For the last few minutes, they had been turning the whole house upside down to look for the key. The confined space was filled with dust after having been vacant for several weeks already, and it had made them cough. Therefore, Cherish had flung open the windows and doors. However, it had created a convenient way for intruders to enter.
"Hey, are you two done with flaunting your love?" The man at the door had decided to interrupt them, so he knocked on the door.
He was afraid that he wouldn't get the key today if he didn't break up the tender moment.
"Darren, you are illegally intruding into a private residence. You will be arrested for breaking and entering!" With this warning, Carlos quickly pulled Cherish closer and hid her behind him for safety.
The intruder was none other than Darren.
"Huh! Officer Li, aren't you also breaking the law?" Darren sneered.
This house was registered in Nora's name, though she was dead. If Carlos dared to accuse him of illegal trespassing, then Carlos was guilty of the same thing.
Of course, Carlos knew what he meant. He didn't reply to him, but stared at him in silence, getting ready for his next move.
"Officer Li, why don't we have a talk?" Darren did not give up on his attempts to bait Carlos into a conversation.
Carlos also sneered coldly. "I don't think there is anything to discuss between us!" he said.

"Why can't I find his number? Where is it!" she muttered as she skimmed through her contact list.
As she panicked and became extremely worried, a name suddenly popped up before her eyes.

'That's right! I can contact Chuck! Chuck can reach out to Jacob for sure!' Cherish thought excitedly, her heart pounding in her throat.
She dialed Chuck's number with fingers made numb by her trembling.
Fortunately, the call was answered as soon as it rang.
"Uncle Chuck, please call Jacob right now and ask him to come to Nora's apartment. Carlos is in danger!" Cherish quickly said as soon as she heard the voice on the other end of the line.
Utterly confused, Chuck wanted to ask more, but he was cut off by Cherish. "Hurry up!" she begged.

After hanging up the phone, Cherish didn't dare to go out of the bathroom again. She was afraid that she would be a distraction to Carlos, and he would get hurt trying to defend her.
