Not long after Tyron left, Emily picked up her design board again to continue drawing. However, judging by the amount of crumpled paper balls strewn all over the floor, it was clear that something was bothering Emily, as she failed at every attempt to come up with an idea that did not make her want to tear her hair out.

"This is pointless. I'd better give up drawing today,"

Emily sighed, looking at the paper and the work it contained, shaking her head in disapproval. If satisfaction was what she was hoping to get, she wasn't going to get it here.

Suddenly, the sound of the doorknob twisting open relieved her disappointment and shifted her attention towards the door.

Didn't Tyron leave just minutes ago? Did he come back again? Emily's focus was momentarily scattered, filled with nervous anticipation.

A man dressed in black barged in abruptly without sound or word. His head was covered by a peaked cap and his face hidden behind a black gas mask.

Emily's shoulders shook in fear the moment her eyes caught sight of the ominously garbed man. Stupefied, her voice trembled every time she uttered a word. "Who are you? What do you want from me?"

While hoping to distract the intruder's attention with her talking, Emily slowly stretched out her hand to the knife on the desk next to her bed.

"Who do you think I am?"

Upon seeing the suspicion and constant vigilance in Emily's eyes, the man took his mask off to calm her nerves.

"Ray? "

A shriek of excitement escaped Emily's mouth when she saw the familiar face of a young boy with an angelic face.

With a bemused frown between her eye-brows, she lowered her voice and said, "Why did you dress up like this just to come here? I almost mistook you for a robber."

Letting go of the knife's hilt, Emily breathed out, unaware of how long she had been holding her breath. Out of all the people in the world, Ray was the last person she expected to see there.

"I am sorry if I frightened you. I had no choice but to do this." Ray pulled a chair up and flumped down onto it, facing Emily. Taking a brief pause to catch his breath, he continued, "This was the only way that I could think of to avoid being recognized by anyone. I am almost certain that President Gu would not want to deal with the gossips if you and I made it to tomorrow's headlines."

Ray's words couldn't be any truer as Jacob, indeed, had a lot on his plate right now. He was embroiled in an on-going war between the members of the Bai and Fang Group. For reasons that weren't clear, even to Jacob. Looking over to the sides and once over his shoulder, Ray made sure that they were the only people in the ward. In fact, he was specifically looking out for Jacob.

He had carefully chosen this time to pay Emily a visit because he knew that Jacob wouldn't be here duri

ut his knowledge. Emily felt disconcerted by this.

"What does he have to do with my personal life?" While speaking, Ray curled his lips and allowed his sights wander around for a bit, before he sat back on the chair slowly.

As a matter of fact, Brook had no idea that Ray was going to pull something like this. If anything, Brook had made it abundantly clear to Ray that he was no longer allowed to keep in touch with Emily anymore, especially, after Jacob had personally come to the studio to talk to him.

But why would Ray listen to Brook?

Because Jacob was the most powerful man in all of the country? Ray showed a disdainful expression, clucking his tongue and shaking his head to the rhythm of his clucks.

Suddenly, it seemed as though a light bulb had flashed on inside his head. With a surprised look on his face, he walked towards the bed and picked up the box of chocolates Tyron had given to Emily. "Do you like this kind of chocolates too?"

The young boy changed between emotions so rapidly that Emily could barely keep up long enough to figure out his thought patterns. A moment ago, he was on the verge of a breakdown, and now, he was holding a box of chocolates with the same joyful glow in his eyes that Beryl would get at the sight of her favorite strawberry cake.

"Yeah... a friend of mine gave that to me." Emily nodded her head.

Although, Ray's sudden interest over a box of chocolates seemed odd to her, she couldn't help feeling soft in the heart and showing her eager kindness.

"Would you like to try some? If you like this bar of chocolate, you can unwrap it and give it a try. But don't eat too much. We can't have a star like you going around with bad teeth."

Ray stared at the box of chocolates in his hand for a while and then sighed deeply. The disappointment on his face was apparent when he said, "Never mind. I can't eat this."
