In addition to the sweet treats from the cake shop that Eiji worked at, Akari helped provide the rest of the food with an enormous amount of entrees and side dishes.
All of the guests were overjoyed to be able to eat such delicious food that there was almost no more food left.
Everything that Akari had cooked was basically nonexistent by now.
"Shall we begin the final event of the night?"
Takei Tanaka, son of Flora and Yuuto Tanaka, would be the announcer who would narrate the last event of the Tanaka Extravaganza.
"In this last event, we will be holding a love confession competition! Many couples will be confessing to each other in hopes of receiving our secret grand prize!"
Takei made a show of pointing towards the hidden grand prize that was covered by a black cloth.
"The panel of judges will be the ones who judge the confessions from the couples. Please say hello to everyone."
The panel of judges all stood up and gave a light wave towards the audience before returning to their seats.
It seems that Aurora, Akari, and Eiji are the judges for this event. What an oddly-made trio.
"Now that we're all ready for the confession event. Who would like to go first?"
To make sure that each and every reaction was natural and not prepared beforehand, the only ones who knew of this event was Takei and the panel of judges.
Even Takei's parents didn't have a single inkling as to what was happening.
"We'll go first!" Mahiro raised his hand.
So, my soon-to-be brother-in-law raised his hand first... You got this!
Mahiro walked up to the stage dragging a reluctant Airi along.
"M-Mahiro... Please... It's too embarrassing!" Airi begged for him to step.
Mahiro shook his head and sweetly smiled at Airi. "I have to prove my love for you is the real deal. I need everyone here to know!"
"They don't need to know!" Airi retorted.
Now that both of them were on the stage, there was no longer an escape route for Airi.
Mahiro stood up completely straight and bowed towards Airi. "I'm ready."
The crowd began to quiet down as Mahiro started his confession of love.
"When I first met you, I didn't have much of an impression of you. To me, you just seemed like a normal girl that anyone could find anywhere. However, I was naive..."
Mahiro took a deep breath then continued.
"...I didn't see you for who you truly were. After having spent so many days and nights together, I can safely say that you are the most important person to me. Airi Tanaka, will you please be my girlfriend?"
Ah, he actually did it. He didn't wussy out!
Airi lowered her head for a moment, but she quickly lifted it in order to respond to Mahiro's confession. "Yes, gladly!"
""Woooooo!"" The crowd cheered in unison.
Takei swiftly glanced at the judges in the middle of the commotion. "A score of eight, seven, and nine from the judges. In total, that confession was worth 24 points!"
Since the highest was 30 points, 24 points was nothing to scoff at.
"I'll go next," Arisa raised her hand.
"Who will you be confessing to?" Takei asked.
A shadow covered Arisa's face as she answered. "An unrequited love that will never happen."
Ouch, sounds serious.
Arisa got on the stage and prepared her one-woman show.
"This confession is to the boy that I love. Even if he'll never reciprocate my feelings, I still want to get it off my chest," she valiantly stated.
As the crowd quieted down, Arisa poured her heart out for everyone to see.
"I've loved you for so long. I've loved you for longer than she has. Then why?! It doesn't matter anymore... You only have her in your heart now. There's no room for me in there anymore. I was happy to fall in love with such a kind person, but it really hurts to see you happily hold hands with someone else. I'll squash my feelings for you here and now. Thank you for letting me fall in love with you, and goodbye."
As soon as Arisa had finished, the crowd began violently sobbing as if a dam had been broken and all the water was let out.
I hope she finds peace and happiness. Although I do wonder, who was that boy she fell in love with?
"A total of 26 points! We have a new winner so far!" Takei yelled for everyone to hear.
After Arisa's powerful confession and goodbye, many other contestants took the stage and confessed as well.
Before anyone knew it, the night was almost over and there was yet but one couple left to go.
Yuuto and Flora Tanaka took the stage and Yuuto began his confession.
"Flora Tanaka, you have always been the light in my life. Ever since we met in high school, I've had eyes for no one but you. Even through that initial cold demeanor you had, I was able to find the warmth of your soul. I couldn't even count on my fingers the many times that warmth has saved me."
Yuuto was pouring an endless amount of love and passion into this confession, which made Takei unexpectedly really happy.
"You've saved me so many times, and I feel so grateful. I don't know where I would be in this world if it weren't for you. That's why I want you only to myself. I want you to keep every side of you hidden to everyone else but me. Flora Tanaka, will you please continue to stand by my side?"
After Yuuto ended off his confession with a powerful conclusion, there was only but one response that Flora could say in this situation.
"Yes, I'm yours and only yours! Now and forever!" Flora jumped into his arms.
The crowd erupted into a loud applause as the two lovers embraced each other.
Takei looked at the judges once again and confirmed the unsurprising results. "A perfect score of 10 all across the board! Thirty points in total, which means that this couple is the winner! Congratulations!"
Since Yuuto and Flora were too busy flirting with each other, they hadn't even noticed they won the competition.
Takei had to walk up to them with the grand prize in hand for them to notice. "You two won two free tickets to a resort in Hawaii. Please use it well."
Yuuto grabbed the tickets and started to cry happy tears. "Let's go give Takei and Airi another sibling!"
"Fufufu, let's get started in Hawaii!" Flora excitedly responded.
It was this exact moment that Takei found out he was getting another sibling.
