After remaining locked in his own room for a whole day and a night, Carlos had neither come out nor eaten anything. It was only after this that Chuck and Leah realized that there was something wrong with their son.
Leah called out to Carlos from outside his room for a long time, but there was no reply from inside at all.
"My son, if you are inside, could you please answer me?" Leah demanded at the barred door, feeling overcome with worry.
She remembered that Carlos had just spent one night with Cherish before he had gone upstairs. What could possibly have caused him to lock himself inside the room for such a long time without coming out to eat anything?
Had something terrible happened between them?
At the thought of this, Leah immediately phoned Cherish up. If something had really gone wrong between them, then they were the only two who could solve it in the end.
But after Cherish answered the call, she was equally shocked to hear of Carlos's situation. As she wondered about the reason why Carlos was in such a bad mood, she immediately comforted Leah, saying, "Don't worry. I'll be right there. He'll be fine."
After hanging up the phone, Leah called out to Carlos again, but she still heard no sound from inside the room, which filled her with anxious dread.
The door of the room was locked. Within the last few minutes, Leah had gone upstairs and called Carlos several times, but he hadn't responded at all. Initially, she had just thought that Carlos might be in a bad mood. But now, it occurred to her that there couldn't be such a complete silence in the room, no matter how unhappy he was.
After considering the possibility that her son might have done something foolish, Leah resolutely decided to ask the security guard to come and break open the door.
After being given instructions to call for help by Leah, the nanny turned around and was about to go summon the security guard. But then, a sound was heard from beyond the locked door. Suddenly, Carlos opened the door and stepped out.
"Mother? What's up?"
Carlos asked with an expressionless face. Obviously, Leah could see that her son was in a foul mood. After looking at her son carefully, she asked, "Are you drunk, my son?"
"Just a little, but I'm fine," replied Carlos.
Leah looked her son up and down with a confused expression. After making sure that her son was fine, except that he looked pale and reeked of alcohol, she felt a little relieved.

In his opinion, it would be inappropriate for him to reject the engagement in such a rash and impolite manner. Cherish had helped him once, and so he wanted to show his gratitude by respecting her.
Perhaps it would be a better solution if he could talk to her about this matter and ask her to voluntarily call off the engagement, thereby saving her family from shame.
Downstairs, Cherish rushed into the villa, her face full of concern. Today, she didn't resemble the graceful lady of the Shen Family at all. Her worry and concern for Carlos could be seen quite plainly, and one of her family's retainers followed closely behind her, ready to support her arm if necessary.
