Yvonne glanced at the man who sat on the other side of the sofa with a confused look on her face.

'He would usually wait for a chance to carry me in his arms and place me on his lap so what is wrong with him today?' She wondered with a suspicious look appearing on her face.

Oblivious to the thoughts inside his daughter's head, Rutherford was trying to make small talk with his child but was brutally failing at it.

After their lunch together he had asked Yvonne to follow him to the parlor where they were at this moment.

Raylene had decided that it was best to let them have this conversation alone and hence had taken her leave in order to take a much needed afternoon siesta.

Hence at this moment, the father and daughter sat in silence as they looked at each other's faces.

'This is getting ridiculous now! How long does he plan on staring at my face without uttering a single word?' She scowled in her mind as she watched the man's actions of sitting still.

The look of impatience was apparent and even heightened when she saw that he remained silent after all this while.

"If Papa has nothing to say then Vonna has to leave now." She declared as she hopped down from the couch on which she had been seated until now.

When Rutherford saw that she was about to turn around and leave, he rose from his seat as well.

The guilt of the earlier lecture that he had given to her for her etiquettes made him unable to open his mouth.

'I was only trying to teach her what was right and what wasn't.' He defended his actions which had caused this awkward incident to take place.

Though he had done the right thing, the fact that his daughter was now upset with him and did not wish to spend time with him was what was making him feel worse.

"I need to find the maps of the Kingdom for my home assignment given by Marquess Samed." Yvonne's soft mutters were heard in the silent room.

'He looks like a kicked puppy how can I just leave him without any explanations?' She sighed and then smiled at her father to show that she was alright.

This effort that she had made to let him know why she desired to leave the room made the man feel better in a single second.

He nodded his head, indicating that she might leave since this was related to her studies.

Yvonne waved at him and then turned around as she trudged towards the door which was closed.

However, before she could reach the door, she heard an eager voice which made her stop in her tracks.

"Vonna, wait!" Rutherford called out and then there were footsteps heard from behind.

When Yvonne turned around, she could only see long legs as the tall man had reached her position in just a few steps.

"Let me take you there." He offered and soon picked her up.

Yvonne was now used to his sudden actions of carrying her in his arms and therefore she wasn't as startled as she usually would be.

'Might as well save up my energy for when I have to make that report on the assignment Marquess has given.' She surmised and then stayed still in his arms.

Rutherford smiled when he felt her soft arms wrap around his neck for support as her cheek rested on his shoulder.

'I have today and tomorrow to finish this project and keep it ready for when the Marquess arrives after the weekend.' She decided that she had a lot of work to do and only two days to complete it.

"We have reached." The man's announcement dragged her back from her thoughts as she looked at his face.

Yvonne nodded her head and then turned around but was soon confused as to where it was that he had brought her to.

"This is not the library, Papa." She reminded him and wondered which room this was.

The library was on the next floor and this fact came to her mind as she continued to gaze at the large door before her.

'I have never come to this side of the house.' She pondered as she turned to look at her father once again.

Rutherford chuckled when he saw her apprehensive face and patted her head with a gentle touch.

He did not reply to what she had said and simply put his other hand in his coat's pocket.

A black engraved key was pulled out after which he brought the key before Yvonne's eyes.

"This…" He uttered while displaying the key to her and then pushed it into the keyhole present on the door.

*Click*

As Rutheford turned the key, the door unlocked with a loud click, and then with a twist of the doorknob, the door was pushed open.

"... Is Papa's special place." He explained while taking a step inside the room which had been unlocked right before Yvonne's eyes.

The little girl inside her father's arms stared at the new surroundings after they had entered the room.

Rutherford was swift to shut the door once they had entered and even locked the door from the inside.

This action of his made Yvonne's brows raise high in question at his secretive ways.

'What is this precious place that he has it locked at all times?' She suspected as she scanned the room that she had been inside for the very first time.

The first thing that caught her eye was the large and regal desk before the window which made her recall her desk at Platina Entertainment, her company in the old world.

'This man surely has taste!' She remarked as with a single glance she could make out that this was one expensive table.

To her left were large and heavy looking bookshelves filled with books and ledgers of various kinds.

'Some of these look really old and untouched.' She deduced after noticing the dull leather and the yellow pages when compared to the newer books on the other side of the shelf.

When she turned to her right, she could not sit still in her father's arms when she noticed the beautiful tapestry on the wall.

"The map of Rosenhyde!" She cried out in a loud voice that had even surprised her.

'What the hell was that for!?' She chided her over-enthusiastic mind for behaving in such an unladylike manner.

She then glimpsed at Rutherford and was waiting for when he would lecture her once again but she did not hear any angry word from him even after waiting for a few seconds.

Rutherford was just as surprised as she was when she shouted out in that loud voice.

Once he had recovered from the initial shock, he let out a chuckle and nodded at her.

"Yes, that is the map of our Kingdom and also the reason why I have brought you here to my…" He declared while glancing across the room which many people have not entered.

"Your office!" The childish voice completed the sentence for the man which elicited another hearty chuckle from him.
