Ever since Cherish had told the police that the two men had abducted her upon someone's instruction, the police had been trying to figure out who it was.

The whole thing was Nora's idea. However, the men had committed other crimes in the past without any connection to her. The previous cases had also been felonies. The gravity of those was enough to earn them the death penalty.

Although they had committed so many crimes, they had been able to evade the police every time. They had been smart enough, and it seemed that the police had been very slow in each case. They had thought that they would always be as lucky, so they had grown bolder and more reckless as time went by. After all, if they had done one thing once or twice, they would be able to do it several more times.

They hadn't expected the police to succeed this time. The authorities had caught them in the act and they had been totally off guard.

Neither of the men was a fool. So, even without a discussion, both men had decided not to reveal whose orders they had been following. They could use that to their advantage later on. For now, they were resolute on keeping quiet.

The police's failure in getting a confession worried Carlos. He knew that as long as the mastermind behind the kidnapping was at large, Cherish remained in danger.

Her enemies were hiding in the dark, and she was out here in the open, totally exposed. As long as the real threats were still out there, she could never be at ease.

Knowing this, Carlos decided that he would interrogate the men himself.

Upon seeing them, he felt the overwhelming urge to attack. He wanted to beat them to a pulp. Finally, logic took over. He did his best to calm down when he remembered why he had come into the room.

According to police protocol, suspects should be interrogated separately. This time, Carlos asked for them to be interrogated at the same time.

Sitting across from him now, the two looked indifferent. However, Carlos had noticed how tightly they had held their clothes as they sat down.

He was pumped. He was confident that he would get what he wanted this time. Every person had desires and expectations in life. As long as one was not completely desperate, he

king, he turned around, ready to leave. Deep inside, he was still waiting for the two to talk, but he could no longer stay there.

The two men looked anxiously at him as he began walking toward the door. They looked at each other and nodded. "Wait!" they called out together.

The corners of Carlos's mouth curled up in a smile. He turned around. He had guessed right. "What? Have you changed your minds?"

The two men, unwilling to admit defeat, were quiet for a moment. Then one of them replied awkwardly, "A life sentence just means no freedom and no women, but it's still better than death. We accept your offer!"

If they hadn't been caught, they would have been dealing with that bitch Nora by now. She had promised to hide the evidence for them, but before they had finished their task, they had been apprehended by the police. Surely, she had no more interest in looking out for them anymore since they had already been caught.

She deserved to be caught by the police as well. There was no point in protecting her now.

Besides, Carlos's words had made sense. Even if they didn't tell him the truth, he would discover it himself. It was only a matter of time. A piece of unimportant information in exchange for their lives sounded like a good deal.

Satisfied with their answer, Carlos sat back down. He asked, "Tell me. Whose orders were you following?"

"Remember what you said. Don't let us die!" One of the men, trembling in fear, asked for Carlos's assurance.
