Chapter 66: “The Bloody Stream Bears Shame”

It wasn’t likely that he died, being in the Core Formation stage. Ye Chen Yuan had only the chance to hurt Ye Baichuan only after he lowered his guard and underestimated the enemy. Otherwise, he was more than capable of severely injuring his opponent, but due to his lapse in judgement, he was the one injured.

Needless to say, when the remnants of the spiritual explosion passed, an old man with a scorching aura, too angry and chagrined for words, stood in the center of a deep pit. His hand, now torn to an unthinkable degree, bent at an unnatural angle from the explosion, had a large amount of blood that soiled his face, rendering an absolutely feral and horrendous sight!

Crestfallen and wretched, he still couldn’t believe that he was put in such a position by a mere Foundation Building cultivator, so the moment he caught sight of Ye Chen Yuan once again, his eyes were set ablaze in abject fury.

“I’ll kill you!!”

The moment his madness-filled roar fell, his entire person vanished, teleported! It was a skill that could only be used in the Golden Core Formation stage!

Ye Chen Yuan moved as well, his footwork being maneuvered to the extreme, and his muscles taut! Though his speed was not nearly enough to rival teleportation, with Elder Li, Ye Baichuan’s movements would be, at the very least, discernible.

“Behind you!” Ye Chen Yuan’s dagger pierced the air behind him in a flash, prompting a perturbed expression from Ye Baichuan, followed by his disappearance the next second.

“To your left!” Elder Li specified once again.

Ye Chen Yuan retreated back, narrowly avoiding Ye Baichuan’s lethal blow! Subsequently, Ye Baichuan clashed with him over and again but to no avail, and, though Ye Chen Yuan could counter his attacks at breakneck speed, he was only at the Foundation Building realm when push came to shove. He managed to escape death several times, but there was a limit to how long his luck could last. The Heavenly Ascending Shield’s bright light was gradually becoming darker and darker under such intense assault. Ye Chen Yuan’s wounds were slowly mounting, his blood staining his white garments crimson and lapping in puddles beneath him. Yet throughout all this, not for a single moment did he ever loosen his hold on his dagger!

Ye Bai Chuan could finally be certain that Ye Chen Yuan could see through his movements. Supposing this, he reinforced his speed to the nth degree, and simultaneously concentrated his spiritual power into his uninjured right hand, his eyes abounding with undisguised killing intent.

“Above you!”

This time, even without Elder Li’s specification, Ye Chen Yuan felt it himself. He raised his head, and, at the same time, the sheer force of Ye Bai Chuan’s killing intent coming down from above was like a tiger that had grown wings!1

“Erupt, Vajra2 claws! Never darken my door again, wicked fiend!”

A streak of golden light descended from the crown of his head, and it enclosed Ye Chen Yuan without any means of escape. Even a cultivator who had reached the Core Formation realm was unable to evade it, let alone Ye Chen Yuan who was gravely injured?

At this pivotal moment of life-and-death, Ye Chen Yuan vanished so suddenly, so untraceably, like a ghost at the break of day!

Ye Baichuan shot his claw through the air, and a loud slam echoed through the premises. The entire yard had been divided into two halves by his weapon, and those who had a low-level cultivation base were stricken unconscious by the quake. However, when Ye Baichuan checked the area of devastation he left behind, Ye Chen Yuan was nowhere to be seen. Ye Chen Yuan… Where did he go?!

He widened his eyes and turned his head in shock, but at the same time, a long sword pierced him from behind through his torso! Like a ghost, Ye Chen Yuan had returned and was actually behind him!

His injuries mounting, Ye Baichuan spit out a mouthful of blood, his face pale, he intermittently said, “You… you have… an Interspatial… Ring!” 3

Only a treasure such as the interspatial ring could create a pocket dimension for any entity or life form to enter, and Ye Chen Yuan, who was but a fourteen-year-old Foundation Building cultivator, had such a storage treasure!

“Father!”

Ye Lei exclaimed hoarsely through dry lips, and the next moment, Ye Chen Yuan drew out his sword and placed it directly on Ye Baichuan’s neck.

Grievously angry, Ye Lei roared. “Don’t be afraid, father! I’m coming to save you!”

Be that as it may, Ye Chen Yuan had become, by far, immensely powerful if even Ye Baichuan could suffer such heavy losses. Albeit paralyzed with fear, Ye Lei gathered his courage and ingested the Enhancement Pill Ye Chen Yuan had offered before!

The fourth-grade Enhancement Pill was able to trigger a surge in spiritual qi within a short period of time and also raised vitality. On these terms, with Ye Chen Yuan being as severely wounded as he is, he couldn’t possibly stand a chance against Ye Lei who’d now consumed the pill.

But even whilst Ye Chen Yuan watched Ye Lei rush over, the hand clutching Ye Baichuan didn’t budge an inch.

Yet in the next few moments, Ye Lei felt the air become hotter, smoldering even, and he felt a crisp, sharp burning as his cheeks flushed fiercely. He hit the ground hard, agonizing and attempting desperately to pull himself from the tortuous burning. He first registered shock, and then genuine, abject terror, as he looked up at Ye Chen Yuan!

Unable to speak a word, he eventually attempted to cover his chest with his hands. His fingers, though, would not obey him. Instead his source of torment only grew worse and worse. His entire body convulsed erratically and, suddenly, his innards exploded, bursting on all sides!

Beholding this scene, those who were still conscious uttered, from fear, countless screams of horror, of denial, of dismay, and self-reproach! They were thoroughly terrified! Ye Lei was blown to pieces from the inside out, and his blood splattered onto Ye Baichuan’s face!

Ye Baichuan was stunned and petrified. His most beloved son had just died so tragically in front of him. He kneeled on the icy floor before his son’s body and wept and groaned bitterly with vast sorrow and deep anger, as if he was a sniveling ten-year-old child!

But a small smile appeared on Ye Chen Yuan’s lips.

Aunt, I finally avenge you.

When he was five years old, his mother had been forced to remarry. It was his Aunt Tianyin who took pity, sympathized with him, and took care of him through those years. But because of this unrelenting kindness, Aunt Tianyin grew to be hated by the Ye Family. From the unfavored daughter of a concubine in the Ye Household, she became an existence that even slaves dared to insult.

If it had been simply a bitter life and some humiliation, Ye Chen Yuan would not detest them so much, but each time he thought of how that kind Aunt of his died, he’s unable to suppress his fury!

Ye Lei, that beast, had taken a fancy to Tianyin after seeing her beauty and wanted to take his own half-sister as his possession. Since she was unable to cultivate, it would’ve been a waste to simply keep her there without doing a thing anyways.

Yet Aunt Tianyin would rather have died than marry him. After refusing him several times, Ye Lei eventually lost his patience and forced himself on her, leaving her with the sentence, “don’t ever cross me.”

But this wasn’t the last of the story. After the family learned of the incident, there were many people who voiced their discontent toward Ye Lei, calling him a foul beast. After all, Ye Tianyin was, regardless, his sister from the same father!

So in order to maintain his beloved son’s reputation, the Grand Elder forced the concubine’s daughter Tianyin to confess to the crime of seducing his son. Aunt Tianyin absolutely refused to confess to such a crime, and was beaten severely by Ye Baichuan himself. In the end… her injuries were far too dire and she slowly bled to death. And when she passed away, the one who forced himself on her, Ye Lei, who professed to be infatuated with her heretofore, never once appeared before her in her last moments. He simply shrugged it off as if she was a hunk of trash to easily discard if he ever felt like doing so. Perhaps there were some men beneath the heavens who are so cold-blooded to not fret over the lives they’ve ruined, let alone bother to concern themselves with the slightest feeling of guilt.

When Ye Chen Yuan decided to come here, it wasn’t to avenge himself.

He just wanted to let the people who harmed his aunt in any way get the redemption they deserved and to find the whereabouts of his mother who was also persecuted relentlessly.

He was unable to do it before, but now he was fully committed, so he came back.

“Look.”

Ye Chenyuan bent over and whispered into Ye Baichuan’s ear, “ Look at this family you created… You are clearly at the end of your rope,4 yet not a single person dares to step forward and come to your rescue, not one dares to even take revenge for your son, do you know why?”

Ye Baichuan’s mouth moved wordlessly, and his face twitched hopelessly, his last words could not be uttered.

Within the ruined pavilion, he gazed upon his family’s descendants, some had fainted, some had escaped, and the others who were still here, kept their gazes locked on the scene for what seemed like an eternity, straining their ears, fearful to even blink, let alone rush to save him.

Ye Baichuan felt deep, deep sorrow–the bitter anger of his soul when he reflected what his present misery was. He could only momentarily relieve himself in the tears he shed as he closed his eyes and turned his head away from his greatest shame! But Ye Chenyuan refused to let him off so easily, “Because they are just like you, bullying the weak and fearing the strong, bullying the good and fearing the evil: just like you, selfish, cold-blooded, and inhumane; Like a group of useless flies. But did you know? The shame I feel to know that I have this wretched Ye family’s blood flowing through my veins!”
