Sun Jiyan wanted to go into the kitchen to get some hot water. When he saw Doctor Sun’s expression, he said helplessly, “Master, I think that as long as Zhao Zhan is at home, you can stay in the kitchen.”
“Why wouldn’t I? If you had Zhao Zhan’s cooking skills, I’d be willing to stick with you. Don’t be fooled by his serious look, Zhao Zhan. He better not be fighting with me for the meal later.” Doctor Sun had a look that was clearly seen through Sun Jiyan. “You were like a bookworm in Hekou County before, but look at you now. You look much more human.”

Sun Jiyan shook his head and decided not to argue with him. After all, he had lost in this battle.
“By the way, Zhao Zhan, I heard that your wife was injured. A few days ago, I picked some medicinal herbs in the back mountain to make some medicines. One of them just happens to be a bottle of scar removal medicine. I’ll give it to you after dinner. A young lady like her might not be able to stand having scars on her body.”
“You’re such a dilly-dally. Isn’t it just a bottle of scar-removing ointment? Do you think I can’t make that? If you want to give it to her, then give it, why are you talking so much?”
As Doctor Sun spoke, he quickly glanced at Zhao Zhan, then turned his head and glared at Sun Jiyan. “Put that bottle of ointment by my bedside first. I’ll need to check if it’s done right before giving it to her.”
How could Sun Jiyan not know what his master meant?
The old man had seen through his intentions and was worried that he would fall deeper and make people feel more uncomfortable. He wanted to make jokes and let the matter pass before he could hide it.
“Yes, master. I’ll go and bring it to you.”
Sun Jiyan replied respectfully, then walked out of the kitchen with the hot water. Zhao Zhan took a deep look at his back and then looked away.
.“That kid… Listen, Zhao Zhan-”
“Doctor Sun, the food is ready,” Zhao Zhan said as he lifted the lid of the pot.
It was steaming hot, and a strong spicy and sour taste wafted his nostrils. Doctor Sun instantly forgot what he wanted to say and couldn’t help but drool. His eyes were glued to the aroma coming out of the pot.
“Doctor Sun, do you want to go to the dining room first? I’ll bring the food over now.”
“In that case, I’ll go and call people to eat.”
Although Master Sun was very old, his legs were really nimble. Before he could finish his sentence, he had already left the kitchen.
Zhao Zhan couldn’t help but laugh at his lively appearance. He put all the food on a large tray and carried it to the dining room with both arms.
After the dishes were placed, Zhao Zhan washed his hands and went to the bedroom. He looked at the petite woman curled up on the bed and his voice subconsciously became gentle. “Do you want to eat in the room or go to the dining room and join everyone there?”
“Let’s go to the dining room. I feel like my limbs are going to degenerate if I lay on the bed for too long.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhao Zhan had already stepped to the bedside to help her pack everything. He even reached out his hands, wanting to carry her away.
.“Zhao Zhan ” Yue Jiaojiao hurriedly shouted for him to stop, “My legs are fine, don’t worry.”
Zhao Zhan regretfully took a step back when she spoke. Then, he went to the box and got her clothes. He put them on for her without any hesitation and then led her to the dining room.
“You guys are all here? Let’s start eating!”
Doctor Sun couldn’t wait any longer. When everyone was present, he quickly picked up a piece of pickled vegetable and put it in his mouth. He didn’t want to waste it even if it scalded his tongue.
