The five mounted animals leap out of the gate at once.

The crowd surrounding the street erupts in cheers.

Hippopo, my rider, and Sharil, Loa's rider, their legs are graceful and their bodies move forward as if they were sliding.

Their body movements are so smooth and graceful that you could almost call them graceful. Hippopo and Sharil accelerate rapidly. Even so, the speed is only about 70% of their full speed.

This is something that Roa and I are used to, and we can even afford to look around slowly.

"Huh?"

I can't help muttering to myself.

Right behind me, to my right, are Roa and Sharyl. But that's it.

I turn my body to check behind me. There they are, clinging desperately to the reins of their mounts, Her Highness Princess Lily and the other three.

"Too slow, isn't it? It may be a lot slower than it's supposed to be: ......"

The cat-shaped synthetic beasts I was involved in developing should have been a little faster.

Maybe they've been slowed down by the change of generations. Or maybe it's the skill of the rider.

I look ahead for a moment, and then turn around again.

I see Her Highness Lily just in time.

Her eyes widen in astonishment. It seems that she really thought that her cat-shaped cavalryman was faster than my Hippopotamuses.

Well, they sure do look a lot more rounded. But most of them are muscle. In addition, their eight legs are highly capable of rapid acceleration and braking.

The high acceleration performance of the eight-legged hippopotamus and its ability to maintain high speed due to its abundance of muscles are superior to any other trained beast.

The two-tailed cat-type cavalryman certainly has a certain running performance, but its essence is its high three-dimensional maneuverability.

Perhaps His Highness Lily knows this.

Watching His Highness Lily and the others in the rear, who are getting further and further away from us, he shows a determined look on his face. Their eyes are directed to the woods around the road.

His Highness Lily's reins are broken, and the three cat-shaped cavalrymen move out of the way.

The cat-types leap over the spectators who are still scattered around the road.

"Well done!"

That's quite a piece of horsemanship. It seems that Your Highnesses Lily and the others are not so bad. The reason for the slowdown is probably the alchemist attached to the royal castle who was involved in the breeding process.

I look around.

The road turns to the right ahead, along the forest. And then Her Highness Lily and her friends left the road and entered the forest on the right side.

That is, they are going to take a shortcut through the forest.

Roa drives Sharyl and lines up next to me.

"Master Rust! What do we do?"

"Are you sure you want to do this? If the distance to the mausoleum is as I remember it, I should be physically able to reach it with all my strength!"

Got it!

Roa and I tapped Hippopo and the others on the shoulder and signaled to them.

The smoothness of our footsteps creates an explosive sound on the street, which until then had seemed quiet.

It is the sound of two mounted beasts stamping and gouging the earth, propelling themselves forward as fast as they can.

The streets crack with the sheer force of the explosion.

Holes appear in the footprints of the hippopotamuses.

The bones and muscles of Hippopo's sturdy legs ripple with the sheer force of the impact.

This was the true spirit of Hippopotamus, which they rarely let out.

I'm going to have to fill this up properly later, or I'll get in trouble.

I bend down so that my body is almost touching Hippopo, and cling to him as I fight my way through the headwind.

The scenery is drifting backwards at a tremendous speed.

The crowd around the street, rolling their eyes at the sound of our footsteps, our speed, and the gouged out street, drift past the edges of my eyes.

How could such a crowd have gathered in such a short time? Oh, no. The people on the street are avoiding us.

Hippopo pulls away from even the loa and moves forward. Finally the mausoleum comes into view.

I force myself to look up and look for the Lily's. I see them.

"...... are you there?"

"Master Rust! Right next to me!"

His Highness Lily and the others jumped out from a break in the trees right next to us.

If we keep going, we're on a collision course.

I get the feeling that the world is moving slowly.

His Highness Lily's face as she notices me. Surprise and fear are on her face. But her figure, covered in branches and leaves, is quite an interesting sight.

It was then. Hippopo's body was covered with magical elements. All the magical elements gathered into Hippopo's eight legs and were released at once.

It was like a cannonball.

Hippopo and I, riding in the car, reach the mausoleum in a single bound, leaving behind Her Highness Lily, who jumps out of the car.

And then, with a great rush, we passed through the mausoleum.

"Unroll! Rose!"

Rose ivy overflowing from the scroll. The ivy gently envelops Hippopo and me. The ivy is stretched, but it kills all its speed.

I come to a safe stop and look back.

It seems that Her Highness Lily and Roa have just arrived at the mausoleum that I can see far behind.

Relieved that I had won my bet for the time being, I headed for them.
