After a two hour long bus ride, the second years of Shirakawa High finally made it to their destination.

"Ahhhh, we're finally here! My back was starting to cramp up from all that sitting," Eiji stood up from his seat and stretched his arms.

The lush green forest that has been carefully maintained for the last several decades had finally entered their vision as the bus pulled into the parking lot of the camping area.

Even though it was called a camping field trip, it wasn't 100 percent authentic camping.

They would be living in log cabins that were separated by gender and have access to the public showers and bathrooms, but everything else they had to do by themselves.

"Takei, wake up. We're here," Akari nudged his shoulder.

"Mmmmmm, too early... Come back in a few minutes please," Takei muttered, half-awake.

Akari exasperatedly looked at Takei when he refused to get up. "Wow, I can't believe there are gigantic humans roaming the Earth outside as we speak!"

"Really?!"

"Nope."

Takei had immediately bolted straight up and woken up instantly when he heard Akari mention such an event was happening, but his dreams were shattered when he found out she was lying.

"You wouldn't get up so I lied about your favorite manga happening in real life," Akari shrugged.

Well, I don't know if it's my favorite manga anymore. The ending was pretty controversial amongst the fans, even I don't know what to think of it myself.

Putting aside that thought for now, Takei got off the bus and glanced over the area that they would be staying in for the next few days.

There was a specific area for the log cabins, showers, and other facilities, while another area was designated for dinner and another area was designated for events.

They wouldn't exactly be living amongst the trees and animals, but they were no doubt in the forest.

"Alright everyone! Come over here and listen to the instructions!" One of the teachers yelled loud enough for everyone to hear.

As instructed, all of the students gravitated towards the teacher talking and had their ears peeled to hear about what's next to come.

"Alright, all of you students will be completely independent for the next couple days. You all will have to work together to survive by cooking, cleaning, and doing other various things. There will be events at the end of each day, with the last day being the campfire dance, so look forward to those. If you have any questions or need help, the teacher's cabin will be over in that area over there. That is all, good luck and have fun."

The teacher clapped his hands to dismiss everyone and promptly left the premises.

All of the students were shocked because of how much freedom they were given. None of them had thought that they were going to get this level of freedom and independence on a school trip.

While Takei was stunned due to the same reasons as everyone else, he felt a tug on his shirt.

"What's up?" He asked Akari.

"Come here, everyone's waiting!"

Akari dragged him to a small circle of people that were busy formulating a plan.

"Eiji and I will take care of gathering the wood for the fire," Ryuto said.

"Rikka, Arisa, and I will go get the ingredients for the food from the teachers," Helena stated.

"Then Takei and I will go prepare the meal when you all bring everything back," Akari finished off the list of tasks.

Takei felt at peace seeing his friend group operate at such an efficient and fast pace. "Alright, everyone go and drop off their belongings at their cabins and reconvene here after completing your respective tasks."

""Roger!""

Everyone split off into two groups that were separated by gender to drop their stuff off at the cabins.

For some reason, Ryuto and Eiji felt like racing each other to speedrun the wood gathering process, so they left Takei in the dust and full-sprinted ahead.

"What good friends..." Takei sighed.

As he was taking his time to walk to the cabin, he noticed that there was someone next to him doing the same thing.

"Hey Ike, how are things going for your group?"

"Okay, Hasebe is making me do a lot of work."

Ike was a bit stiff with his sentences, but Takei could tell that he was just a bit of an awkward speaker.

"How long have you two been dating?" Takei asked.

Ike stopped to think for a second. "Two years."

"Wow, that long? Akari and I have only been dating for a few months."

Thinking back on it, Takei realized that it hadn't been that long since he confessed and they got together.

He knew that they probably would've gotten together even earlier if he wasn't such a wuss, but there was no point of crying over spilled milk.

"You two are good people. Healthy relationship."

Once again, Ike's kindness was masked by his awkward way of speaking.

Since Takei had mastered the way of the loner, he was able to easily understand what Ike meant using his abnormally strong analyzation skills.

"Thanks, you and Hasebe seem like a good couple too. I'd love an invite to the wedding one day," Takei laughed.

"Okay, I'll send an invite. Same for you too, send us an invite to yours," Ike smiled back in response.

Takei was surprised to see Ike break into a smile due to his rough exterior, but it was a welcome surprise.

"Of course."
