Rutherford glanced down at the little girl who was trying hard to conceal her presence by hiding in his arms.

Just earlier, he was stunned to see his precious daughter's body halfway outside the window.

His body had moved on pure instinct as he jumped forward to bring her into his arms where he could be sure that she was safe from all harm.

Now, as his daughter sat secure on his lap, he could sense her surprise at the sudden outburst she had witnessed.

'So cute!' The father was trying hard to control his laughter as he watched his wife chiding the little girl.

To make things worse for him, Yvonne turned her face away from her mother and buried it inside his unbuttoned coat.

He had unbuttoned it due to the long journey and the summer heat.

The inner shirt was enough so he left the coat open as it lay by his sides.

However, this coat had acted as a curtain for his daughter who was now hiding behind it to stay out of her mother's furious eyes.

This action of hers was enough to let the man's laughter erupt in the carriage as he looked down at the cute little girl who was practically buried inside his coat in order to hide from her mother.

Howard too snickered which elicited a glare from Raylene before she turned towards her husband with an equally furious glare.

Rutherford in reply smiled and nodded at her that he would take over the matter from here.

'All this doting is making her so brave!' Raylene narrowed her eyes at her daughter who was now looking like a cute panda hidden inside her husband's coat.

Though this sight was already melting her heart, she decided to stay strong to make sure that such an incident did not occur ever again.

Once Rutherford noticed his wife's unhappy acquiesce to his request of handling this matter, he glanced down to the little girl who remained in the same position.

Yvonne's face was lowered, her hands gripping her father's shirt and her body covered by his coat.

'I can only hide for now.' She decided and gulped while recalling the scary aura her mother was emanating even now.

She had already accepted this St. Claire couple as her parents in this world so the thought of getting yelled at by her sweet and loving mother was something that she did not want to experience.

In her previous world, she was too young and also very sensible so she had never been reprimanded by her mother back then as well.

The St. Claire couple of that world only taught their daughter the right things to do with their words and never once raised their voice at her.

This was one of the reasons why, even when she got older under the ruthless training of her Grandpa, she had retained the teachings she often received from her father who was extremely gentle with her.

Her father was a St. Claire too and he ran their business with an iron fist and his quick wit but at home, he was a responsible son, a loving husband, and a caring dad.

Thus, when the couple died in an accident when she and her baby brother Vince were too young, Grandpa Leo had to take over the reins of the company once again until one of his grandchildren was old enough to do it.

The old man chose Yvonne to take over for two reasons.

Every child of their family had potential but she was chosen since she was older and he could start training her straight away as Vince was still a toddler back then.

'He thought that he did not have much time.' Yvonne's bitter smile while thinking of her past went unnoticed as she was still behind the coat.

Her Grandpa's hasty decision and actions, she had later learned why he had done so.

However, it was already a thing in the past and he did what he thought was the right thing to do at that time.

While Yvonne was still in the thoughts of the rigorous training she was put through by her Grandpa who chose her as the heir, she heard the gentle voice of her father, Rutherford reaching her ears.

"What made you do that just now?" He investigated the reason why she was halfway outside the window.

Noticing the gentle voice which did not exhibit any traces of anger like Raylene's, Yvonne decided to finally slip out of her hiding place.

However, as a safety measure, she only peeked her head out as her body was still inside the coat.

Rutherford's arms were still around his child while she remained hidden behind his coat with just her head visible to everyone else.

Their eyes were fixed on her as they awaited the reason for her to try such a dangerous stunt.

Yvonne once again was unsure how to put her thoughts into words but after a while, the stifling silence made her open her mouth anyway.

"I wanted to see if Demon was alright." She muttered in an aggrieved voice as that was her only reason for peeping outside the window.

Hearing her explanation for what she had done, Howard made an 'O' face, Raylene rubbed her forehead to control her anger while Rutherford nodded his head in acceptance.

"Your etcher is here because he wants to be by your side. I am sure that he will be fine." The Earl reassured her, trying to ease the worries in her heart.

When Yvonne had gone to inform Demon about her trip, the etcher was instantly gloomy and dejected.

He wished to follow them on this journey as it was his duty to protect her from all harm.

Not being able to take his dull appearance, the little girl spoke to her father about this, and only after insisting for long did he accept her demand.

Since Demon was an exceptionally large horse and looked intimidating as well, they could not just let him gallop freely in order to follow them.

Therefore, the Earl came up with an idea to allow the etcher to come along and also not to incite public frenzy at seeing such a scary horse running wild through the streets of Amarthea.

The etcher was then explained their plan and he was more than willing to follow it if it meant that he could be by his Master's side.

Thus, right now, Demon was one among the horses harnessed to their carriage, pulling them forward.

Yvonne had been worried that her dear pet would be uncomfortable with the harness and reins as he was not used to it.

Therefore, her aim was only to check on her etcher and nothing else.

'I held onto the window tight to make sure that I wouldn't fall out.' She pouted her lips as her mother had yelled at her even when she had taken necessary precautions before peeping outside the window.

Raylene sighed when she realized that her earlier anger might have frightened the little girl but she could not control her emotions as the little girl had given her a fright too.

"Vonny, Demon will be fine so please do not try something like that again?" Her words sounded like pleading to the daughter who finally turned around to look at her.

Yvonne looked at her mother whose anger seemed to have calmed down then at her brother who nodded as well, agreeing with their mother's words.

"Demon would be worried too if something were to happen to you." He added to make her understand why their mother had reacted that way.

This made Yvonne pause for a moment in contemplation before she looked up and nodded at them.

"Vonny is sorry for troubling you, Mama." She apologized once she realized that she had given them a fright which had caused this entire incident.

Raylene let out a helpless smile as she rubbed her child's head.

"If you pull something like that again… Grounded for two months." The mother's smile was sweet but the words she uttered made Yvonne freeze once again.

Looking up at her father for help, the little girl found him averting his eyes from her.

His wife's glare demanding his silence in this matter was more powerful than his daughter's cute charm so there was not much trouble to figure out who he would support.

'Traitor!' Yvonne glared at the man who had chosen to stand by his wife on this decision.

Puffing up her cheeks, she decided to look away from all of them to not spoil her mood once again.
