“Mom, I told you, didn’t I? Yao Tang wasn’t the one who had tripped me. It was all me—I swear. I fell down by accident,” Yao Ran stuttered, finally finding her voice.
While her eyes were twinkling, her smile had froze. Her fingers drummed anxiously on her thigh as she gazed up at her mother.
Seeing that Qin Man wouldn’t let this go easily, she pretended to be calm and dusted off the edges of her skirt. “I really am fine. The one who’s hurt here is Grandma,” she said again. “It’s important that she’s given proper care.”
She glanced at her nanny. “Aunt Zhang, go and get the ointment I have in my first-aid kit. It’s located below the passenger seat. You’ll know it when you see it.”
Aunt Zhang smiled, nodding. “You really are such a good-hearted granddaughter,” she gushed, glancing at Old Madame Yao. “She’s giving you her most precious ointment. How lucky!”
Yao Ran’s lips twitched in dissatisfaction, and from the corner of her eye, she could see Yao Yuan’s face darkening.
While the old woman was praising her for her filial piety, these words could mean completely differently to Yang Nian. Didn’t this also mean that their family was too stingy to hand over a bottle of ointment?
“So lucky, so filial,” Auntie Zhang continued to praise her, and she could feel her cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
“The ointment is nothing,” she quickly explained. “As long as Grandma’s wound is healed, then it’s for the best.”
Without even waiting for Aunt Zhang’s reply, she hurriedly made her way back to the car.
Old Madame Yao narrowed her eyes as she grabbed a hold of Yao Ran’s hand. Given that they had visitors, it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to go overboard.

As such, her face revealed no emotions as she stared her down. “There’s really no need,” she said strangely. “If you really want to help, Ranran, then perhaps you should return to your place.”
Her words clearly had another meaning.

Yao Yuan did say that he had already performed a DNA test. It said that it had come back conclusive—Yao Tang really was both of their daughters.
However, Yao Ran couldn’t help but feel a little bit strange.
It would be easy for him to hide anything, right? Even inconclusive DNA testing. Maybe Yao Tang really wasn’t as true as they had all initially thought.
Now, all she needed was to sit back and wait for the DNA testing she had done herself.
Then, she’d know the truth.
There were only a couple of days left, and everything would finally come out for as they were.
Naturally, she shouldn’t let anyone manipulate her this easily. Not right now. Not when she finally had the smoking gun in her hand. She bit her bottom lip.
“Grandma, it’s my fault,” she stuttered, lowering her head. “I’m sorry.”
Qin Man’s heart ached.
All she could think about was the old woman saying something inappropriate in front of Yang Nian.
“Come, this is not the time to fight.”
Qin Man hastily butted in. “We must treat these two children equally, without biased, right, Mom? I was rashed and have misunderstood Yao Tang, but your wounds—they really should be treated.”
She took a step forward, gazing at Old Madame Yao’s bruise.
“Yao Tang’s my niece. It is within my rights to discipline her. After all, soon enough, she’d also be presenting the Yao Family, would she not? It’s only our responsibility to train her.”
She was only thinking of the best for Yao Tang.
“I may have overreacted, but I was just concerned for you, Mom,” Qin Man added. “Is it a mistake to be concerned for her mother-in-law? After all, this… this wasn’t Yao Tang’s first incident.”

She glanced at Yao Tang. “My cousin is kind for offering you the ointment, but…you need something of better quality.”
