Hearing what Louis said, the staff in the conference room, though unhappy, said, "We will try our best to do that."

When all the designers had returned to their offices, they were all grumbling that they would have to work overtime to perfect their own design drafts in time for the early submission. Only Estelle sat quietly in the corner after the others had left, wearing a strange and guarded expression, because she felt that there was something wrong.

Especially after the meeting had concluded, she had noticed that Louis had cast her a lingering glance, which had filled her with a sense of foreboding.

Maybe she was overthinking…

But it would be better if they could submit the design drafts ahead of time, so that she wouldn't have to fret about them every day.

That night when Estelle returned home, she caught sight of a slender figure at the entrance of the alley next to her apartment building.

As she walked closer to see who was hiding in the shadows, she suddenly took half a step back.

She was both nervous and fearful when she recognized the man who suddenly stepped into the light to face her.

"Mr. Ethan, why are you here?"

Seeing the nervous expression on her face, Ethan narrowed his eyes slightly and felt displeased with the unwelcoming look she gave him. "What's wrong? Don't you want me to be here?"

"No, no, but it's not appropriate for us to meet in public like this. After all, it will cause trouble to you if our relationship becomes known."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Ethan slowly approached with a smile darkly flashing on his face, and he looked down with domineering eyes at the woman in front of him.

"You haven't changed at all, and you're still the same as before. You still don't dare to look at others when you tell a lie."

Estelle was stunned by his words and looked at Ethan in a daze.

"The same as before? Mr. Ethan, what do you mean? Did we know each other before all this?"

However, Ethan shook his head and answered, "No, we didn't know each other."

His reply was too quick, and although it was resolute, Estelle's heart skipped a beat. "That's impossible," Estelle refuted.

Since a long time ago, Estelle had always felt strange when around Ethan. She had always had a lingering feeling that she had had dealings with Ethan before, and she felt that she seemed to have known him before.

However, after careful consideration, she didn't believe that she had known him befo

n the living room, where a traditional Chinese opera was being played.

When the butler led Ethan through to the living room, Bill opened his dim eyes and looked at him through heavy eyelids.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to apologize to you."

When Ethan stepped closer, Bill reached out his hand to pick up a cup of tea on the table. At the sight of this, Ethan immediately drew near and carefully handed the teacup to Bill's expectant hand.

"Why do you say that? Did you do something wrong?"

Bill sipped his tea to clear his parched throat, and his hawk-like eyes were domineering as he stared at Ethan.

"A woman came over this morning. Do you know her situation?"

Ethan got straight to the point. Upon hearing the question, Bill's hand froze in mid-air with the teacup still pinched between two fingers. After his hand hovered there for a second, he suddenly set the cup down with a loud thud and said, "I threw that woman to feed the snakes. My guess is that by now, we won't even find her bones there."

Ethan didn't say anything further and just waited for Bill to continue, wanting to hear what he would say.

"As a matter of fact, it's not a big deal. I don't think there is any reason for you to make an apology since we are good friends, after all."

A trace of mockery fluttered across Ethan's eyes. 'Good friends?' Ethan wondered bitterly.

"Bill, that woman was right. I did cover up for someone."

"Uh huh," Bill responded casually.

"I knew that before she came here, but it hasn't brought about any substantial or adverse results in the scheme of things. So don't mention it again."
