Qin YunShan laughed: “Sometimes intuition can be accurate too. That colleague of yours does not sound simple at all. If you think he is lying to you, you should distance yourself from him, or you might get tricked by him.”

Jiang Yu nodded his head. He noticed that the sky was getting darker as if it was going to rain soon, he said: “Grand… Mr Elder Qin, it looks like it’s going to rain soon, you should hurry and get inside.”

Qin YunShan looked up at the sky as he held a hand on his lower back while getting up from the long bench. Suddenly he let out a painful groan that made Jiang Yu quickly support him: “What’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing. I sprained my back when I went mountain climbing a few days ago.” Qin YunShan waved his hand as he walked into the building with Jiang Yu’s support. He sighed: “I hope i am not bothering you too much”

Jiang Yu smiled: “Not at all, Mr Elder Qin.”

“It’s so rare to meet such a warm-hearted child like you nowadays.” As they reached the building’s entrance, a few nurses and attendants approached them, which Qin YunShan shrugged his hand at them, motioning them to follow behind him instead. He told Jiang Yu: “Stop calling me Mr Elder Qin, that’s too formal. Just call me Grandpa like how you did from the start.”

Jiang Yu replied with his smiling eyes: “Grandpa Qin.”

“Ay.” Qin Yunshan happily answered while he sighed internally. What an obedient child, why is this kid not his grandchild instead, he thought. The elderly man had two grandchildren, but one controlled too much and the other would make him angry at the slightest mention of him, making him rather not have them at all.

As Jiang Yu returned to the filming crew, he initially planned not to have any interaction with Qiao Mo anymore. However, on the same night, Yan Shu gave him a call: “You went to visit Qiao Mo at the hospital?”

Jiang Yu was shocked to hear that – he had not told Yan Shu that he went to visit Qiao Mo, how did she know?

“Go take a look at your Weibo.” Yan Shu simply replied as she hung up the call.

Jiang Yu’s Weibo account was registered when he just started his recordings for this drama. He had less than fifty thousand fans and more than half of these were fake accounts bought by Xiao-Fang to make his account look better. The other lesser half were his real fans that got attracted by the crew’s official drama photo release of himself.

{note: Xiao-Fang = JY’s assistant}

He did not know how to make a Weibo post and it had always been Xiao-Fang who was managing the account. The latest post was made on the first day of outdoor shooting, where Xiao-Fang took a photo of him taking a nap in the car. There were only a few hundred comments back then. But when he looked at the comments section again, it was now reaching ten thousand comments.

Jiang Yu clicked on the comments section and most of the newer comments were thanking him for taking care of their Gege.

{note: Gege = nickname for someone older than them, similar to how Korean ladies’ call an older guy Oppa.}

…… Who’s their Gege? While Jiang Yu remained bewildered, Xiao-Fang ran in from outside and held his phone up to show him: “Yu-er, Qiao Mo posted a photo of the fish soup and mentioned that you went to the hospital to visit him and even tagged you.”

It was then Jiang Yu realised that these newer comments were all made by Qiao Mo’s fans.

Xiao-Fang asked puzzledly: “What is Qiao Mo trying to do?”

Jiang Yu was not the only person who went to visit him, yet Qiao Mo only highlighted and tagged him. They both belonged to two different companies, they were arch-enemies, plus they had Yan Shu between them – Qiao Mo had no reason to do so.

Xiao-Fang could not understand, much less for Jiang Yu. Yan Shu’s call came in again: “Have you seen it?”

Jiang Yu replied: “Yes. Yan-jie, is this a good thing?” He asked restlessly.

{note: Jie = term to address an older female}

Yan Shu remained silent for a moment before she answered: “It’s not.”

It was exceedingly difficult for newbies to stand out in the entertainment industry. By right, it was a good thing for popular actors like Qiao Mo spontaneously giving him a highlight. However, Jiang Yu was not a normal newbie. He had her as his agent, Lin Cheng being his cousin, on top of that, he had outstanding looks and talented acting skills. Even without any exposure in the beginning, the moment this drama got broadcast, he would become popular.

With Qiao Mo’s current move, others may say that he was helping his previous agent by highlighting his junior due to their past relationship. When Jiang Yu becomes popular in the future, Qiao Mo’s fans would automatically credit part of Jiang Yu’s success to Qiao Mo. The moment when both compete for any exposure, or if Qiao Mo purposely tried to pick on Jiang Yu, he only need to instigate behind the scene and there would be an army of his fans and netizens coming out to attack Jiang Yu.

“Yan-jie, am I not supposed to visit him?” Jiang Yu asked annoyedly.

“There are other crew members who went to visit him. Even if you did not visit him, there will be others who comment that you are not respecting him as a senior.” Yan Shu comforted, :”Although it’s not a good thing in the future but for the present situation, there’s no harm doing that.”

Since Qiao Mo had tagged him, they had no choice but to interact back. Yan Shu instructed Xiao-Fang to post a reply on Weibo which Qiao Mo promptly replied with a smiley emoji: “So when can I have homemade fish soup again?”

With that response, Yan Shu told Jiang Yu to visit him with another bowl of fish soup again. It was raining and the crew could not do any outdoor shooting and gave everyone a day off. Jiang Yu and Xiao Fang then headed towards the hospital.

As they were driving on the road, Jiang Yu was dozing off at the back seat as he watched rainfall. Suddenly, he noticed the car coming to a gradual stop. he rubbed his eyes and asked: “What happened?”

“No idea. Seems like there’s something wrong with the car.” Xiao-Fang gradually parked the car at the side of the road to restart the engines but to no avail.

Jiang Yu propped himself forward: “You know how to fix a car?”

“I’ll go have a look.” Xiao-Fang replied as he took an umbrella out and went to check the car from outside.

He could not see anything visibly wrong as he opened the car’s bonnet. Jiang Yu stayed in the car for a while before he took the other umbrella and went out. He bent forward and asked Xiao-Fang who was tinkering with the car parts: “Did you see what went wrong?”

Although the rain was not heavy, it was windy, blowing all the raindrops against them. Xiao-Fang wiped the droplets off his face as he held the umbrella with his other hand: “Nope. I have called the tow truck over. Let’s call a cab and head to the hospital. You get into the car first and don’t catch a cold from the rain.”

Luckily, they have reached the city area so the tow truck should reach quickly.

Jiang Yu held the umbrella up as he walked back to the door. Out of the sudden, a strong wind blew past and Jiang Yu momentarily lost hold of the umbrella as it landed at the back of the road. A car that was driving past came to a gradual stop.

Noticing that there were no other cars passing by, Jiang Yu quickly braved the rain and went to pick up the umbrella. Just as he was picking it up and leaving, the window of the car rolled down and a familiar deep voice came from inside: “Jiang Yu?”

Jiang Yu held his umbrella up as he looked into the car. It was Qin Shen. He did not have a driver today and was driving on his own.

Qin Shen took a glance at the car that was stopped at the side and understood immediately. He asked: “The car broke down?”

Jiang Yu nodded.

Xiao-Fang saw Jiang Yu picking up the umbrella but not coming back and standing by someone’s car. He hurriedly ran over and asked: “What happened?”

""

It was then he saw Qin Shen sitting in his car. He blanked for a moment – Isn’t that Chairman Qin? What is he doing here?

Qin Shen continued asking: “Have you called the tow truck yet?”

Xiao-Fang nodded his head slowly: “Yes I did, they are coming over soon.”

Qin Shen did not ask further but Jiang Yu suddenly popped another question: “Can you give me a ride?”

Qin Shen looked at the younger man as Jiang Yu swallowed his saliva. He nervously tightened his grip on the umbrella as he continued saying: “You’re going to the hospital, right? I’m heading there too. Can you bring me along?”

Xiao-Fang looked in disbelief at Jiang Yu. Didn’t we agree on taking a cab to the hospital together? Why the sudden suggestion to take Chairman Qin’s car? He thought.

“Get on.” Qin Shen’s gaze landed on the pale lips that were moist from the rain. With that, he rolled up the window.

“You’ll wait for the tow truck.” Jiang Yu told Xiao-Fang as he handed over the umbrella and hopped onto the back seat of the car.

Xiao-Fang recovered from his daze as he saw the car driving past him. Hey, why didn’t they invite me as well? I want to sit on a luxury car for once too!

In the confined space of the car, only the breaths of the two people could be heard. Jiang Yu looked at Qin Shen who was focusing his attention on driving. He giddily leaned back on the back seat and placed his palm over his tummy. He happily thought, I am so lucky to meet him again. This time it will last for a few more days.

Qin Shen looked up at the rear-view mirror and saw the kid putting a hand over his tummy with his head down, seemingly thinking of something. A few moments later, Qin Shen looked up again and the kid’s hand was still over his tummy. He held his hand up to look at the watch on his wrist, it would be another hour before they reached the hospital.

“There’s a box of chocolate at the side.” Qin Shen spoke out of the sudden as Jiang Yu was lost in his thoughts.

“Huh?” He looked up with a blank face.

“Aren’t you hungry? There is a box of chocolate at the side.” Qin Shen replied.

Jiang Yu turned to the seat beside him and saw an exquisite-looking bag with two boxes of delicately packed chocolate inside it.

Initially, Jiang Yu wanted to reply that he was not hungry, but he was attracted by the beautiful packaging. He could not resist as he took a piece of the chocolate, removed its wrapping, and popped it into his mouth. The strong and exquisite taste melted on his taste buds as his eyes brightened up. He could not hold back putting another piece into his mouth.

Qin Shen was focused on his driving when his phone suddenly rang. He picked up and it was Fang Miao.

“Brother, where are you?” Fang Miao asked from the other end.

Qin Shen replied: “On my way to the hospital.”

Fang Miao: “Oh, then can you still make it back today? I left the chocolate I got Mum to buy for me in your car.”

Qin Shen paused for a moment before he continued: “Chocolate?”

Fang Miao: “Yeah. Mum went to Italy and I specifically asked her to buy it for me. It is really hard to buy it in Italy much less locally. Remember to bring it over for me when you’re on your way back.”

Qin Shen took another glance at the rear-view mirror and he saw that the kid was almost finishing the entire box of chocolate. He coughed awkwardly: “It’s finished.”
