these logs with a flick of a wand.” Karta teased.

“...” The mage could not respond.

The mage knew Karta was telling the truth as her current level allowed Karta to do far more with a single flick of her wand than in her younger days.

Karta lifted the five logs with wind magic and cut them into tall boxes. She then used the wind to gather an unimaginable amount of leaves and placed them in the boxes.

“The makeshift beds are done. ” Karta said after placing the leaves in the boxes to be used similar to a mattress. Similar to the planks and stools, Karta placed the beds in the shelter.

However, the shelter was dark inside. Karta moved the wind to cut some of the walls to make windows. She threw a couple of light gemstones in the air. The wind picked up, and they entered the shelter.

Karta twisted her wand. The light gemstones began spinning along the wind, and they dug halfway into the log wall.

Karta smiled. “Not too shabby if I say so myself.”

Karta saw a lot of Cefeyes and Dullahans looking at her. She felt like a VIP all of a sudden. After a brief chuckle, she waved at the Cefeye and said, “Hey, little guys. You can come inside.”

The Cefeyes looked at each other. They did not move from their place. They acted cautiously after witnessing Karta’s power, even if most of them understood her words and understood she was not showing signs of hostility.

Awa walked among the Cefeye. In her hands was Cefy. She was still unconscious. “Follow me inside.” Said told them.

Awa approached Karta. She moved her head and glanced at Karta.

“I feel bad for calling all the humans slave traders now that I can see your kindness.” She told Karta.

“One of my jobs is to put illegal slave traders in prison.” Karta tapped Awa’s back and continued, “After you place the Cefeye inside, could you tell me your future plans? They are all waiting for you to move.”

“Yes. ” Awa responded. She looked behind her and saw about half of the Cefeye following her. Awa entered the shelter, and half of the Cefeyes, mostly the injured, followed Awa inside.

Hibiscus went over to Karta while stretching her fingers. She took out a potion and started drinking it.

“Using a mana potion already.” Karta looked at the Dullahans. “Well, I guess there are a lot of injured.”

*Sigh* “You and your usual jokes. Based on the destruction around us, it is fortunate that their injuries are this little. Not to mention the Dullahans lost less than forty percent of their people, and the Cefeyes mostly have one or two broken limbs.”

“Haha. You sure do love to chat with your patients like usual.” Karta teased.

“Ahem. To change the subject, I have never heard of the Cefeye race allowing someone to carry their leader without becoming hostile. ” Hibiscus curiously said while drinking a second potion.

“Did you see the Cefeye with parts of its body sheening green? When the Dullahan leader approached me, I noticed the Cefeye was far taller than usual. I almost thought it was undergoing a...”

“An awakening?” Hibiscus asked.

“Yes. That was the thought in my mind, but we have never heard of such a case before.” Karta said before the two of them nodded.

Awa left the shelter and approached Karta and Hibiscus.

Awa looked at Hibiscus and told her, “Thank you for saving my father’s life. I am greatly indebted to you.” She looked at Karta and continued, “The Cefeye feel less tense than before, thanks to you.”

“Vincent told me I could live with him along with my parents. He also told me about giving my people a place to stay without becoming slaves. They would be able to have a job based on their skills, or so he told me.”

After Awa revealed the future plans of her people, she looked at the Cefeyes and continued, “I do not know if they can also be accepted, but I do hope they can stay in a safe place.”

“They can not enter the city because I will not let danger enter the city. Letting your people might be pushing it already as it is because people can see it as amassing a private army.” Karta said while crossing her arms.
