Due to the excellent treatment by the Li family's private doctor, and Carlos's tender care, Nora had recovered by that afternoon.

Cherish resolutely stood guard outside the door. When her legs began to cramp from standing for so long, she suddenly heard Carlos's voice.

"Is there anyone out there? I need some help," he said.

His voice was tinged with some nervousness, which made Cherish admire Nora even more. From the sound of Carlos's voice, he truly cared about this girl's health.

Cherish looked around but didn't see any servants.

Clearly, Leah didn't like this girl at all, and not only had she not wanted her to set foot inside her house, but she also refused to let the servants help her. Therefore, even though she had reluctantly let Nora into her house, she remained obstinate about her care and all the servants were kept occupied elsewhere.

Cherish didn't know what on earth this girl had done to make Leah, who was normally a very nice woman, hate her so much. She realized that Carlos might need her now.

So when she heard Carlos's request, she entered the room and asked, "Mr. Li, what can I do for you?"

Carlos didn't notice the change in Cherish's tone, nor the formally polite address that she had reverted to. He was, however, a little embarrassed when he saw Cherish. Considering that Nora's health was his prime responsibility, he still said, "Miss Shen, please help me find another electric thermometer. This one that we've been using isn't working any longer. I guess that its battery is flat."

Cherish tried her best to hide her sorrow. She cast a glance at Nora, who was still lying on the bed, and nodded quickly. Then she left the room to find a new thermometer for Carlos.

Carlos thanked Cherish upon her return and took the thermometer from her hand. Then he helped Nora up and gently put it under her arm. His movements were so careful as if he was afraid of breaking something precious.

"Take it easy. Don't worry. I've put the thermometer under your arm. It will indicate when it has finished taking a reading by beeping,"

Carlos said gently. Then, he was going to lay her back down on the bed, but Nora gripped his

Nora was speaking the truth, and the symptoms of his poisoning were very serious.

Nora sighed. "Well, it's a long story. But it's all my fault. If it wasn't for me, he wouldn't have ended up like this. When I was in F Country, I was being controlled by a vicious criminal there. He threatened me to help him clear his crimes here after I returned. In fact, the criminal had been wronged by a police officer, whose name was Perrin. It was because they both fell in love with a woman named Dina. I didn't want to do anything to help him, but he poisoned Carlos and used him as a way to control me. Now I have to try my best to find the people who framed him to prove his innocence. Only in this way can I save Carlos."

While speaking, Nora's face had crumpled in a picture of abject misery and helplessness. She had begun trembling because of her weakness. Then Cherish, who was deeply shocked by Nora's words, steadied her.

After a while, Cherish snapped back to reality. Still somewhat stunned, she asked, "Wait! What did you say? What's the name of the person who framed the criminal?"

Due to her confusion at this disturbing news, Cherish didn't notice that Nora's hand was reaching for her pocket. Nora said mildly, "His name is Perrin. Is there something you know about this? Do you know him?"

'It's Perrin! Oh, my God! Of course, I know him. And there's got to be a lot more to it than that. After all, he is my brother!' she fretted.
