Chapter 92: Ill-Fated Love (1)

While Chen Shu was preparing for his proposal at the hotel, Ye Sui was also getting ready to confess.

Going to the flower market was just a cover. After Ye Sui strolled around and spent some time, she decided to leave.

Leaving the flower market, Ye Sui carefully swept her eyes around and confirmed that Chen Shu’s car had disappeared. She wanted to keep the surprise a secret, so she must not let him find out.

At night, the temperature in Lu City was suitable. Ye Sui walked along the street lamps to the place where the cruise ship was rented.

Before coming, Ye Sui had already communicated with the company. She would rent a cruise ship for Chen Shu’s birthday.

Ye Sui had already paid the deposit. Due to her full work schedule, she had made a lot of money. The cost of renting a cruise ship was nothing to her.

Ye Sui made the last payment. Fortunately, the ambiance here was dark, so the staff did not recognize her.

Tomorrow night, she would celebrate Chen Shu’s birthday on the cruise ship. Fireworks and everything else had been arranged beforehand.

Chen Shu’s 30th birthday would be a turning point in their lives.

Ye Sui left the place where she had rented the cruise ship and prepared to walk back in the flower market’s direction. Returning there, Chen Shu would pick her up.

Ye Sui had agreed with Chen Shu to meet her at the flower market. However, she had changed her location. So she needed to get back before he noticed her actions.

She entered the word flower market on her mobile phone and clicked on the shortest route.

A cold navigation sound came from the mobile phone: “Mobile navigation is starting. Please pay attention to your safety when traveling at night…”

Ye Sui followed the route of mobile navigation, and before she knew it, she took another road. She felt a little strange. Although the distance was getting closer and closer, was this road really the way to the flower market?

Suddenly, the sound of laughter came from a distance. Ye Sui looked up and saw the coast in front of her. She could feel the fine grains of sand in her sandals, with tiny particles sticking to the soles of her feet.

Ye Sui had taken a wrong turn and came to the seaside.

She stopped and looked at the scene in front. In a white wedding dress, the bride was walking towards the groom step by step, her father holding her hands.

Ye Sui was stunned. It was a wedding by the sea.

Guests were sitting in the open air, the sea breeze was blowing, and small bulbs were strung into long lines along the road. They glittered brightly, making the whole place seem full of stars from a distance.

The wedding seemed to have no restrictions on guests, with some tourists and pedestrians loitering around.

Perhaps the smile on the bride’s face was too content and radiant, but Ye Sui could not help being attracted. She walked to the wedding scene.

The bride had come to the bridegroom, wearing a veil. She could vaguely see the face with delicate makeup and beautiful features.

Especially those eyes that were full of endless love.

Ye Sui stopped on the side. Looking at the bride and groom’s eyes, she stood rooted for a while.

Under the presence of witnesses, the bride and groom read their vows and exchanged the rings. The groom then lifted the bride’s veil and saw her tears fall.

Ye Sui’s mood unconsciously followed their emotional ups and downs, and every scene touched her heart.

In an instant, the wedding was over. The bride held the bouquet in her hand and walked in front of everyone. Knowing what was coming next, the guests squeezed forward.

The bride was standing on a platform (stage) by the sea, with a newly-married joy on her face. She shouted, “I am going to throw the bouquet.”

She glanced at the onlookers. “Anyone can catch it.”

Chapter 92: Ill-Fated Love (2)

Ye Sui stood there, not ready to move forward. Hearing her words, the tourists all crowded around to join the fun. As a result, she was pushed forward by the wave of people.

The bride turned her back. Although she hadn’t moved yet, the guests were eager to give it a try. Her arm was held high, the bouquet arcing back under the dreamy light.

The bouquet was tossed up. Drawing a beautiful parabola in the air, it fell into Ye Sui’s arms.

Ye Sui: “…”

The bride turned around and swept her eyes though the crowd, noticing her bouquet in the hands of a stranger.

Ye Sui wore a mask and black-framed glasses, dressed very low-key, and seemed to be just an ordinary person passing by.

The bride curved her lips, waved at Ye Sui, and then cheered, “The stranger who received the bouquet, I wish you happiness.”

Ye Sui suddenly smiled. She raised the bouquet and waved in the bride’s direction, signaling that she had heard it.

At the end of the ceremony, the guests left the venue. The crowd also began to disperse, along with Ye Sui, who took the bouquet with her. Ye Sui carefully protected the bouquet, hoping that both the bouquet and the bride’s words would bring her luck.

After Ye Sui left the boisterous scene, she called Chen Shu and asked him to pick her up.

On the way, she passed a fortune-telling place. The fortune-teller was a blind old woman, with a man and a woman sitting in front of her.

Ye Sui had barely heard a few words. Not knowing what the old woman said, the man felt guilty and refuted. “Old woman, what nonsense are you spouting?”

The woman next to her also chimed in, “Old woman, you are deceiving people. Be careful, or karma will strike you!”

The old woman was not angry, though, and continued to insist on her views. “If you think about it carefully, your first wife is still pregnant and waiting for you to return. You should stop womanizing and be a good husband.”

Suddenly, the man turned furious. He kicked the table fiercely and then reached out his leg to stamp the things on the floor.

As he stepped on them, he scolded, “You speak nonsense!”

Ye Sui frowned. Although she didn’t believe these things, the man’s reaction was too drastic. She immediately went up and said, “Stop it.”

The man stopped and turned to look at Ye Sui. When he saw a woman wearing a mask, he was even more disdainful. “What? Mind your own business.”

Ye Sui: “I don’t want to meddle in your affairs. I just want to advise you not to get out of hand.”

The man snorted. “The old woman is speaking nonsense. If I don’t teach her a lesson, she will really think she is a deity.”

After that, the man wanted to continue smashing the shop of the sorceress.

Seeing that the man did not listen to the advice, her look suddenly turned cold. She picked up her mobile phone and shook it in front of the man. “OK, you keep smashing.”

The man was stunned as Ye Sui smiled faintly. “I have called the police. If you don’t want to be caught, leave quickly.”

The man glanced at Ye Sui’s mobile phone. He obviously didn’t believe her words. “Who are you kidding?”

Ye Sui smiled, looking calm. “You don’t believe me?”

She then looked down at the time. “It has been two minutes since I called the police station. They should have set off long ago.”

Ye Sui stared at the man, saying word by word, “Let me see, do you still want to smash things in this shop, or would you like the police to catch you?”

The man was successfully deceived. He didn’t expect Ye Sui to be so difficult to deal with. Ye Sui lifted her chin and smiled sarcastically, as if saying, ‘Smash if you want. I’ll just watch the show here.’

The female companion pulled the man’s sleeve and whispered, “Forget it. Let’s go.”

The man was scared that the police would arrive, so he had to leave. Ye Sui saw the old woman groping for something on the ground, ready to pick it up.

Ye Sui said, “Old woman, let me help you.” She bent down and lifted the table that the man had kicked.

Then, she put everything back on the table. Although the fortune-teller couldn’t see Ye Sui, she appreciated her help just now. She sincerely said, “Thank you, girl.”

“Just now, the man was with a woman, but the man already had a wife. The girl accompanying him was his lover, and they both intended to seize his wife’s company. His wife was pregnant, and I couldn’t bear it, so I gave them advice.”

Ye Sui realized why the man was so angry. The woman’s words had deeply poked his heart.

The sorceress suddenly said, “Girl, let me tell you your fortune, as a thank you for helping me.”

Although Ye Sui did not believe this, she sat down.

“Give me your hand.”

Ye Sui extended her hand. The fortune-teller touched Ye Sui’s palm and smiled. “Girl, your husband is a very nice person.”

Ye Sui felt odd. How did this woman know? At this time, she added another sentence, “Girl, is he surnamed Chen?”

Chapter 92: Ill-Fated Love (3)

Ye Sui finally believed that this fortune-teller had some skill. She was a bit curious. “How do you know?”

The sorceress smiled, pointing to her eyes. “Although my eyes are blind, my heart is not.”

The woman then stopped talking. She continued to touch Ye Sui’s hand, and for a long time, she didn’t speak.

After a while, the old woman seemed to see something. Her eyes were still blank, but there was a trace of fear on her face.

The fear soon dissipated, and the woman showed an expression of regret. Finally, she sighed. “Ill-fated love, ill-fated love.”

Ye Sui was puzzled. “What do you mean by ill-fated love?”

“You and your husband had bad karma in previous lives.”

Ye Sui frowned. This was not the first time she had heard these words. Before, when she went to the Taoist temple to seek the charm, she had met a Taoist on the road.

The man also said that she and Chen Shu had fate in previous lives. However, at that time, she only thought that the man was a liar and didn’t take this sentence to heart at all.

But today, the old woman mentioned it again. She had even divined her husband’s surname, so Ye Sui had to believe it.

The lady’s eyes were blind. When she looked at Ye Sui, her empty pupils seemed to see through her heart.

Ye Sui didn’t speak, continuing to listen carefully.

The old lady said. “Your husband killed too much in his past life. In this life, he will have such a hard time.” She seemed to have recalled what she just saw, and her mind trembled with fear.

Hearing the old lady mention Chen Shu’s hard life, Ye Sui believed her even more and quickly asked, “Why do you say this?”

The lady shook her head. “There are some things I can’t disclose; otherwise, I will offend the heavens.”

Ye Sui bowed her head in disappointment. “What was my relationship with my husband in the past life? Why do you say that our love is doomed?”

The lady said with certainty, “You are a husband and wife, but…”

Ye Sui asked nervously, “But what?”

The lady gave Ye Sui a piteous look, “You two were very distinguished in previous lives, but your feelings were full of frustrations and dashed hopes.”

Ye Sui was silent for a few seconds before asking, “What about him and me in this life? How will our feelings develop?”

She was going to confess to Chen Shu soon. Hence, she was both nervous and excited.

The sorceress didn’t answer this question directly. Instead, she said, “Little girl, let me remind you: Your husband will face a big disaster in the coming days.”

“If he survives, his life will be smooth. But if he doesn’t…” She didn’t speak again but appeared solemn.

Ye Sui didn’t expect the sorceress to say this at all. She was fraught with worry. “What kind of disaster? Could you tell me how to solve it?”

The sorceress handed Ye Sui a note. “If necessary, you can open this. It will give you directions.”

Ye Sui took the note and held it tightly. This scene obviously looked like a scam, but what the old woman said seemed faintly true to her.

She thanked the sorceress and stood up, ready to leave. The witch dropped a sentence behind her. “Some people might be scheming against you during this time. You must be careful.”

Ye Sui strolled forward. For some reason, she recalled what the lady had said to her. “Your husband will face a disaster. If he survives, his life will be smooth.”

“But if he doesn’t…” At that instant, the lady’s expression was compassionate and sympathetic.

Ye Sui thought carefully. Why did she say there would be a disaster in Chen Shu’s life? What kind of disaster was it?

Ye Sui was thinking when suddenly, a rumbling thunder came from the distance. The sound only rang for a moment and then stopped.

Chapter 92: Ill-Fated Love (4)

In a short time, it began to rain rapidly. The clear night sky was now gray, as if it had been covered with a dull curtain.

The rain was so heavy that it was difficult to see ahead. The pedestrians hurried through the streets with umbrellas in hand. No one wanted to stay outside in this rain.

At this time, the rain turned into a downpour. Water drops dripped down her nose, which seemed to be a dangerous omen.

Ye Sui looked at this gloomy day, and suddenly her heart welled up with inexplicable panic, her heartbeat increasing. It was as if something was pounding her heart, and it made her feel terrible.

Ye Sui bowed her head and took out the note given to her by the fortune-teller. As she opened it carefully, her hands trembled. The paper spread out, revealing the handwriting on it.

Ye Sui looked at it carefully, for fear of misreading. There were only a few words written on the note.

A life for a life.

Ye Sui’s thoughts churned. Maybe if Chen Shu wanted to get through this disaster, he must fight with his life. She had never imagined that the impending crisis would involve death!

She continued to think. ‘A life for life, that is, one life person lives and the other dies. Whose death would it take to exchange for Chen Shu’s life?’

‘What if… that person is me?’

Ye Sui bit her lips. If Chen Shu was in danger, what would she do at that moment? At once, she had a definite answer in her heart: She didn’t want Chen Shu to suffer any harm.

No matter how many times she pondered, she would always choose to do so and protect the person she loved.

At this moment, a sudden gust of wind swept past Ye Sui’s fingertips. She lost her grip, and the note slipped from her hand.

Ye Sui bent down and tried to catch the note, but she failed. Eventually, it hit the floor and became soaked, the words gradually blurring.

Ye Sui looked at it blankly. The panic in her heart was getting stronger and stronger.

She suddenly recalled Old Master Chen’s words. He had told her that a fortune-teller once said that Chen Shu was ill-fated, and it was hard for him to survive past thirty.

But Chen Shu had been in good health since she got married. So she more and more felt that this was impossible.

But now, this thing was clearly revealed in front of Ye Sui. The old woman told her that Chen Shu would have an accident, while the fortune teller said that Chen Shu could not live more than thirty …

The pieces of dominoes collided with each other in a seemingly coincidental manner, but it was more like pre-ordained.

Ye Sui vividly remembered that tomorrow was Chen Shu’s 30th birthday. In other words, Chen Shu was likely to die tomorrow.

Her heart jerked. No, she must not put Chen Shu in danger.

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through Ye Sui’s mind. If Chen Shu would encounter death, it was unsafe for him to walk outside.

He better stay in the hotel now, while she would stay by his side and keep staring at him. Also, the two would not go out tomorrow. Instead, they would spend the whole day together.

As Ye Sui thought about it, she was about to cry. The idea of Chen Shu in danger made it difficult for her to control her emotions.

But she knew that at this moment, she must be calm; otherwise, she would only be in a state of confusion and mess up everything.

With trembling hands, Ye Sui picked up the phone. She wanted to call Chen Shu, but her hand was shaking. Her mobile phone almost fell to the ground.

Ye Sui’s hand crossed the screen, but she was so nervous that she almost dialed the wrong number.

Ye Sui murmured to herself, “Don’t panic. Be calm…” She couldn’t let Chen Shu find anything strange.

Ye Sui took a deep breath and found the correct number. This time, the number was dialed, and after only a few seconds, the call connected.

In the silence, Ye Sui seemed to hear Chen Shu’s gentle breathing. She tried her best to control her emotions as she called his name, “Chen Shu.”

In the pouring rain, Chen Shu’s clear voice sounded and gently reached Ye Sui’s ear. “Hmm.”

Not knowing Ye Sui’s current thoughts, he asked with concern, “It’s raining now. Have you brought an umbrella?”

Ye Sui looked at the rain falling like a waterfall, and her anxiety became more intense. She called his name again, “Chen Shu.”

“What’s wrong?”

Chen Shu’s voice was gentle, like the quietest wind, which seemed to dispel all her uneasiness.

Ye Sui could even imagine Chen Shu’s expression when he said this sentence. When he saw that it was raining, his first reaction was whether she would get wet.

But being so good, why must he face tomorrow’s disaster?

Ye Sui sniffed, eyes full of tears. She adjusted her mood, her voice still trembling a bit, “Chen Shu, let’s go back to the hotel now.”
