Taylor simply couldn't control herself anymore and finally exploded. While Taylor was frantic, Louis was rather calm. He merely regarded her with his cold blue eyes.

A minute later, after she had calmed down somewhat, Taylor drew in a deep raggedy breath. Fixing her eyes on Louis's face, she said in an unearthly calm tone, "Mr. Ke, I don't think it's necessary for us to meet again in the future. Thank you for everything you have done for me in the past. I think I have now more than repaid your favor tonight."

After she had spoken, Taylor turned around and quickly walked off. The dark night was quite windy, and Taylor clutched at the long red dress to keep it under control as she disappeared into the lonely city. All the while, Louis's eyes followed her until she was gone from sight.

About an hour and a half later, Taylor finally got home. Clocking her wrist, she noticed that it was already half past ten.

As soon as she stepped into the living room, she saw her daughter, Amy, asleep on the sofa. At the sight of her small shape curled up among the cushions, Taylor's heart swelled with a warm glow.

She looked at her daughter with a soft light in her eyes.

Taylor gently dropped her bag on the nearby chair, came to the sofa, and pulled her child lovingly into her arms.

The moment she wrapped her arms around Amy, the little girl woke up. She rubbed her eyes sleepily and asked, "Mom, you're back?"

Taylor smiled with true joy upon hearing her daughter's high-pitched voice chirping at her. "Yes. I'm back, darling," she replied fondly.

"Mom, you are home so late tonight," Amy softly whined at her mom.

"I'm sorry. I won't be back so late again. Where is Becky?"

Taylor asked as she felt a wave of guilt flood her heart. Over the past few years, Amy had been living with her, and she had always been a sensible and thoughtful girl. Sometimes, if Taylor was going to be late to get home, she would ask her pay-by-the-hour maid to stay longer and wait with Amy for her.

But today, when she arrived home, she didn't see Becky around.

"Becky said she had to go home at her normal time. So I decided to wait for you in the living room with the light on. I was worried that you would be afraid when it grew dark," Amy told Taylor in a voice like a little wife.

Upon hearing Amy's caring words, Taylor's eyes filled with a tender loving light. She picked Amy up and carried her to the bedroom, where she tucked her in "as snug as a bug in a rug" and left.

When she was about to leave, Amy suddenly spoke up. "Mom, I saw Grandpa today."

Taylor was stunned by this news. Then she asked gently, "Did Grandma and Grandpa come to the school to visit you? Then why didn't you ask them to come here?"

"But these people were not the grandparents I have met before. The two people who came to the school to v

"Emily, I know what you are worried about. But this is a really important matter, I..." Taylor said.

"Just take it easy, Taylor. I believe that I will be fine. Even if anything bad should happen to me in the end, I won't blame you,"

Emily said confidently. She really needed and wanted Taylor to help her hide her declining mental state from Jacob for as long as possible.

After a long pause, Taylor seemed to be considering everything, but then a thought occurred to her, and she nodded slowly. "Okay, I'll help you with this, but you have to promise me that you'll try your level best to control yourself and not overthink everything."

Seeing that Taylor had promised to keep her condition a secret, Emily sighed with a happy smile settling on her face, as she said, "Okay, I will listen to you and try my very best to control my emotions."

Looking at Emily's suddenly excited face, Taylor wanted to say something but hesitated. Finally, she shook her head and said, "Then I'll go home now. Get some good rest."

While walking to the door, Taylor seemed to remember something and, taking out her cell phone, she checked the date.

A month had passed since she had first given Emily the pills. Taylor figured that Emily should have taken all of the pills by now.

Suddenly, Taylor turned back to Emily and asked, "Have you been taking all of the medicine I prescribed for you?"

Emily thought for a moment and responded, "There should be a few pills left. What's wrong? Are you going to change it for another kind of medicine again?"

Taylor shook her head immediately and began making excuses. "No. I just wanted to check if you have been taking the medicine on time. Otherwise, it will have no effect on you."

"Okay, I will take them on time. Don't worry!" Emily assured her.

After stepping out of the villa, Taylor clenched the medicine bottle tightly in her pocket.
