Chapter 95: Like you So Much (1)

CHAPTER 95: I Like You So Much (1)

Chen Shu lowered his head. He suddenly felt Ye Sui’s fingers moving slightly, and the soft touch gently rubbed his skin.

He had been interlocking Ye Sui’s fingers, and he could notice every subtle movement in her body at once.

He suddenly raised his head and looked at Ye Sui’s face.

Chen Shu was stunned for a few seconds. He didn’t dare believe what just happened was real. It took him half a minute before he realized that Ye Sui’s finger had truly moved.

Chen Shu’s eyes lit up, and he immediately got up from the bed.

Due to his shock, Chen Shu even forgot to ring the bell to call the doctor. Instead, he walked straight out of the ward and quickly looked for a doctor.

Chen Shu: “I felt Ye Sui’s hand move.”

Hearing this, the doctor hurried into the ward. Yan Lan and Xiao Liu also rushed behind, waiting expectantly for Ye Sui to wake up.

Yan Lan: “Ye Sui must be waking up.”

“Ye Sui’s finger moved just now. Will she wake up soon?” Chen Shu asked anxiously, pestering the doctor.

The doctor did not give an affirmative answer. He did some examination before concluding, “Ye Sui is showing signs of waking up, but it is still unclear.”

Being in a coma was hard to diagnose; perhaps the patient may wake up immediately or sleep all the time.

The doctor had seen many such cases. He would not fulfill the family members’ expectations but would convey the most objective conclusions and give them no unnecessary hope.

Yan Lan and Xiao Liu wept at once when they heard the doctor’s words. Still, they didn’t dare to cry out loud but only shed tears silently.

Chen Shu’s eyes dimmed for a moment. He had just said so much, but it seemed to be just an illusion. He regained his former silence.

An endless wait and hopelessness were the most frightening, as if the road ahead was boundless, and all the things were unknown.

Chen Shu sat by the bedside again, staring unblinkingly at Ye Sui, waiting for her next movement.

These days, Chen Shu had been by Ye Sui’s bed, and he had no time to do other things. Wang Chuan even helped answer his call.

Wang Chuan received a phone call from the hotel. The hotel manager told him the room booked by Chen Shu would expire tomorrow and whether he wanted to renew it or not.

Wang Chuan originally wanted to tell him, but when he saw this picture of Chen Shu, he didn’t have the heart to disturb him. Therefore, Wang Chuan went to the hotel by himself.

As soon as Wang Chuan entered the room, he saw roses everywhere on the floor, which looked like they were put together carefully. But now, they were all blown away by the wind, and the shape of rose petals was no longer distinguishable.

Wang Chuan knew that this should be the surprise that Chen Shu had prepared for Ye Sui.

But Ye Sui didn’t get to see it before she got into a car accident. Also, his boss didn’t get to see her reaction but remained in self-blame and pain.

Wang Chuan called for someone to take his luggage to the hotel. He then walked around the room to see what he had left behind.

In the next second, his gaze fell on a small box on the table.

Wang Chuan had a hunch. When he opened the box, he found that there was indeed a ring inside the box.

This ring must have been for Ye Shu as well.

Wang Chuan carefully took the ring and hurried back to the hospital.

When he pushed open the door, Chen Shu was still maintaining the same position before he had left, sitting motionlessly by Ye Sui’s bedside.

Chen Shu’s gaze was always on Ye Sui, paying attention to any subtle reactions she had. As soon as she woke up, he would be the first to find out.

“President,” Wang Chuan called out with difficulty.

It took a few seconds for Chen Shu to react to the fact that Wang Chuan was calling out to him. He slowly turned around and looked at him, his eyes blank and unfocused.

Wang Chuan stepped forward, took out the ring box in his pocket, and placed it at Ye Sui’s feet.
“This is what I brought back from the hotel.”

Chapter 95: Like You So Much (2)

“This is what I brought back from the hotel.” Wang Chuan didn’t request his boss to rest, because he knew that he was willing to wait beside his lover until she woke up.

Wang Chuan put the ring down and left the room.

The atmosphere in the ward quieted down again, and only the cold instruments made a constant noise. In a while, Chen Shu picked up the box by the bed and opened the lid.

It was custom-made by Chen Shu. He had guessed the size of Ye Sui’s finger, but he didn’t know whether it fitted or not.

Looking at Ye Sui on the hospital bed, Chen Shu’s eyes went blank, and suddenly an idea came up.

Chen Shu opened the box and placed it on a small table next to the bed.

His fingers were cold as he carefully picked up Ye Sui’s hand, with a needle inserted on its back. Chen Shu took out the ring and put it on Ye Sui’s ring finger.

Ye Sui’s fingers were too thin, so the ring slid in easily.

Every time Chen Shu and Ye Sui held hands, his attention would be mainly concentrated. He would only feel her holding his hand wholeheartedly.

He concluded that the ring’s size was just right and that the ring could only be worn on Ye Sui’s ring finger.

However, Ye Sui did not respond.

Chen Shu sat in the dim light. He always felt that the darkness was endless, and he couldn’t get out of it.

If Ye Sui did not wake up one day, he would always be in this darkness. In a while, he removed the ring.

“I will not put the ring on you right now.” Due to not speaking for a long time, his throat was dry, like a fish on the verge of water shortage. He could only struggle to breathe in the fresh air.

“I must wait for you to wake up before I put the ring on you.”

Chen Shu was afraid—afraid as hell. He was worried that after he put this ring on Ye Sui, she would disappear. Thus, he would wait for Ye Sui to wake up and then propose to her again.

“Ye Sui, please wake up.”

Chen Shu’s voice fell into the silence of the hospital room, but there was no response.

Ye Sui was still in a coma, but her physical condition had improved. The doctor said the possibility of waking up was high.

Chen Shu pretended that Ye Sui was sleeping, and he stayed in the same room with her. He slept in a nearby hospital bed at night, and as soon as he woke up, he would remain by her side immediately.

It was already the fourth day since Chen Shu took back the ring. His arrangements at the rooftop replayed in his mind.

Chen Shu firmly believed that Ye Sui would wake up soon.

After she woke up, he would continue the unfinished proposal. Still, the ward couldn’t be decorated as carefully as before.

Chen Shu didn’t buy roses; he was afraid he could not take good care of them. He was also scared that Ye Sui, who was now in poor condition, would feel uncomfortable when she smelled the floral fragrance after waking up.

The sunlight outside the window was bright, falling on Ye Sui’s cheek. Her pale face, delicate and beautiful, was more fragile than the blazing sun outside.

Chen Shu looked at Ye Sui’s face and said to himself, “Ye Sui, do you like roses?”

He didn’t know whether it was his illusion, but Ye Sui’s long eyelashes had moved slightly.

When Chen Shu blinked, Ye Sui had returned to her original calmness. He lowered his head, a bit lost, and began to talk to Ye Sui, “Then I will make roses for you, OK?”

Chen Shu opened the mobile browser and checked an online tutorial. For people like him, origami was a very complicated thing.

He was clumsy and tossed around for almost an hour before finally folding his first rose.

Chen Shu opened the drawer and put the rose in. He paused briefly to think, and then put that ring box in the center of the drawer.

From afternoon to evening, Chen Shu sat in front of Ye Sui’s hospital bed, folding roses for her. As if afraid Ye Sui was bored, he talked to her while busying himself.

One by one, the folded roses were placed in the drawer of the small table next to the bed.

Chen Shu’s current behavior was like a child’s. It was as though as his marriage proposal progressed, Ye Sui would be a little more sober.

On the fifth day.

Chapter 95: Like you So Much (3)

On fifth day.

That night, Chen Shu only drank a little porridge and sat back next to Ye Sui.

As with every previous day, Chen Shu checked whether the quilt covered Ye Sui or not and whether there was any trace of movement.

Chen Shu took Ye Sui’s hand and leaned over to look at her face, which he had seen countless times. Her features were deeply imprinted in his heart.

Ye Sui’s eyelashes moved slightly and quivered.

Chen Shu stiffened and stared at Ye Sui’s face. He called out tentatively, “Ye Sui?”

As if she had heard Chen Shu’s call, Ye Sui’s hand in Chen Shu’s palm moved slightly, her nails pricking at his skin.

Chen Shu knew that it was really this time, not an illusion.

Ye Sui opened her eyes groggily and met Chen Shu’s gaze. Her bright eyes were exhausted at the moment. Despite her sickly appearance, she was still beautiful.

When she saw Chen Shu, she tried to speak and opened her mouth, but her throat was too dry to make any sound at all.

“Doctor!” shouted Chen Shu to the outside, but he didn’t dare leave Ye Sui’s bed.

Chen Shu took Ye Sui’s hand, not wanting to let go. He was afraid that if he let go, she would close her eyes again like before and lie on the bed without moving.

Chen Shu rang the bell, and the doctor immediately rushed over.

The doctor examined Ye Sui briefly and would do detailed tests later. “There’s nothing too wrong with your body, but you still need to recuperate from your injuries.”

After making sure that Ye Sui had completely regained consciousness, Chen Shu’s heart, which had been stuck in his throat for a few days, finally relaxed.

Only then did Chen Shu let go of Ye Sui’s hand. His palm was already sweating with nervous, happy, celebratory, and other mixed feelings.

Ye Sui leaned on the hospital bed as Chen Shu fed her a few cups of warm water. The water slid through the throat, relieving her thirst.

After Ye Sui could speak, she called Chen Shu by his name, “Chen Shu.”

Because she hadn’t spoken for a long time, Ye Sui’s originally soothing and beautiful voice became hoarse, and her throat ached.

“I’m here.” Chen Shu sat by Ye Sui’s bed and locked eyes with her. He took a look at her hand, touching her fingers gently to make sure what he saw was real.

Ye Sui laughed helplessly. “I’m fine already.”

The wound on her body was still hurting, and Ye Sui could feel the marks left by the car accident on her body. The pain reminded her that she had returned to the real world.

The door to the ward was pushed open, and Yan Lan walked in quickly, tears falling uncontrollably. “Ye Sui.”

Ye Sui squeezed out a smile. “Mom, don’t worry, I’m fine now.”

They had all waited too long for this moment.

Wang Chuan and the others also came, and after seeing Ye Sui safe, they gave each other a wink and left. Yan Lan closed the door with him, leaving the room for the couple.

It was already night.

Ye Sui looked at Chen Shu. This was not her hallucination. Chen Shu was indeed sitting safely in front of her.

Those earlier scenes were still floating in her mind. Chen Shu would suffer a big disaster, which would happen before he was thirty. Now, had he escaped the crisis?

Ye Sui had been in a coma for a long time, and her mind was heavy. After leaning for a while, her thinking cleared.

What the fortune-teller said was still ringing in her ears: a life for life. Did her narrow escape from death verify her words?

After Ye Sui woke up from the coma, the first person she thought of was Chen Shu.

In the silent ward, Ye Sui and Chen Shu locked gazes, thinking about each other.

Ye Sui still remembers what she had said to Chen Shu before the accident. She lowered her eyes and whispered, but what she didn’t expect was…

The two spoke at the same time, “You remember, before the accident…”

They were both stunned, their eyes unconsciously meeting. They both seemed to have guessed what the other party wanted to say. Ye Sui quickly looked away and pursed her lips, waiting for Chen Shu to speak first.

Chen Shu stared at Ye Sui and said softly, “At that time, I was ready to confess to you.”

Ye Sui was startled. She curved her lips and looked up at Chen Shu. “Me too.”

Chapter 95: Like You So Much (4)

She looked straight into Chen Shu’s eyes, her gaze burning. “I heard everything you said by the bed.”

Chen Shu: “You were conscious, weren’t you? I knew you’d wake up…”

Chen Shu stopped in mid-sentence, suddenly remembering something. “I have something to show you.”

Ye Sui nodded. She sat quietly, waiting for Chen Shu. A small bulb was lit in front of the bed, and the light illuminated the side table.

Chen Shu bowed and bent over to open the drawer under the table. The light spilled on the dark drawer and illuminated it.

Ye Sui was stunned. Her eyes slowly moved down to see inside the drawer, where the folded roses were neatly arranged.

In the middle of the rose was a red velvet box that she had never seen before.

Ye Sui was shocked once again. She looked at the paper roses beside the box, and her expression became more tender.

The paper roses he folded with his hands had more sincerity than buying a lot of roses from everywhere.

“When you were asleep…” Chen Shu didn’t use the word coma. He just said that Ye Sui had been asleep for a few days and didn’t wake up.

“I folded these roses, hoping that you’d see them when you wake up.”

Ye Sui spread her hands and looked into Chen Shu’s eyes, indicating to him that she wanted to hold them.

He was a little embarrassed when he picked up a rose and placed it in Ye Sui’s palm.

Ye Sui sized up the roses Chen Shu folded, her eyebrows curled, and she giggled. “I didn’t expect that you would still do crafts now.”

She lifted her eyes to look straight at him and spoke seriously, “I like it. I really do.”

Darkness was reigning outside the window, and the moonlight fell quietly into the room.

The tender moonlight, red roses, and a red velvet ring box… it seemed that the most appropriate moment had arrived.

Chen Shu took out the ring box surrounded by roses. He acted carefully and opened the box to reveal the diamond ring inside.

His clear voice made the air around him hot. “I imagined giving this box to you personally one day.”

The diamond ring was put on Ye Sui’s finger. It was neither big nor small, fitting just right.

Ye Sui’s tears slipped from her eyes. She was so touched that she couldn’t say anything.

A few days ago, he didn’t have time to confess his love, but now, he could finally do it. Unvoiced confessions were not unnatural but tactfully came to him.

Chen Shu spoke first, his tone carrying the joy of losing and regaining, “Ye Sui, I like you.”

Ye Sui opened her hazy, teary eyes and looked into Chen Shu’s eyes. Her voice was still a bit choked. “Chen Shu, I super like you.”

Two people, who had never been in love and were naive and young, repeated the word ‘like’ carefully. No matter how many times they said it, they didn’t seem to get bored.

Chen Shu emphasized, “I like you the most.”

Ye Sui laughed. “I like you more than you like me.”

Chen Shu’s voice became low, and he held Ye Sui’s hand, gradually moving closer to her. “Then we will be together from now on.”

Ye Sui had not yet spoken when Chen Shu bent down and kissed her. His hand caressed her back and embraced her, a numbing sensation spreading from his fingertips.

Her breath froze as her lips pressed against his, and their nose touched. His breath was so close, lingering gently in front of her.

The moonlight outside the window was cold. The clouds covered the moon, making the light disappear. In the gentle night, the atmosphere grew ambiguously.

Ye Sui closed her eyes, only to feel her heart beating faster. Chen Shu’s scent surrounded her.

Chen Shu was cautiously probing. He touched her lips lightly, not yet deep. His kisses were light and heavy, coming one after another.

When his lips came down again, he pried open her mouth and dove in, gently wrapping his tongue around the tip of hers. Like a soft breeze, he completed a clumsy and inexperienced kiss.

Ye Sui reached out and wrapped her arms around Chen Shu’s neck.

Her lips were soft and warm. The two embraced each other tightly, and their warmth melted the long, cold years before their encounter.

‘I like you so much.’

‘Then, let’s be a real couple, OK?’
