447 Hopeless case
While he was following the directions from Igneous, Yi Chen was in the workshop trying to assist the old man to fix the music box of one of the nobles who had dropped by the family shop.
The old man could barely see properly thus Yi Chen’s eyes were helpful.
Seeing the young man seriously taking apart the music box the old man couldn’t help but admire him. He finally understood why his daughter was infatuated with this person. He not only saved their lives but he had excellent mechanic skills and he was very knowledgeable despite not recalling anything except that he had a wife.
The only reason they knew his name was because of the embroidered name on his t-shirt. They simply called him Chen but they didn’t know his origins.
Old Du would truly feel at ease if he left his daughter in this man’s hands but the man didn’t like his daughter and he kept emphasising that he was married.
After his daughter’s nonstop nagging he decided to speak to the young man and hopefully get them to tie the knot. While passing the screwdriver the man suddenly cleared his throat and asked, “So... how are you adapting to this place?”
Yi Chen who was seriously scrutinising the music box creased his brow slightly lost in thought while saying, “It’s okay.”
Though Yi Chen was from a much more comfortable Federation which he didn’t remember, he had been subjected to plenty of harsh environments thus he easily adapted, unlike his future husband.

“They will come for me. I have a feeling,” he said and the old man couldn’t help but sigh. He loved his wife and also wanted his daughter to find someone that loved her with all their heart. This man right here already had someone else in his heart but his daughter wouldn’t give up. She kept urging him to convince him but even he could tell it was a hopeless case.
He could only bring the topic towards the night market that was coming up tomorrow night.
Yi Chen had already refused but his daughter had asked for help so he could ask him to watch over his daughter. She was a beautiful girl after all.
“I understand that there is a night market tomorrow and Mi Mi said she wants to go. Has she told you about it?” asked old Du and Yi Chen who was tightening the tiny screws answered with a disinterested,

The old man could only scratch his head and say, “I am a little concerned that if she goes by herself she might get abducted. Can you please accompany her? I will make sure to compensate you. It at least puts this old man at ease.”

“You don’t have to compensate anything. I just need to finish this so you can meet the deadline and I will accompany her. I just thought you would be going with her. The old man nodded his head realising that he hadn’t been anywhere outside with his daughter for a very long time.
“You are right. We can go together. I am sure it would be exciting,” said old Du, and Yi Chen felt at ease. Only the heavens know how his wife would react if they appeared and found him walking with a strange girl on the street.
All he knew was that he didn’t want to lose his wife. His love for his wife was engraved deep in his soul. He could lose everything he had but he couldn’t afford to lose his wife.
Yi Chen finished fixing the music box and closed it while saying, “I think we can give it a try tonight and see if it makes a difference. We can deliver it tomorrow if it’s working fine.”
The old man beamed happily while praising him. “You truly are a genius. I bet your people value you so much,” he said but Yi Chen felt a twisting pain in his chest. He didn’t know who his people were but he sincerely hoped they valued him so much that they would come to find him and bring him back home.
He hoped his beloved would come to find him. He hoped his beloved missed him so much that they would travel through time and space to find him.
The so called beloved was gagging when he saw the bathroom in the motel someone recommended to him. “Fuck no.. uh huh,” he swore while running out of there. He could adapt to anything but that. That was a monstrosity right there.
