He pulled his covers and tried to drag out the part that was under Michelle's arms and her head. She was resting on the bed. He wanted to move away from her and the look he gave her couldn't be colder.

Suddenly, Michelle was woken up from her dream. When she looked up, their eyes met. His eyes were clear and his face was expressionless. Seeing him awake, a smile cracked open her lips.

"You're awake! How do you feel? Do you feel okay?" she asked quickly.

She was so happy and excited that she stood up. She didn't know whether to go out and call David or be here with him. She looked at him for a long time and asked, "Are you hungry? Do you want me to prepare food for you?"

"Don't come into my room next time!" he said.

His voice was low but stern. He really didn't want to see Michelle. He stared at her with narrowed eyes like he truly despised her.

Jacob thought of her as a woman who was unnecessarily trying to get close to him. But he was on his guard, and he thought sneering at her would make her go away. If it wasn't for David's family, he would have literally kicked her out of the room.

"Why are you...?" Michelle stopped mid-sentence, unable to understand what was happening. She was both shocked and angry. She managed to calm herself down and reminded herself that it was in Jacob's nature to be cold. This was the attitude he talked with to everyone. But she knew that the moment she won his heart, he'd do anything for her.

Michelle smiled secretly and responded in a low, sultry tone, "You seem fine. Don't you think it's necessary for us to talk about how I saved your life and deserve to be appreciated for it?"

Her pretty face was stained with confidence. With her eyes bright and lips taut, she definitely looked like a girl in love. Truth was, she had developed some feelings for Jacob after all the time they'd spent together. Otherwise, she wouldn't really have taken care of him continuously, for nights and days.

"You can tell Sam the number. Whatever you quote, I will give it to you..." Jacob said, looking away from her. After that, he shot a serious look at her and arched up a little on the bed. "Remember one thing, you can't have me. You don't even deserve a single finger of mine!" His dark eyes were cold and curt. No one could really see through them. He had a condescending smile on his face with an expression of disgust painted over the rest of his face.

He had seen a lot of women like Michelle in his life. They were all eit

She felt empathetic for what had happened to Emily. But all her empathy seemed to vanish the moment she saw her near Jacob.

"Who are you?"

Emily took a good look at Michelle. After a few seconds, she asked, "Aren't you Ariel? The nanny they found for taking care of Rita?"

Emily remembered her clearly now. This wasn't a woman one could trust.

"I am Michelle, Rita's younger sister," Michelle introduced herself, and she offered a handshake to Emily.

"Why are you here?"

Emily instinctively felt that something was fishy. The woman she remembered had a knack for wreaking havoc. Besides, she could feel that Michelle didn't want her to be here. It was pretty apparent that she was just faking the niceness.

"I've been taking care of him in your absence."

She glanced at Jacob through the glass window. A triumphant smile appeared on her lips.

Although Jacob's eyes were shut, he could listen to them faintly through the crack in the door. From what he had heard, he could make out that Emily was indeed his wife.

"Well, thank you for taking care of him. But now that I am back, I will take it from here." Emily's expression was suave but insinuating. She did not even try to hide her contempt for Michelle. Her eyes were determined as Michelle stared back into them. After a while, Emily delivered the final punch through her words. "If you need anything, you can let me know. I will take care of it. Consider it as a token of appreciation for what you've done..."

No wonder they were a couple. Emily was as fierce as Jacob, and she spoke to Michelle with the same discarding, mean tone which he had spoken with just a while ago.
