We headed for the building we had decided on as our destination for the time being. In the lead are sisters Ary and Loa. Behind them is Master Halhammer with his hand on the potion holder, keeping an eye on it to make sure it is always ready for use. I follow at the tail end, deploying the scrolls.

A completely unfamiliar place. It is full of things I have never seen before. The resilient floor is covered with strange patterns here and there, and here and there a rod-like object protrudes, probably made of metal.

The time seems longer than it actually is.

It was when we finally approached a building that appeared to be close by.

Something comes out from behind the building.

It is bipedal and looks about the height of a child. Its face looks like a fake cat. Two of them approach, swaying their bodies from side to side.

They are empty-handed.

We watch them cautiously, exchanging opinions quickly.

"I wonder what that is. A small golem in the shape of a cat?"

"It moves smoothly. It looks more like a stuffed animal than a golem. A cat doll, perhaps?"

Rebbe Harhamer replies to my opinion. The texture certainly looks fluffy.

"Be careful. I can't see through it at all. Dangerous."

Loa warns while holding his spear.

"Ary?"

I call out to Ary.

"It's not right. I sense hostility, too. But there's no response from the future-seeing eye..."

Arri replies, holding up his spear in the same way as Roa. The cat dolls, which had been shaking in a bobbing motion, suddenly stop shaking.

The next moment, the cat dolls leap and approach us. Their mouths are opened wide, and four sharp fangs are spread out in front of them as if they are thrusting forward.

At this rate, the fangs are on a trajectory to pierce Ary and Roa.

But both of them calmly swing their spears in their hands.

A flash.

The tips of their spears each catch the cat doll and cut it in half.

The cat doll that I have glimpsed from where I am standing seems to be a non-living thing, judging from the cuts on it.

However, I could not confirm this clearly. The moment the remains of the cat dolls fell to the ground, they made a sound and turned into smoke.

"The remains disappeared?"

I crouch down and search for the place where the bisected wreckage should have been.

All the remains of the cat doll were gone.

But instead, I find a fallen object.

A thin, round object the size of my thumb. I pick it up.

A gold coin? I've never seen that design before."

"Rust, it's coming back!"

At Loa's warning, I hurried to my feet and turned around.
