Darren looked ahead, unsure of how he felt. As more and more people gathered, he said coldly, "Let's go."

Upon hearing this, the driver turned the car around and drove off.

As Carlos looked at Nora, who lay on the ground in front of him, an intense wave of emotion came over him. The anger that he had felt disappeared in an instant. Without delay, he ran to her side and saw that she was lying in a pool of her own blood. The red pool under her head was slowly but steadily growing. Seeing this, Carlos knelt weakly beside her. With both hands trembling, he held up her head and cradled it in his arms. He couldn't stop shaking.

"Nora...

Can you hear me? Please don't scare me like this."

Although she had wronged and angered him, he didn't want to see her like this.

Passers-by gathered around them. Some took out their phones to call an ambulance, and some began to study and discuss Nora's injuries.

"That's a lot of blood! I don't think she's going to make it. What a horrible man, that driver! He just drove off after running someone over!"

"Alas! What a pity! So young, but she might not survive."

These words only made Carlos's blood boil. He turned to face them and yelled, "What the fuck are you talking about! Shut up!"

He was about to go off on them when he felt something sticky touch his wrist. He turned back to Nora in an instant and looked at her attentively.

She struggled to open her eyes. When she finally did, she saw his frightened and worried face. She was relieved.

'It seems that I still hold a place in his heart, ' she thought. No matter how small that place might have been, it didn't matter. She was satisfied.

"Carlos, are you still mad at me?" Nora managed to ask with all her strength.

Carlos was annoyed. Even at this moment, she was still concerned about unimportant things. He frowned, held back his tears, and said as cheerfully as he could, "Don't say that now, Nora. Hold on. I'm taking you to the hospital now

nd her heart. Yet, why had she been willing to break down these walls for him?

There was no way to know the answer to this now. The only thing he knew was that Nora was no longer in this world. From this day onward, the best moments of his youth were gone. Now, they were only memories.

He held Nora tightly and burst into tears because of the pain. He had never been this embarrassed and hurt.

If only he could turn back the clock. He wished that he hadn't been so angry at Nora and let her leave angry and by herself. This way, she would not have died.

No matter how he looked at it, it was he who had killed Nora.

An ambulance arrived moments later, and the medical team hurriedly got out of it. They pulled a stretcher out and quickly but carefully laid Nora on it. Carlos followed them into the vehicle. Before the ambulance could even reach the hospital, all first-aid measures had become useless. Nora was declared dead on the way there.

Carlos wept, grabbed the doctor's collar, and demanded for him to save her. But he knew in his heart that Nora would never come back. He knew by himself that he only needed to release his grief.

His wails and screaming echoed inside the vehicle, but nobody tried to stop him. The medical team was used to seeing this. They understood how Carlos was feeling.
