Chapter 104: The Truth Behind The Guotai Theater (1)

Guotai Theater.

Near twelve o’clock, the lights in the theatre were off. The audience had already left, and the heavy curtain had been pulled up, covering the stage. The seats underneath were all empty.

The whole theater was plunged into darkness, with not a glimmer of light. And since there was no one, it was particularly spacious and empty.

As soon as the clock hand pointed to twelve o’clock, the curtain in the theater suddenly moved. It slowly pulled open to both sides, little by little, and the second curtain also began to move up.

There was no one in the control room, yet the curtains moved by themselves. After they opened, the whole stage was exposed.

The next second, an angelic singing voice came from the empty stage. After listening carefully, they were the lyrics of Romance of the West Chamber.

There was a stage actress Xiao Zhou that had not left. In order to practice more, she had specially asked for the key and was about to leave.

Xiao Zhou was changing her clothes in the dressing room. As soon as she came out of the dressing room, she heard the vague singing coming from the stage.

Xiao Zhou was so dazed that she thought she was too tired and had misheard. She closed the dressing room door, turned on the flashlight on her cell phone, and walked over to the stage.

The more she approached, the clearer the singing was. Xiao Zhou had performed on the stage for several years, so she naturally recognized that the singer was skillful, and the voice was incredibly touching.

Xiao Zhou thought that the actor, like herself, wanted to stay and practice more, but it was strange that she had never heard of this voice before.

When Xiao Zhou walked to the edge of the stage, the singing came to an abrupt end.

Xiao Zhuo used the flashlight to illuminate the stage. “Who was there just now?” There was only an echo in the empty theatre and no answer.

She frowned at the opened curtains and wondered why this person did not answer.

Xiao Zhou took out the key, opened the control room door, manipulated the switch, and closed the curtains.

After doing all this, she locked the control room and went to the door. Before she reached the door, she suddenly thought about the person in the theatre. If she left, that person would be locked here.

Only she had borrowed the key. The other one was with the security guard.

“Hey, I’m leaving. Would you like to come with me?” Xiao Zhou shouted in the pitch-black air, but there was still no answer.

Wait! If there was only one key, how did that person get into the control room?

Xiao Zhou suddenly felt cold all over her body. Feeling the chill rising from the soles of her feet, she almost couldn’t move.

The next second, the unfamiliar singing voice came out of the closed curtain again.

“The moonlight dissolves the night; Spring’s lonely in the flowers’ shade. I bask in the bright moonlight; Wondering where is the lunar maid?…” It was the lyrics of Romance of West Chamber, and the singing voice was clear.

Xiao Zhou’s heart jumped wildly. She lifted her soft feet and rushed out of the entrance as fast as she could. There was still a singing voice behind her.

Since that day, Goutai Theater had been haunted by rumors. Not only had Xiao Zhou experienced it, but the other actors also encountered strange phenomena one after another.

Guotai Theatre was not far from Ye Sui’s house, but she didn’t have so much free time to check every haunted place.

Ye Sui was completely ignorant about the rumors of Guotai Theater. She took some time to make chocolates at home.

This was not just ordinary chocolate. Rather, it was filled with love for Chen Shu.

Ever since Ye Sui and Chen Shu were together, Ye Sui was very convinced of the strategies mentioned by those netizens. She felt that what she had done before must have affected him to some extent.

Ye Sui didn’t know that, in fact, no matter what she did, it would attract Chen Shu.

On the contrary, if it were another woman, Chen Shu would have turned a blind eye to it, even if that person had made a hundred love chocolates.

Ye Sui especially bought a super large heart mold. Half of it was for Chen Shu, and the other half was for her.

Ye Sui hummed a song while making the chocolate in the kitchen. A strong sweet smell pervaded the whole room.

Suddenly, there was a sound of something falling on the ground. Ye Sui kept her original movement. She just leaned over and took a glimpse.

Chapter 104: The Truth Behind The Guotai Theater (2)

It was the napkin on the tea table that fell on the ground. Ye Sui ignored it, thinking that she hadn’t put it away when she was drawing the paper just now.

Ye Sui continued to stir the chocolate, grounding it almost to the core. She took it out of the kitchen, where the table was already spread out with plastic wrap and a love mold on top.

Ye Sui carefully poured the chocolate into the mold, ready to sprinkle the chocolate with her favorite nuts she had bought earlier.

Yesterday, she had taken an indirect approach to ask Chen Shu, but he didn’t think about what he ate at all. Let alone nuts, he couldn’t even tell what he liked best.

Ye Sui couldn’t pry Chen Shu’s mouth open, so she could only choose according to her own preferences. She was certain Chen Shu would like what she liked.

Ye Sui sat patiently at the table, making two little hearts on the love-shaped chocolate.

While Ye Sui was decorating the chocolate, there was a sudden singing sound in the living room.

“The moonlight dissolves the night; Spring’s lonely in the flowers’ shade. I bask in the bright moonlight; Wondering where’s the lunar maid…”

Ye Sui’s action turned sluggish. She was so frightened that she dropped the nut she had picked up. It rolled all the way to the direction of the living room.

Anyone who heard a song in an empty room would be afraid.

Ye Sui remembered the lyrics very clearly. She had sung it on the variety show she recently participated in to frighten the stars.

When Ye Sui was in the bathroom at that time, she had seen a few words of the Romance of the West Chamber appear in the mirror. She used it during the shoot and sang the song.

However, she hadn’t expected to take the ghost home!

The singing continued. Ye Sui sat still in her original position as she stretched out her trembling hand to reach the mobile phone not far away.

Ye Sui dialed Chen Shu’s number. She would be able to build her courage once she heard his voice.

The bell rang for a second before Chen Shu picked up. “Ye Sui.”

When Chen Shu’s voice came from the other end of the phone, Ye Sui felt more at ease. “Chen Shu, I just wanted to hear your voice.”

Although Chen Shu was a little slow in terms of emotion, he immediately guessed her meaning. “What’s the matter? Are you afraid?”

What Chen Shu said in the next second completely reassured her.

“I went home early, and now I’m almost at the door.”

As soon as the voice fell, a sound came from the door. The door opened, but Chen Shu did not hang up the phone. Instead, he walked in with the call still connected.

Ye Sui immediately found that the singing in the living room had begun to change. The original graceful pleasant voice started trembling and finally forgot the lyrics.

She originally wanted to give the chocolate to Chen Shu as a present. Unexpectedly, however, he always came home early recently, so she couldn’t prepare a surprise for him.

Chen Shu hurried towards Ye Sui. He was about to ask what had just happened, but he was stunned when he saw the table with chocolate.

With Chen Shu in, Ye Sui was naturally not afraid. She cast off the “ghost thing” first, pointed to the chocolate on the table, and said, “I made it for you. Do you like it?”

Sure enough, Chen Shu immediately nodded.Yes.”

Chen Shu knew that Ye Sui had indirectly asked him about nuts last night. He didn’t like anything, in particular, so he couldn’t answer her.

“I like pistachios, and I like this one.” Chen Shu boasted about all the nuts on the chocolate.

Even so, Ye Sui was happy.

When Ye Sui put the chocolate in the refrigerator, she remembered that she seemed to have forgotten something. The scary singing ghost was still in her house.

Ye Sui went to the living room and found a female ghost in the clothes of the Republic of China standing in the corner of the living room.

When the female ghost saw Ye Sui’s eyes falling on her, her eyes lit up. “You really are a soulmate.”

It turned out that the female ghost was Gao Zhiyun, the owner of the haunted house. She had seen Ye Sui sing Romance of the West Chamber at that time and determined that she was an understanding friend. Hence, she found Ye Sui.

She didn’t think Ye Sui could really see her.

Ye Sui wondered about Gao Zhiyun’s purpose. “What do you want me to do for you?”

Chapter 104: Romantic Night (1)

Gao Zhiyun sheepishly smiled. “I like singing the Romance of West Chamber most. I want to have a chance to perform again on the stage.

“I want you to be my audience.”

Gao Zhiyun didn’t mention Chen Shu. Even if she wanted an audience to listen to her, she dared not let Chen Shu, who was full of yang energy, come over.

Ye Sui seemed to think of something and said in Chen Shu’s ear, “Do you want to go on a date with me in the evening?”

Chen Shu had returned early in order to spend time with Ye Sui, so of course, he didn’t have any opinions.

Ye Sui looked at Gao Zhiyun and said, “I can provide you with a theatre. You can call all your former friends, but my husband will go with me.”

Although Gao Zhiyun was afraid of Chen Shu, she thought it would be good to have one more listener.

Ye Sui helped Gao Zhiyun to contact an empty theater that night. She borrowed it from a friend for one night.

The whole theater was brightly lit in order to fulfill Gao Zhiyun’s wish.

Gao Zhiyun invited many of her little sisters and people who loved singing as much as she did, and they all performed together.

When the ghosts came over in high spirits, they discovered Ye Sui and Chen Shu sitting in the first row of the theatre, and their legs suddenly softened.

Those ghosts obediently vacated two rows of seats and keenly sat in the back, leaving some private space for Ye Sui and Chen Shu.

Although Chen Shu could not see the ghosts, he could hear the songs coming from the stage. Besides, Ye Sui was sitting next to him, and even if he couldn’t see, this was a date in disguise.

Chen Shu subconsciously wanted to reach out to hold Ye Sui’s hand, but unexpectedly, she moved his hand to the side. “You forgot something. If I touch you, I also won’t be able to see them.”

Chen Shu withdrew his hand with resentment and sat obediently in his seat.

Gao Zhiyun and her singing friends stood on the stage. It was a mystery from where they found the costumes. However, coupled with their singing, it was indeed a sight to enjoy.

Ye Sui leaned against Chen Shu. At the moment, she and Chen Shu were alone in the theater, enjoying the ghosts’ performance. This was indeed a unique and unmatched date.

Ye Sui glanced at Chen Shu, who had carefully folded his hand on his chest for fear of touching her hand. She observed his expression and found that although his eyes were focused on the stage, his mind was wandering elsewhere.

Chen Shu’s distracted look was so cute!

Ye Sui smiled silently. She took out a pair of gloves from her bag and put them on her hand. She had prepared herself before she went out.

“Chen Shu,” Ye Sui leaned near Chen Shu’s ear and softly called him.

As soon as Chen Shu heard Ye Sui’s voice, he immediately turned his head and looked at her.

The next second, Ye Sui reached out her hand, passed it through Chen Shu’s arm, and took the initiative to hold his hand. “Husband, let’s hold hands on our date.”

Chen Shu’s displeasure from before vanished into thin air. He couldn’t hold Ye Sui’s hand earlier, so he had no mood to listen to the song, but now, it was different.

Ye Sui felt Chen Shu’s tightened grip, causing the corners of her mouth to curl up. She found her husband quite easy to coax.

After leaving the theatre, Ye Sui and Chen Shu drove away. Ye Sui felt a little hungry and bought something in a nearby restaurant that was still open. She sat in the car to finish her meal.

The car was parked by the side of the road. After finishing her midnight snacks, Ye Sui got down for a walk, which was helpful to aid food digestion.

Ye Sui and Chen Shu walked along the edge of the street. It had already snowed for a while in the evening, and now, the ground was covered in a white layer. She had dressed warmly and was also tightly hugged by Chen Shu, so she naturally didn’t feel cold.

As she walked, Ye Sui suddenly felt the tiny snowflakes sweeping across her eyelashes, bringing a little chill with them.

Ye Sui paused, looked up, and said in surprise, “Chen Shu, it’s snowing.

Chapter 104: Romantic Night (2)

In the dark night sky, the street lights along the road were bright. The snowflakes floated to the ground, blanketing the surroundings into white.

Chen Shu frowned and helped Ye Sui hold up the umbrella. She stood under its shade and watched the snowflakes fall.

When they stopped, Ye Sui found that they had unwittingly come to a restricted zone.

This palace, which had a history of hundreds of years, belonged to the Xia-Zhou dynasty and had now become a national museum.

Ye Sui gradually learned about the history of this world while filming. The Xia-Zhou Dynasty didn’t exist in her original world.

From the outside, only the red wall and yellow roof tiles could be seen. The falling snow covered the roof tiles. The scenery inside was hidden by the closed door. They could only rely on their imagination for the ornaments and decorations in the palace.

Ye Sui suddenly smelled the fragrance of plum blossoms. The cold scent drifted through her nose and inexplicably produced a sense of familiarity.

She raised her head and looked at the red palace wall. When the snowflake fell, it left a white mark behind. Somehow, she suddenly felt the urge to go in and have a look.

The museum was closed at night, and there were only patrol staff on the premises.

Seeing Ye Sui looking inside on tiptoe, Chen Shu felt strange and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“I’ve never been to the Xia-Zhou imperial palace, so I’m just a little curious.” She also didn’t know why she had a sudden urge. Ye Sui shook her head, and that fleeting thought immediately disappeared.

Ye Sui turned around to look at Chen Shu and was about to say they should go home, but she noticed his eyes filled with meaning.

He had been observing her when she was looking at the red walls and yellow roof tiles.

Chen Shu gazed at her intensely. He would only show such eyes to her. His nose was so good-looking, tall and straight, and the lips were also really beautiful,  with clear lip lines…

Ye Sui had countless praises in her heart, and she could boast about his face for several days and nights. However, these compliments could only be summed up into two words at this time.

Kiss him.

The cold, tiny snowflakes floated into the umbrella as Ye Sui got closer to Chen Shu. She said in a low voice, “Chen Shu, I am cold.”

Chen Shu took the umbrella in one hand and arranged Ye Sui’s scarf with his other hand, wrapping it around her neck. When he leaned over, he happened to meet Ye Sui’s eyes.

Ye Sui tilted her head, her eye hiding deep meaning, like a seductive woman. She bent her lips, smiled slyly, suddenly stood on tiptoe, and pressed her lips against his.

The distance between their lips was only a millimeter. Just as they were about to kiss, a snowball hit the middle of the two, shattering the romantic atmosphere.

Ye Sui felt the pain of being hit by a snowball. Then, there came a peal of clear laughter like a silver bell. It belonged to a child.

There they go again. What happened at home the other day seemed to be repeating!

Why! Ye Sui really wanted to scream at the heavens. Why were there so many obstacles to even having a romantic relationship these days?

Ye Sui’s face grew cold as she turned to look in the direction of the laughter.

A child, wrapped in a bloody cotton-padded jacket, stood there, laughing with his belly in his arms. At first glance, he was not a normal child but a ghost who roamed the streets in the middle of the night.

The child ghost, who was still grinning, saw the furious Ye Sui, and the smile on his face immediately froze.

Under the influence of Chen Shu, Ye Sui’s courage and ability to fight ghosts had grown considerably.

In the depths of the winter night, a ghost child stained with blood stood in the floating snow with timid eyes. He bent down and continued to make snowballs and throw them in her direction.

The strange scene fell in Ye Sui’s eyes, but it only reminded her of one thing.

In the fragrance of plum blossoms, white snow, and silent streets, making such a romantic scene, the atmosphere she painstakingly created just now was destroyed by this child.

The next second was supposed to be a kiss, but she didn’t kiss him at all. She was really aggrieved.

Ye Sui pulled in the snow at her feet, rubbed out a snowball, and threw it back in that direction. Feeling angry, she shot with unfailing accuracy.

The little devil child couldn’t continue to harass them, as the snowball had hit the mark.

Chen Shu watched helplessly as the snowball hit the air not far away. It left behind a vague shape. The figure paused, seemingly to be in pain.

Ye Sui, who was clearly pissed off, roared at the little brat, “Do you know that interrupting adults’ romantic love will be punished by God?”

Chen Shu: “…”
