"Why didn't you come to see Axel, if you were alive?" Max looked at the guy standing there with a calm look on his face.
He was Axel's brother, Naze Rim.
"Hmmn…..that wimp told you about me? Now that's a surprise, I thought he would still be wallowing in sorrow…." Naze said as he broke out into a smile.
Max looked at him not even finding a single hint of malice or hatred in his voice, yet his words seemed harsh….
"You say as if you haven't been keeping an eye on him…." Max didn't know if Naze had changed or not but even if he did, Max still felt that he wouldn't abandon Axel after going to such lengths to protect him….
Naze didn't reply….
"Stay away from my brother….." Naze suddenly spoke as he looked at Max.
"Huh?" Max was confused by his words.
"He can't control his powers…..I don't want you to die if possible…." Naze's words were nothing but confusing.
But Max was calm, what was the big deal even if he was saying the truth and Axel lost control over his power and tried to kill Max. There were already a dozen people who were trying to kill him. Even Lisa was walking dynamite, how much difference could Axel make….
Besides….
"He isn't weak as you think him to be…." Max said with confidence.
"Well, I warned you..." Naze said in a calm tone.
"Are you an enemy?" Mr. Cool suddenly asked as he looked at Naze.
"Define it…" Naze replied.
Bahamut strangely looked at him.
"Define enemy…" Naze repeated.
"People who stand in my way…..and the ugly people…."
Max rolled his eyes at Mr. Cool, the last part couldn't be anymore unnecessary...
"People who are trying to destroy the world….I haven't even had my first crush yet...." Bahamut said with a sigh.
For some reason Max patted him….poor kid…..
"Huh? You don't even have a crush at that age? Isn't the first kiss supposed to be before 8?" Mr. Cool looked at the two in surprise.
"Ignore him…" Max said and Bahamut nodded.
Max then turned towards Naze who was waiting for his reply.
"They don't have to be a particular race, as long as you meet the minimum requirements….I will gladly kill you…"
Naze smiled hearing Max's reply.
Max didn't want to go in detail for various reasons. Still he was not a fool, he perfectly knew what Naze was trying to get at…..
"I guess this man falls in this category too….." Naze sighed as he looked at Werner.
"Yeah and even though you are not so ugly, standing in my way will still make you my enemy." Mr. Cool said as he took a step forward.
"I will kill him today…..so don't stand in my way." His voice was calm. But there was no hesitation in his voice.
"Now that is troublesome..." Naze massaged his head as he raised his hand asking them to stop. "You really are gonna regret it…besides there still might be some enemy hiding, you sure you wanna do this?"
"Boom!"
An explosion suddenly occurred in the sky and the tremendous shockwave immediately wrecked the district even the defensive formations on few expensive buildings couldn't hold anymore….if people hadn't evacuated to the underground shelter of the district by….then they were dead for sure…
"The old man's done for…." Naze suddenly smiled as he looked at the sky.
"You can move us out of the barrier with spatial manipulation?" Max asked as he looked at Mr.Cool.
"....I can.." Mr. Cool said after thinking for a bit.
"Let's go then, we don't have enough time. I feel that they are going to flatten the entire district…." Max said as looked at the sky. There was a grim look on his face.
Even though they would have to leave Werner alive, it was better than getting caught up in that mess.
"I don't need him anymore, take it as a gift for now…" Naze said with a smile and to everyone's surprise, he threw Werner towards them.
"Do your best, we will meet soon and…..the next time we meet it will be clear whether we are enemies or not..." Naze had a meaningful smile on his face.
For some reason, Max could feel a chill running down his spine. It wasn't out of fear…but for some reason, he was having a bad feeling about it..
"Well then…until next time…." Naze said as his figure suddenly faded in front of everyone's eyes. Even Max couldn't catch his aura….he had disappeared…..
Mr. Cool caught Werner and the next moment Werner's body disappeared.
"He is dead?" Max asked in surprise. Living beings couldn't be transported into the spirit world unless they had a high-grade energy.
"No…" Mr. Cool shook his head as they began to move.
"Then how did you send him in?" Max asked in surprise.
"How? It's my place….so I decide who I want to bring in or bring out…" Mr. Cool said as if it was obvious.
But that was a shock to Max….why didn't he have a control over his own place then..
"We are forgetting about Lear…." Bahamut reminded everyone.
"I am not…." Max said and the next moment a person clad in thunder armor zapped through the sky. He wasn't flying but leaping....
"Bang!" The guy landed on one of the roof tops sending the titles flying around.
Wilson had arrived. He was carrying Lear on his shoulder while his other hand held onto a bloodied man's face. From the looks of it, he had been dragging the man through the streets and roof.
And yeah….the man...was dead…..
"Let go of him you idiot….stop messing around with a corpse…." Lear screamed on Wilson's shoulder and he had been onto it for a while.
"Boom!"
Another explosion and it was way bigger than the last one. The Auction hall below immediately turned to dust. but the shock waves didn't stop there.....
"Sh*t!" Max cursed as the shock waves from the blast spread and obviously it came towards them as well. The waves were destructive. The ground cracked and the rubbled turned into dust.
"Run!!!!!"
Max screamed as he unfurled his wings and immediately went for Wilson.
Mr. Cool grabbed Bahamut and immediately threw him into his spirit world and dashed towards the barrier.
Max caught Wilson and without any hesitation, flew straight towards Mr. Cool.
"I can only transport one more person including myself at the moment….so I will have to let them stay in my spirit world..." Mr. Cool said as he looked at Max.
"Take these two then…" Max who was carrying Wilson and Lear by his arms immediately threw them towards Mr. Cool.
Lear and Wilson were shocked, they looked at Max with wide eyes. They didn't know why they were being thrown as the conversation had went above their heads.
Mr. Cool didn't let them fall to the ground and their bodies disappeared in mid air.
Max flew and caught Mr. Cool as he rushed towards the barrier. He was faster than anyone else after all.
Max kept looking back with a frown…..he was waiting for his spirit snake and Juju, the centipede to return.
"We are almost there, Cat! Hurry, or we might get hit…." Mr. Cool yelled as they were a few meters away from the barrier.
"Tsk…" Max clicked his tongue, he didn't know where his spirit snake was. It was quite dark at the place it was and it seems Juju was the one leading it….Max didn't know what was going through the centipede's head.
But at this moment, Max's senses finally picked up on its where about….they were close enough now…
"Get ready….it will be a close call…" Max warned Mr. Cool as he slowed down his pace.
The waves were almost catching up but Max didn't increase his pace. When they were almost about to be swallowed, something strange occurred….
"Clang!"
The cover of the manhole in front of them flew high in the air and a purple silhouetted shot out of it.
Max had purposely slowed down to match the timing. The purple silhouetted disappeared in Max's body and the next instant they were in front of the barrier.
"Do it!!!"
Max screamed and Mr. Cool immediately clasped his hands.
"Bang!"
The waved crashed into the barrier engulfing Max and Mr. Cool's figure. The barrier shook but still firmly stood in the sky.
As for the scene inside the barrier…well....it was a flat ground….the area had been flattened...nothing was left standing….
It was terrifying scene, one could only imagine the consequence if there were no barriers....
