I will be taking that seat

[Surpass Toujiro-sama… huh?]

The old man Hamet was now subtly laughing.

[I admire your determination, but listen up kid, spirit and confidence alone will not get you anywhere.]

The old man’s laugh echoes throughout the meeting room.

Neito also understood himself.  The old man didn’t view anyone else more capable than Toujiro. That was how Metallica ran with the illusion of having a “president” despite not having one.

[Regarding your proposal… I have some comments in that regard]

Neito was proposing to take over other small evil organization and uniting them under Metallica’s banner.

This was an unavoidable step if he wanted to conquer the world.

[Yes, Metallica expands its influence throughout the world, but in no way are we the only evil organization in existence. Our, no, Metallica’s ultimate objective is total control over the world. If that’s the case, we need to knock down the other evil organizations before we can make the first step.]

That’s right, it was even written on that recruitment ad.

The job description had only 4 characters as its objective. He worked to make those words a reality. And that as a guide, he came this far.

The final battle was getting close. In order for them to settle in and fight the forces of justice, they needed to knock down the other evil organizations first.

Neito waited for Hamet’s response/

But Hamet just shook his head.

[There’s no way we could approve of it.]

It was a cruel and cold voice.

Hamet stared into Neito, with his face full of wrinkles, it gave of a certain vibe of experience.

Raz, who was sitting beside Hamet, only nodded silently, eyes still closes. Headfield was still listening at their conversation, all the while tapping the table with his finger.

Everybody in the M-meeting didn’t have any plan of approving Neito’s proposal.

Headfield was already assured, but the other two on the other hand…

[May I ask why? Tsurugi is currently acting as head of the first sales department, and conquering small time companies. I don’t recall any problems coming up…]

Before he departed for America, Neito already issued an order to Tsurugi to gather and eliminate other small time organizations within Japan. In short it was already a project in the making.

But Hamet still looked at him with cold eyes.

[You still can’t understand the majority… Maybe the seat of the executive was too much to give to you… My eyes have been clouded…]

Annoyance came to Hamet.

[……. I’m sorry. If it is possible, can I ask for an explanation?]

Another gamble. I can’t lose this proposal. I’ll find a way to make them approve of it

Neito wasn’t planning on backing down.

[…….Very well. Headfield, teach this kid why]

Whether it was Hamet getting bored, he passed his task to Headfield.

[If you please will Professor H]

Neito acted friendly to Headfield, but his eyes said otherwise.

[……..V-Very well… Listen here Komori-kun… T-This may seem too much for you after hearing about the president… but I still would like to exercise some sense of convenience…]

He wasn’t getting anywhere with that kind of explanation.

[Please keep it short and as bluntly as possible.]

Neito answered back in a sharp tone.

[Y-Yes!… then…]

Having cleared that obstacle, Headfield began his explanation.

Among the other major organizations, there were some who couldn’t attack Metallica itself.

MegaDeath, Anthrax, Nirvana and few others.

Just by their names, they stood equal to Metallica and Crimson.

The reason started when each of those companies were still gathering power. They forged a relationship between themselves that strengthened over time.

No matter what day and age it is, it was impossible for a sole company to rise up all the while having enemies.

Have a mutual agreement, forge alliances and a cordial peace agreement. As long as it stops other companies from ruining your own, you would plan ahead and secure your company first.

It may be understandable that small companies would break their promises to the agreement, but it is no longer feasible if that company is running on a global scale. There was too much a risk when declaring a war.

That was Headfield’s explanation.

[… I see… Even for evil organizations, was it that normal? I came from being a lowly henchman so I did not know… but,]

Neito lied. Of course he knew of it beforehand. It was common sense. He still wanted to interject his idea.

[Then what of it? Now that we have integrated Crimson into Metallica, the company’s power and influence is at its peak. We just need to scrap that alliance or agreement. We’ll just crush anybody that disagrees with us. Is it not possible?]

Neito still didn’t back down from his idea. He determined that this was the fastest and most efficient method.

[… Komori, I see where you are coming from, but I would say it is not a good plan.]

Raz, who had been quiet for a while, decided to speak out.

His words were heavy as he was Metallica’s strongest and most experienced General, the man who followed Toujiro in search for battle.

[If we somehow manage to overcome the other companies… Let’s say MegaDeath, what do you think will happen?]

[That’s…]

Neito understood what Raz was trying to say. No, to be precise he “knew” what Raz was implying

[No doubt after seeing one of the company which Metallica was allied to fall, the others would form an alliance and try to take down Metallica.]

Metallica was currently the strongest among its peers.

As long as the agreement between companies exists, they were “safe” from attacks.

If Metallica were to be the one who deliberately breaks the agreement, no doubt the other companies would view Metallica in a hostile light.

Who will Metallica attack next? Will it be us? Or will it be the others?

When the other companies share a common concern or enemy, an alliance can easily be formed between them.

Metallica would not be able stand against every evil organization out there if they were to come into one.

Raz nodded after listening to Neito’s response.

[Then the fight will drag on. There is no other way out of it. We may be able to stand a chance if given the circumstances, but in return, we won’t come out in one piece.]

Raz further added in his analysis.

Listening to this, Hamet also voiced out his opinion.

[Indeed. Even if we manage to defeat every evil organization, what would be left of us is a weakened Metallica. What will that result bring? Do you think we still would be able to fend off an attack by the Rocks organization then?]

Neito bit his lip and answered.

[That would be impossible…]

The words of the executives rang true to every sense.

In the first place, other companies posed no threat to them currently, so it was an unnecessary action.

He didn’t know how they would treat his idea if he was Toujiro, but their words stuck to the truth.

Instead of an unnecessary attack to take over other companies with a slim chance of succeeding, it was far logical and better to wait for the day where each individual company is weakened before taking action. That way, the chances of them succeeding was way higher.

Neito understood what they were trying to say.

[Fumu, you finally understand.]

Hamet took a deep breath and treated the matter as finished business.

[It’s unfortunate Komori-kun… Well, you are still young. There are times when such things happens.]

Headfield was smiling as he sympathized Neito. He was surely enjoying this moment.

Neito received a huge no for his proposal.

[Very well… I understand.]

He gave up. He gave up on his proposal.

At least, for the first part of his proposal.

[I understand we can’t take on the other companies without putting Metallica at risk…]

Everything was going to plan, as he and Tsurugi discussed.

They have established that going against other companies was dangerous. That idea was out of the picture. Yet they still need to do it. Wait for a company to weaken? There’s no way that would happen. Create that opening? How much is the success rate for that?

There was no way they could just sit idle.

If there was someone who’s going to do it, it had to be himself. There was no other way.

[Then I have another suggestion.]

That’s why he planned ahead.

He needed to find a way to minimize Metallica’s losses, and crush the other companies at the same time, all in one swoop.

This was also his ticket to stand on top of Metallica.

[You have another proposal…?]

[Now now Komori-kun, you sure don’t know when to give up…]

[I get the feeling that this is your real proposal… Go for it Komori.]

The executives changed their tone and focused their attention on him.

[Yes… I don’t plan on backing down.]

Neito stood up.

In order for him to rise to the top, he needed to overcome all the obstacles that come at him.

Before he knew it, from a lowly peasant, he was assigned as head of General Affairs.

His weak methods up until now wouldn’t fare well in a global stage. For him to succeed this time, he needed to do something unprecedented by his previous actions.

Furthermore, he now knew about Toujiro’s death. The executives were so keen on keeping this a secret, they wanted his throne alive in people’s memories. With this in mind, his path to becoming the president had a lot of obstacles.

But,

Everything was for this moment.

The reason why he took over Crimson,

The reason why he volunteered as to be experimented on as an enhanced human,

The reason he made the Santaana his allies.

Everything he built up was for this sole moment.

He would gamble everything for it.

As he stood up, Neito looked at each of the executives faces. Seeing that he got their attention, he broke the silence.

[I am going to revolt against Metallica.]

In that single moment, time stopped inside the conference room.

What is this guy saying?

Everybody in the room was staring at him with those eyes.

[Wha-! What do you mean by that Komori?!]

The first to react was Raz. He was fuming like a wild boar.

[Are you planning… On betraying Metallica? For you to casually say it… I’m getting full of you. Then do you plan on making us enemies?]

The next to react was the consultant Hamet. His killing intent was like a snake, prepared to pounce on the kid that was in front of him.

Headfield didn’t react, but it may be because he couldn’t comprehend him words and what he meant.

Neito raised his right hand, as if to stop them and continued,

[Please calm down… by “revolt” I mean, that is how it would look like from the outside.]

[Where are you getting at…?]

Hamet was still spilling his murderous intent, but Neito was now smiling.

[In easier terms, it would be called “branching off”. In principle, I would be ultimately betraying you.]

(TLN: Replaced “Company venture” to “branching off” for reader friendliness)

“Branching out” is a word commonly used in the business world. Creating a new sector from a previous existing sector and building it up as a company.

[To be specific, I am going to take the First Sales Department, Santaana and Crimson to create a new company. While Metallica supports it from the shadows, that “new” company will be the one taking on the other evil organizations. We will be the one to crush them one by one.]

[Komori… You…]

[You have good intuition General Raz. Of course, I will be the one on top in addition to another person.]

The reason why there were two presidents was because he determined he couldn’t do it alone.

[Thus the context will be “Youth feels confident in his abilities and revolts against his company. Now he seeks to take over other evil organizations”… How about it?]

Everyone in the room was now silent and focused on him again. Nobody dared to bat an eyelid.

[There are two advantages to this plan. First, Metallica won’t have any issues with the other companies. After all, we may have come from Metallica, but we are just a fraction of its strength. There’s no way the other evil organizations will takes us on seriously. Not that Metallica is on friendly terms with them either.]

Neito was now pacing down the room. Step by step, his steps echoed in the room.

He was trying to get rid of his nervousness. All for him to climb to the top.

Even if he was scared, even if he was embarrassed, he bore it in.

He let the dark flame inside him burn fiercely.

He didn’t know when exactly he recognized this, but know he had free control over it.

As he kept walking, the flame inside him burned brighter (or darker?)

[Secondly, this presents Metallica with a low risk-high reward situation. Even if I fail, no harm will come to the company, but on the other hand, if I manage to succeed…]

The flame was now burning brighter and brighter.

He now passed Raz, Hamet and Headfield’s backs. He stopped at the chair reserved for Toujiro.

[I will unite every conquered company alongside with the company that branched off… and return back to Metallica.]

Neito now made it clear what his intentions was.

[… Wha-…?!]

The other three villains in the room was speechless on Neito’s declaration.

It wasn’t as if they didn’t understand,

They should have a general gist of what would happen.

Crimson was now a disposable company since Metallica had already gotten hold of their “Over-Technology”.

If Neito were to succeed and that new company would come back to Metallica, the gains would be huge. Presented with a low-risk situation, the odds were in their favor.

Yet this still presented problems to the executives.

[…….. Komori-kun, it is not like we don’t understand what you are proposing, but I have my doubts against it. To be honest, that company you are going to create is going to be crushed. On another note, how will the general Metallica assembly react against your revolt? Do you think they’ll easily accept you back into the company? Hamet-sama, will you allow such thing?]

Aside from Headfield, Hamet and Raz remained silent.

He imagined what Headfield meant. It may be a new organization, it was still small compared to Metallica. In truth, the chances of the succeeding was very slim.

Looking at it from one side, it seemed relevant, but he was wrong. Only Headfield thought of it as a relevant topic.

[Allow? Do you not understand? This has gone beyond that point of me being allowed back into the company.]

Neito calmly rebuked Headfield. Looking at Headfield, there was no way he could take back what he said now.

[If you won’t approve of my proposal and provide support from behind then I can understand… If that’s the case, then I will revolt against Metallica for real.]

That’s right. That was all there is to it. He’ll just revolt with Tsurugi alongside Crimson.

Company loyalty? Who cares about that? That was just how the world worked.

[Then I would have to eventually face off with Metallica in the future. Of course, I won’t go down that easily. I’m not confident that I could win against Metallica, but I’ll be sure to give you a hard time defeating me. I’ll have you prepared to make sacrifices in the future. With a weakened Metallica after the battle, what will you do next?]

Neito looked at Hamet.

Both of them stared at each other, both evil in nature. Neito didn’t plan on backing down.

He had the wits to outsmart justice, the spirit to make necessary sacrifice.

[… You brat…]

Fight fire with fire.

Making Crimson into an enemy already posed a considerable threat to Metallica’s might. If they were to go in without the necessary back-up, Neito couldn’t guarantee the safety of his employees over at his new company. If he fails, he will be the only one to fall, but if he succeeds, the company will have massive gains.

Hamet always had the aptitude to read people’s emotions and behavior. Then all the while better. He needs to know that “I” am prepared to face and fight Metallica.

The one who first folded his gaze was Hamet.

[…Impressive (you brat)…]

Hamet praised Neito’s words.

[Haha… Hahaha… Kuhahahahaha!!]

The room that was once silent was now full of laughter. Of course, the owner of that laugh was no other than Raz.

[Komori! You sure are an interesting fellow! For you to make Metallica bend according to your plans is impressive! Despite that weak figure of yours, this was unexpected! No one else but you could pull something like this off! You’re not like Toujiro’s type, but you are no doubt a villain yourself!!]

Raz was happily praising him.

[Thank you very much General Raz. I will accept your words of praise. Then, is it okay with you?]

A new organization (company) would be established as Metallica is supporting them from the shadows. After everything is settled, that company will merge back into Metallica.

There was nobody opposing to his idea.

[… Very well. I will allow it. But remember kiddo, the path you are going to tread will lead to hell.]

Hamet’s words were true.

As Headfield said, it would be difficult to secure a win with a newly established organization. It may seem reckless if you ask around.

Neito already knew this.

[Of course… I am well prepared for it.]

That is only “when” he manages to defeat ever other organization and merge back to Metallica.

When that happens, the world’s first ultimate villain would be born.

[… And if I manage to succeed after overcoming that hell…]

There was no need for him to say the words. If he manage to achieve such feat, the position he would receive in return is no other than…

In reality, he could ask for anything then, but the dark flame inside him burned brighter.

To the top. That was his objective.

Neito looked at the vacant (president’s) seat in front of him. To be able to seat at that chair and look at his company, be the ultimate villain of the world…

Neito proudly declared,

[I will be taking that seat.]

I was a small, yet cold voice.

Yet that was a roar within him.

That day, a new organization emerged named “Slayer”

The one who was going to kill the world.

Sheesh who knew being a responsible member of society was a tiring thing… Have you seen the LN art for this novel? It really looks like it was taken from Persona
