Mo Xing Chen didn’t have any other alternative but to force out a smile as he said, “Dear Nephew Dong, this saber is obviously a divine weapon.” Saying so, he grabbed the saber, and tried to pick it up. But to his surprise, his hands were pulled down to the ground by the weight of the sword. He exerted all his strength, just to hold on to the saber as he didn’t wish to humiliate himself in front of everyone, while also quite alarmed by the weight of the saber.

[What a heavy saber!]

The saber made a very high pitched ‘clank’ sound as he drew it out, and suddenly a cold-black aura radiated all around as its murderous energy spread throughout the Mo Clan’s residence; the temperature inside the residence seemed to have dropped more than ten degrees in an instant.

The entire body of the saber was devoid of any decorations! It was plain and simple! However, its edge was sharp enough to accidentally cut through mountains, and turn it into mere shambles; the smoothness of the saber in itself made it a lethal weapon.

A saber such as this could easily slice even a sledgehammer into two.

“Even if you don’t use any strength, this saber still has the capacity to cut through iron as though you were cutting mud. It’s sharpness in no less than that of the saber that my big brother gave to Xiao Wu, the ‘Dreaming of a Gentle Dance’ Saber…” Dong Wu Shang slyly concealed his intentions in his words.

“‘Dreaming of a Gentle Dance’ Saber…” Mo Xing Chen was dumbfounded, seemingly believing almost every word spoken by Dong Wu Shang.

He too, was aware of the name given to that Saber...

“This is a magnificent saber…” Mo Xing Chen couldn’t resist the temptation to hold onto that saber, but put it down reluctantly, still. [Ah, even if this saber stays in our clan, even a King level expert might not be capable enough to wield it. A blade of this caliber can only be used properly by the members of Black Saber Clan.]

[This is just too heavy, ah!]

Dong Wu Shang took the saber back with a satisfactory smile on his face, and said “This saber was given to me by my big brother as a present.”

Mo Xing Chen was once again taken aback; speculations started running deep within his heart about this mysterious big brother‘s capability, believing that this mysterious personage had once held a treasure as exceptional the ‘Dreaming of a Gentle Dance’ Saber.

[What kind of extraordinary background would allow a person to give away such earthshaking divine weapons as presents… and that too not one, but two of them.]

“Dreaming of a Gentle Dance Saber… its name contains ‘Qing Wu’ which is derived from Miss Xiao Wu’s name.” Dong Wu Shang said in a heavy tone, “Uncle Mo, I request you refrain from betraying the name of the saber.”

Mo Xing Chen barely smiled back in return; unable to interpret the feelings of his heart.

“Oh shoot! I have to go see Xiao Wu now since big brother has sent me to deliver some gifts for her.” Dong Wu Shang smiled mischievously, and said: “These things are mostly to amuse little children… Uncle Mo, I’m in a bit of a hurry right now… may not be able to bid you a proper goodbye…”

Mo Xing Chen raised his head, feeling utterly confused.

[In case Dong Wu Shang informs his big brother about Xiao Wu’s bitter life in the clan …]

Dong Wu Shang advanced towards Mo Qing Wu’s courtyard, and had a little conversation with her. As naive as she was, Mo Qing Wu stared at Dong Wu Shang with puzzled eyes as he whispered into her tiny ears, “People here might try and ask you about your Brother Chu Yang’s appearance, but you must not tell them anything, no matter what, got it?”

“But, why?” Mo Qing Wu blinked her eyes in confusion.

“Because if you told them, your Brother Chu Yang might get into grave danger… he might even die.” Dong Wu Shang replied.

“He might die?!” these words frightened Mo Qing Wu to the core.

“Then I will not speak anything of it.” The little girl nodded her head fiercely with a resolute expression on her face; the bowknot she wore also made a humming sound in response to her nod.

Soon afterwards, Dong Wu Shang left.

A plethora of thoughts and doubts continued to torment Mo Xing Chen’s mind, and he eventually decided to enquire with his daughter about this entire situation.

“Xiao Wu, the person who saved you that day, how did he look?” Mo Xing Chen sat down beside Mo Qing Wu and asked very softly, “It was very kind of that person to save you, and now it is our duty to repay him for saving your life.”

“I… I forgot.” Mo Qing Wu replied while blinking her eyes rapidly.

“You forgot?” Mo Xing Wu was surprised.

“Yes.” Mo Qing Wu nodded with all her strength: “I really forgot.”

Mo Xing Chen wanted to try and ask her again, but then, suddenly he saw a hint of fear and hatred in the eyes of his daughter; he was left shivering with a weakness which seemed to be spreading throughout his body.

He could sense that he was the reason behind this fear and hatred in her eyes!

[How can she look at her own father with such animosity in her gaze?]

[She is just a child! A little girl who hasn’t even turned 10 properly!]

[Why is she enduring so much pain?]

Mo Xing Chen’s heart softened as he looked at his trembling daughter. He let his hand out to gently caress his own daughter, but Mo Qing Wu’s body began to tremble even more vigorously with fear. Her body cowered back in terror as she tried to avoid the touch of his hand, while her eyes remained glued to his face.

Mo Xing Chen’s hand stopped midair as his soul started to fill with pain.

He then gently pulled his hand away, and sighed sadly.

[How couldn’t I see it? My treatment towards Mo Qing Wu has drastically changed during the recent days in comparison to how I was treating her before. Such cold treatment could leave her immature mind traumatized for an eternity.]

Mo Xing Chen suddenly realized that Mo Qing Wu may never be able to forget the events that had unfolded over these past few days. Even if she tried her best to rise above it, she may still never be able to rid her heart of the pain which clogged her soul.

However, he had no other choice; he was the Lord of the Mo Clan.

He actually felt forever obliged towards his duty as the Clan Lord of the Mo Clan. He was forever obliged to work towards the benefit of the Mo Clan. And if there were matters of life and death involving his clan, then he couldn’t act as the father of a daughter!

Sitting in a position like that, he would never be able to enjoy the affection of a family.

On the other hand, what Mo Xing Chen didn’t realize, was that Mo Qing Wu was still secretly hoping to be caressed by her father; she longed for his warm embrace.

Just moments ago, she had started feeling a little inferior as she had encountered bitter experiences with her father in the recent days, and had therefore acted subconsciously like a little girl with a temper would. However, if her father was to extend his hands one more time, she would definitely jump into her father’s arms, bursting with tears of joy.

She had been hoping to cry in her father’s embrace for a long time now; she had even dreamt about being hugged by him…

For this reason, her tiny heart went into a state of complete despair the moment she saw her father’s hand drawing back…

[Is he not even willing to… hug me now? ]

Ever since Ji Mo, Luo Ke Di and Dong Wu Shang had come to visit Mo Qing Wu, she couldn’t help but feel that they still visited her out of affection, even if they were from outside of her family; and not out of responsibility. And thus, she had started to feel even more alienated from her own father after those visits of theirs.

Mo Qing Wu’s beautiful big eyes turned gloomy as if they had given up all hope while her beautiful tender red lips turned completely pale as though there was no color left in them anymore.

At this time, she remembered Dong Wu Shang’s words.

[“If you told them about your Brother Chu Yang, he might even die.”]

[First Brother Dong Wu Shang walked in and told me not to talk about Brother Chu Yang, and right after that, father came in and started inquiring about Brother Chu Yang…]

[He definitely didn’t come here to see me; he just came in to gather information about Brother Chu Yang… so that he could kill him…]

Mo Qing Wu suddenly felt her heart turning cold as ice.

She hatefully looked at the man who was supposed to be the person closest to her in this entire world. Her mind yelled out as her heart started to brim with hatred: [why? Why are you being so unfair to me? There are only a few people in this world who are good to me, and now you want to hurt Brother Chu Yang? Why?]

[Will you only be satisfied when nobody in this world is good to me?]

Mo Qing Wu lowered her head in despair.

“Xiao Wu, please stay inside the room, it’s very cold outside.” Mo Xing Chen lowered his head and heaved a deep sigh before saying, “Don’t run around carelessly all the time...it’s time for you to learn needlework and handcrafts from your mother.”

This was perhaps the longest sentence that he had spoken to her in a long time; though, he simply said this out of deep concern for his very own daughter.

He finally gave up on questioning his daughter. [I should let her collect some good memories for the time being; as for the future matters, we can handle them as and when they come our way.]

However, her father’s last sentence had broken her heart. [Learn needlework…]

“I know” Mo Qing Wu said in a low voice, and then lowered her head while she turned around to enter her own room, gradually. She didn’t raise her head back again; nor did she turn around to look at her father even once.

Splash! Big teardrops started dropping onto the stone steps as she entered her room, gently shutting the doors behind her.

As the doors were coming to a close, in a way it felt like she was also closing the doors to her heart.

Today, in this moment, she had locked herself away from her clan, and also from the rest of the world.

From then onwards, her heart had completely frozen.

As Mo Xing Chen stood outside and stared at the closed door, he suddenly started to feel an awful pain gripping his heart; like he had lost his own daughter.

It seemed like his daughter had locked her heart up, and was never going to open it in her life again.

He shook his head, expelling those absurd thoughts that had filled his mind. A bitter smile spread across his face: [that is not possible, after all, she is just a kid; a little girl who has recently turned ten...]

Then, he turned around and walked away quickly.

[Mo Qing Wu’s Saber, ‘Dreaming of a Gentle Dance’ is actually a gift from a personage with great backing. I must immediately discuss this matter with the clan elders. We cannot afford to make a powerful enemy…]

[We must come up with a foolproof plan. In case that great personage comes to visit our Mo Clan, we not only need to find a way to retain that saber, but also to build a powerful alliance with his clan by making full use of his relationship with our Mo Qing Wu…]

[This is the best way to use my daughter of our Clan’s prosperity…]

Mo Xing Chen went up to the elders pavilion and explained the purpose of the meeting.

Although, when he started speaking Dong Wu Shang’s words, the Great Elder cracked a smile and stated while slanting eyes, “Just on the basis of this one-sided story told by the second young master of the Dong Clan, you are actually telling me that you believe every word of it to be true? How can the Lord of the Mo Clan have such an indecisive mind?”

“I think this… this shouldn’t be false.” Mo Xing Chen said. “I knew that Xiao Wu had been saved by some great expert from the very beginning. Moreover, that saber cannot be the gift of an ordinary person.”

“That is not necessary either.” Mo Wu Xin contemplated, “This matter, however, cannot be neglected. We will quietly observe her from the sidelines, and wait for the changes and transformations, and if that “so-called” highly skilled person is to visit her, and he actually ends up matching up to his ability, then it is a wonderful thing… we may even find a way to use him for our benefits.”

“Okay, before that, what should we do about Qing Wu’s saber… ” Mo Xing Chen asked.

“Just because the second young master of the Dong Clan said so, you have actually started thinking of handing that extremely precious saber over to a cripple who has no future in the clan? What if it’s the Dong Clan’s plot to snatch that saber away from us?”

Mo Wu Xin’s eyelids drooped down as he strengthened his argument, “If something like that happens… you do know what the consequences will be, right? The Dong Clan is also known as the Black Saber Clan; they are the real experts of ‘saber arts’.”

“The Great Elder is correct.” Mo Xing Chen remained silent for a long time, and then finally bowed.
