“Uuu~, this isn’t working.”

Kili said, looking at the miasma in the alchemy pot, while scratching her head.

The miasma was a failed attempt at creating an intellect-increasing bracelet.

In the end, it took an entire week to come up with a design that Milia was satisfied with.

As a result, we were able to make a pretty cute bracelet using ivy and flowers.

Reno who was put in-charge of production, was sacrificed though.

If you’re forced to make the same bracelet dozens of times a day, then of course you’ll feel disgusted.

But just because the bracelet was done, doesn’t mean the entire process was as well.

Kili had failed at forging.

“Why is it coming out like this? I’m sure I followed the instructions correctly.”

“…Maybe, you aren’t incorporating enough magic?”

“? What does that mean?”

“The people of ancient magician civilization had much larger magical reserves than people today. That’s why Kili’s magic might be insufficient for this forging. More difficult projects even have minimum magic required written in them.”

The people of ancient civilization lived in regions where magic density was much higher.

Simple equipment that increases intellect, must have required an insignificant amount of magic for them, so it probably wasn’t written down.

Right now, Milia’s magical reserves were around 15.

“Does that mean it’s impossible for me? Because my magic hasn’t increased at all lately.”

“Well, that would be the limit where we’re exploring right now.”

We hadn’t moved on from the shallow regions of the forest, so her growth must have peaked and wasn’t going further.

“I wanted to go in further, but because of the ruins before, and now Milia’s bracelet idea which has got her all excited, we haven’t had the time to go.”

“Aa~”

“Ah, but keep this a secret from Milia and the others.”

On the day when we found the ruins, we had decided to head deeper in the forest and hunt greywolf packs. But after that, we found the ruins and then started working on Milia’s bracelet, so we hadn’t had a chance to do so yet.

“I think Milia would notice. She’s very observant of her surroundings.”

“That so… I was also worried about Sui’s spell book, and it would have made no difference with or without Milia’s case. Though I don’t feel like discussing this directly with her either.”

I’m sure she would notice this on her own.

“…How about bringing Aria and Milia together to check on Sui? In that case, you could tell her that you delayed going deeper in the forest because you were worried about Sui?”

“Oh! That’s a good idea. The four of us can talk about this later tonight.”

I was also curious whether something was actually happening to Sui in my absence.

If that was the case then I’d have to take proper measures.

She could have been inflicted with a curse similar to mine.

“Fuwa~, what’s up with gathering us at this hour?”

“We have arrived in any case, so please explain it to us in detail.”

Evening.

After Sui and Reno went to sleep, Aria, Milia, Kili, and I had gathered in the dining hall.

This was usually her lights-out time, so Aria looked quite sleepy.

“I’ve gathered you all regarding Sui.”

“Sui? What’s wrong with her?”

“She was chosen by the spell book, right? I wanted to confirm if there were any changes in her.”

“! So that spell book was dangerous after all!?”

Aria rattles up from her chair.

The sympathetic Aria was truly worried about Sui.

“…It shouldn’t be a big deal. The book itself shouldn’t have that much power in any case.”

Aria exhaled in relief and sat back down.

I ended up telling a small lie.

There are some spell books that can corrupt and take over their owners.

Well, those spell books were said to be disposed of during the ancient civilization, so there were barely any remaining now.

“So, I was thinking that if there were no changes in Sui’s state, we could start heading a bit deeper into the forest.”

“…Is that not dangerous?”

Milia asked anxiously.

Her anxiety was justified too.

“The way you guys are now, I still think you’ll be able to manage yourselves with ease. In the worst case, I’ll lend you a hand.”

“…Shouldn’t we get more stronger first?”

“Hasn’t Aria’s growth slowed down lately?”

“Eh? Yeah, now that you mention it…”

“With the concentration of magic where we’re currently exploring, this is your peak. A single greywolf is too weak for you guys now. If we want to train more efficiently, it’ll have to be deeper inside the forest.”

“…I see.”

Aria grinned after hearing my explanation.

As expected, she was happy at the prospect of getting stronger.

(Aria seems already pumped to go)

As I turn towards Milia, she was making a face that showed she wasn’t fully on board.

“Our mentor is Lain. If Lain thinks something is correct, then that shall be our course of action.”

“Alright. Then tomorrow, we’ll head deeper into the Demon Forest.”

That said, we started preparing to head deep inside the forest.
