Jacob had been waiting for Emily to wake up for three consecutive days. The doctor had put Emily on an IV to supply the basic nutrients for her body. However, Jacob persevered without any aid. He just sat at her bedside and waited.

Louis wanted to discuss their next move with him. But he didn't know how to do so after seeing Jacob in such a miserable state. They had almost lost Emily. He believed that the shock and the worry that Jacob faced were no less than his.

"You need to get some rest. At the least, you need to have something to eat to keep your strength up." As Louis set a plate of food on the table, he looked at Emily. She was still unconscious, lying on the bed. "Emily won't want to see you like this when she wakes up."

It had only been three days, but Jacob seemed to have aged considerably. His hair was long and unkempt, while his chin was now covered in a stubbly beard. Though his sharp eyes were still keen as they watched Emily, his angular face was pinched and drawn with worry.

Louis tried to persuade Jacob to take better care of himself. However, Jacob's continued silence proved that he had failed. Louis sighed, turned around and walked towards the door.

"Thank you,"

Jacob suddenly said in a husky voice. However, his eyes still remained fixed on Emily's face.

Louis heard the words Jacob had said to him, but he was stunned and thought about what Jacob had meant.

He wondered if Jacob was expressing appreciation to him for staying with Emily or for saving his child.

Jacob was a smart man with eyes everywhere. Louis didn't believe that Jacob didn't know that he had donated blood to the baby.

Louis turned his head and gave him a piercing look. After a short moment of hesitation, he explained softly, "I am the baby's uncle. You don't need to thank me for anything. Don't worry."

Jacob still didn't raise his head. He replied in a monotonous tone, "I am not. You are overthinking it."

Louis had been adopted by Hunk. Although Jacob didn't trust him, he trusted Emily. He knew very well that Emily wouldn't cheat on him–and certainly not with her adopted brother! As far as Louis's blood matching with the baby's, Jacob took it as a coincidence. As long as two people had the same blood type, their blood would match. Jacob was not really concerned about it.

When Emily finally awoke, it was the middle of the night. The second she opened her eyes, she was shocked to see a pair of large, dark eyes. However, as she recognized the familiar face, she burst into tears.

Emily didn't know how long she had been unconscious. She also had no idea what had happened since she had blacked out. All she knew was that she had been in pain, and he had not been there for her when she had needed him. She didn't want anything from him now. She just wanted to cry all her sorrow out.

"Don't cry. It's okay." Jacob's heart ached. He took her hand and gently patted the back of her palm. He was afraid to touch her since she was in a fragile condition following the Cesarean section that had saved her life and the baby's.

"Whe

er was from the bottom of her heart. Finding an excuse, she ran out the room. Jacob's eyes really frightened her.

Emily was in great shock as she stared at the baby in her arms. She was struck dumb for a minute.

Regardless of the baby's looks, his bright blue eyes obviously hadn't come from Emily nor Jacob.

Jacob moved his eyes from his baby's face to Emily's. Before he could say anything, Emily jumped the gun and quickly explained, "The two children at home are yours. This one, if the nurse wasn't mistaken, is yours too. My genes don't have a problem, and I didn't cheat on you. My family members and I don't have foreign blood in our veins."

She rushed everything out in one breath. Then, she stared back at Jacob. "I am done. What else do you want to ask?"

Jacob laughed. "How could you be so cute? I haven't even said anything yet!"

"I was afraid you would mistakenly believe that I had cheated on you!" Emily put her arm around Jacob's neck and pulled him closer. She said earnestly, "Honey, please don't worry. If it's not your baby, I will not keep it!"

Jacob suddenly didn't know what to say. He truly believed that the baby was theirs. He had never doubted Emily. However, hearing Emily saying these things, he was not so happy. He didn't like the fact that she thought he would doubt her. He pulled a long face and said, "If you don't want the baby, you leave me no choice but to divorce you. You can keep all the money. I just want my baby. Give me my son back!" Upon saying that, he took the baby from her cradling arms. However, he still had a puzzled look on his face as he looked down at the baby boy.

"Do you really have no idea what's going on?" Emily asked.

Jacob shook his head. "I really don't know why the baby's eyes are blue either."

Emily pouted. She rolled her eyes at him, feeling frustrated. No matter what, the good thing was that her baby was okay, and she was still alive.

"Hey, to be honest, the baby's mien does look like yours."

"Honey, can we stop there? Let's not make matters worse."
