The more he thought about it, the more Zong Jiu felt that this idea was feasible.

Everyone else couldn’t touch them, yet he could. Following this line of thought, being able to yank them out was completely conceivable.

If there was a chance, he definitely had to verify it.

Although Zong Jiu never believed in prophecies or fate, whether it was strength or the various incidents that had happened before, he and No. 1 were like fire and water, both very powerful yet neither willing to concede.

If it was just seeing through his disguise, that was still acceptable. But also being able to yank out the puppet strings, if Zong Jiu was the Devil, he would immediately eliminate this person chosen by the heavens without delay.

If they hadn’t formed any enmity in the past, Zong Jiu would’ve merely watched from the sidelines.

However, since they had enmity between them, Zong Jiu wasn’t someone afraid of trouble. He was very willing and happy to be able to create problems for the other person.

After he made up his mind, he pushed this thought to the side and turned his head, asking in a quiet voice, “You said earlier that No. 1 was in this instance. Then what does he want to do?”

Zhuge An glanced at him, “After this instance finishes, I will naturally tell you.”

Fine.

Zong Jiu shrugged and didn’t ask anymore. He continued to follow behind Lao Qiang.

This restart of the instance was like a knife hanging above everyone’s head.

An instance with a duration of seven days was restarted after only three days. What was more scary was that they hadn’t even gotten any leads.

All the newcomers had unsettled expressions. No one talked during the walk, a gloomy atmosphere surrounding them.

This time the teams were split by those who gave money and those who didn’t. The tables had turned. Thus, the only empty mud house in the village was occupied by them.

The people from the other team didn’t come even after a long time. Who knew what idea they would think of. Anyway, Zong Jiu didn’t care.

Seeing Lao Qiang’s figure become distant, Xu Sen turned his head back, “Should we go and tail him?”

Zong Jiu waved his hand, “There’s no need. Lock the door well. Let’s first organize the clues.”

Hearing this, everyone obediently sat down on the floor, forming a circle.

After closing the door, the light within the mud house dimmed. Only a bit of light continued to shine in from the window.

Earlier, everyone was busy thinking, and they were affected by the shock and sense of urgency brought to them by the instance restarting, so they unconsciously ignored the burning hunger in their stomachs. It was only when everyone sat on the cold ground that they started to feel uncomfortable.

After being trainees for so long, even though there was a restaurant in the trainee dormitory, it was only to satisfy their taste buds. When it came to feeling hungry, many felt like it was something foreign and from far in the past, yet the hunger came fiercely and unstoppably.

“Our team doesn’t have any rations. What do we do?” Xu Sen held his own stomach. He wanted to cry but had no tears.

In only a short period of time, his hunger value had dropped from 19 to 15. Now, seeing the numbers in red, he felt like he was shrouded by the shadow of the death god.

The other people also frowned or had bitter expressions, “How about we go hunt some wild game in the nearby forests?”

Everyone tacitly skipped the suggestion of finding food in the village. After all, from the news that Black-Robed Azan brought back, the people in this village ate human meat. Just listening to it made people want to puke.

“But behind the village are mountains…”

The special props in the hands of the trainees were mostly props that dealt with the supernatural, such as various F-rank spells, amulets, and such. Very few props had physical attack abilities. Wanting to catch wild game wasn’t any easier for them compared to the original residents of this era.

Plus, in this time of famine, even people couldn’t eat enough, much less animals.

Someone quietly said, “Sigh, even if we could hunt some snakes and such, they would still be edible.”

“Sigh, in this weather, the snakes are all hibernating.”

“Gb kf tjnf ab ub jcv mjamt gjar cfjg atf wev tberf atja kf rajsfv ja yfobgf?”

Cr rbbc jr atfs atbeuta bo atja ugjs, oja wberf, wjcs qfbqif rajgafv ab offi cjerfber.

Pc j alwf bo ojwlcf, gjar kfgf jigfjvs tjgv ab mbwf ys vfilmjmlfr. Lbkfnfg, ab agjlcffr, la kjr delaf atf tegvif.

The hunger value that the system gave out as punishment was truly scary.

The trainees didn’t want to think too deeply. However, to put it plainly, it meant that they were on the same level as all the famine refugees in this instance. No one was higher than anyone else.

When facing the issue of survival, people’s moral bottom line would drop again and again.

The trainees were the same.

[Sigh, this Famine Mountain Village instance has made me remember the A-rank instance ‘Deadly Poisonous Gas’.]

[I also thought of it. It’s really too cruel…]

[That instance was really traumatizing for me. Even if it wasn’t broadcasted, I was already scared enough from hearing the recap of those renowned seniors.]

Deadly Poisonous Gas was only an A-rank instance; however, its mortality rate didn’t lose to any S-rank instance.

The setting of the instance was that an entire small team would be sent to an environment filled with poisonous fog. The danger came from the various types of mutated animals, plants, and zombies, and the main task was to survive.

The scary thing was that the air in the instance was poisonous. If they wanted to survive, everyone only had one oxygen tank that could provide for only a day’s breathing needs.

If four or five people died from the instance and left their oxygen tanks behind, then everything was still okay.

However, if no one died, then the amount of oxygen tanks that could be obtained from additional tasks was no more than ten. Splitting it evenly, even if they were used sparingly, at least four to five people wouldn’t get enough.

No one would want to die.

Even if mutual killing was prohibited, it was merely in terms of direct killing. Indirect killing or gently unplugging the other’s oxygen tube wouldn’t be classified as killing by the system.

The result of that instance was evident. Cracks basically appeared in all the teams that had entered this instance, and they all eventually headed towards destruction. Even if someone luckily survived, they would end up with severe PTSD.

Famine Mountain Village, this instance, was also the same.

When it touched upon the bottom line regarding survival, no one knew what the things would look like in the end.

However, it was beyond doubt that if things continued like this, they would head towards the most horrible ending.

Everyone in the mud house sighed. Only the white-haired young man stuck both hands into his pockets, saying with a smile, “Want to see me do a trick?”

The other people: “???”

Although everyone was hungry, seeing a magician do tricks was very interesting. Thus, the newcomers fiercely struggled in their hearts before they all stared at Zong Jiu with expectant gazes.

“Coming up is the moment to witness a miracle.”

The Magician smiled lightly. His two hands were pressed together in front of his chest, palms flipping and turning.

In the next second, a bright red apple appeared in his palm. The edible wax on it glowed softly in the dim light, looking infinitely attractive.

“Gulp.”

The sound of someone swallowing rang out in the silent air.

The bullet chat was also dumbfounded.

[Fuck, where did this apple come from?]

[Did anyone see the Magician’s movements clearly? Are there any masters here to unravel and explain this magic trick?]

[I couldn’t see it clearly. Just now, I had purposely zoomed in and still didn’t see it. /dumbfounded.jpg]

Zong Jiu didn’t even look at it. He just casually threw the apple to Xu Sen, who was standing opposite to him.

The latter caught it in a hurry and stood there while hugging the apple in his arms as if he was hugging the entire world.

The Magician lowered his head, “What type of fruit do you like to eat?”

“M-me?”

Xu Sen stuttered, “Anything is okay?”

Zong Jiu showed a very professional business smile, “Of course. Anything is okay.”

“Then… durian?”

Zong Jiu flipped his palm, and a durian wrapped in a plastic bag appeared in his hand.

“Out of consideration for those who don’t like to eat durian, go to a ventilated place by the door and deal with it there.”

He turned towards the other people, “What do you guys want to eat?”

The trainees became excited.

“I want to eat pineapple!”

“I want to eat pears!”

“I want to eat kiwis!”

……

Voices came one after another.

Zong Jiu nodded his head to all, his slender fingers flying through the air. With each turn, a fruit would appear.

Every time a fruit appeared, everyone would let out exclamations and applaud while their faces were red with excitement. The applause and cheers almost blew through the roof.

It wasn’t just the trainees on site. Even the broadcast audience couldn’t figure out where he pulled those fruits from.

[Screen recording! Quick, record the screen! Upload it onto the forum at night. I don’t believe that there’s not a single master out there who can figure it out!]

[Fuck… Did anyone count how many fruits he took out? Everyone got one. I’m really impressed.]

[I??? Mom, how come this magician knows magic?!]

[This is magic, right? This is actual magic. Don’t try to fool me!]

There were also other bullet chat members who looked at the situation from a different perspective.

[Ah, the Magician is such a good person. He has food, yet he didn’t hide it for himself.]

[That’s right. Originally when he said that he would make the wish to send everyone out of this world if he got the universal wish ticket, I didn’t quite believe him. Now I’ve been slapped in the face. Sure enough, there are still more good people than not in this world.]

[Being good to this extent is really amazing, unlike the Holy Son, Messiah, who is a bit too fake.]

[+1. In the last instance, I felt that the Holy Son suddenly became strange. He wasn’t like that before.]

After he had given everyone a fruit, Zong Jiu slowly pulled out two watermelons and threw one to Zhuge An. He himself slowly sat down, the cards in his hands slashing a few times, cutting open the watermelon.

Zhuge An glanced at him, “The Strange Black Box?”

Zong Jiu was speechless, “A watermelon still can’t plug up your mouth?”

There were nearly a thousand exchangeable props in Las Vegas. Being able to tell so quickly, it was inevitable to make people feel defeated.

Only normal props could be taken out of the Magician’s Strange Black Box. Although there was a daily limit, because the things were all normal props, survival points could be exchanged for more chances to take out props.

The fruits that Zong Jiu had just taken out took about a little more than a thousand survival points. To be completely honest, these were really sky-high priced fruits.

Of course, Zong Jiu wasn’t someone who would do philanthropic acts for nothing. He had already planned out how to make up for the loss. Now all he had to do was put it into action.

For a while, the newcomers in the mud house all concentrated on finishing off the things in their hands.

After they finished eating, Zong Jiu clapped his hands, “Let’s discuss this village’s situation now.”

“First of all, I suspect that our thought process in the first round was completely wrong.”

According to the clues given by the Black-Robed Azan, the villagers should’ve gone to the temple early in the morning.

This meant that something must have happened in the temple, thus causing the main missions of the two camps of identity cards to fail at the same time.

The morning of two days later, what in the world happened in that temple?

Everyone thought hard but couldn’t come up with anything.

Obviously, they missed an important clue.

Zong Jiu slowly said, “Even if we have to become enemies with the villagers, we have to save that woman. She’s the only known breakthrough point.”

No one had any objections.

Right then, Xu Sen, who was next to the door and had finished eating the durian, came back.

He carefully locked the door, “Brother Jiu, Brother Jiu, the other team also came. They are outside our house.”

He didn’t know what method the other team used to enter the village, but they had finally entered. The person leading the way was still Lao Qiang.

Last time, an accident happened in front of the old mud house. Right now, the canopy of the old locust tree was completely empty. Thus, they learned from Zong Jiu and his team from the last round, picked an empty area in front of the mud house, and sat down with the old locust tree visible from that spot.

Zong Jiu let out an “Oh” and then glanced outside the wooden window.

The other team was currently pulling out rations from their bag and swallowing them with a frown.

Not long ago, the newcomers in the mud house had already experienced the fast speed at which the hunger value dropped. At this rate, even if they rationed as much as possible, they needed to eat at least two meals a day.

Two meals.

The amount of food in the bag wasn’t a lot. At most, it would be able to last them until tomorrow afternoon.

When that time comes… when they really couldn’t find any more food, Zong Jiu would go and extort them at high prices. Wouldn’t that be great?
