Emilly didn't want to get married, she could see that her mother and father's relationship was nothing more than pure duty and she didn't want any of it, so she fled the Elf Kingdom with the help of a friend of hers.
The two venture out into the world and met Empress Ji who saved them from death, Emilly quickly befriends her.

“Do you have a younger sister?” Yen Chen asked as he looked at her.
"Yes I have," Emilly said, embarrassed that she had run away and left her sister behind.
