In the journey to the south this time, there were multiple mountains and twisty roads, therefore it was difficult for the horse carriage to go fast.

YangYue continued feeding porridge to A’Rui, who was still unconscious, then changed the medicine; afterward, he got out of the carriage and sat next to Jinxia, who was riding the horse.

“How’s his condition?” Jinxia lowered her voice to ask, their horses were far away from the three horse carriages, and actually they shouldn’t have been afraid of being heard.

“The wounds are healing quickly, but he’s still unconscious. Is there an injury in his brain?” YangYue pointed at his head.

“That’s not possible, I’ve checked his head.” Although Jinxia’s mouth said so, in her heart, she was a little hesitant, “…But, he was wounded by multiple flying weapons, maybe I didn’t see it.”

YangYue said, “I think we should find a doctor to see him.”

“I will find an opportunity to talk to Lu Daren.” Jinxia replied.

Hearing this, YangYue froze and, remembering his father’s words, said, “I will talk to him.”

Jinxia noticed the change of tone in his voice. She glanced at him, “You? I think you’ve been strange these past few days, as if you were guarding me.”

“Of course not.”

YangYue clumsily grabbed the saddle from Jinxia’s hand, acting like he was concentrating on riding the horse, which convinced Jinxia that he was certainly hiding something.

“Say it, you know this master doesn’t have much patience.” Jinxia stretched out her hand and was about to tickle him.

“Don’t joke, if you startle the horse, you know it won’t be safe.”

Jinxia looked at him suspiciously, “Did the master give you an order? Why aren’t you telling me?”

YangYue remained silent and continued on riding the horse. Jinxia didn’t force him further, just tilted her head and attentively stared at him. After a few seconds, YangYue finally gave up and sighed, “Father told me to make sure you stay away from Lu Daren.”

Jinxia fell silent, “Master is afraid I will offend him?”

“Father did not say it clearly…” YangYue shook the saddle, “In my opinion, one part is afraid you might actually offend him, the other part might be worried about the issue between men and women, afraid he might take advantage of you.”

“Master is thinking too much.” Jinxia let out a long sigh, she faced the front and said, “Look at his cousin, she is educated and polite, like a precious flower petal, how could he possibly like me?”

“That’s right.” YangYue replied, “What is his cousin’s name?”

She glared at him and said, “Chun Yumin, she is the daughter of the second son of Lu Daren’s grandmother’s sister.”

“What?” YangYue didn’t understand her, after repeating it several times in his head, he finally realized, “She is the niece of Lu Daren’s grandmother. She is also very pretty.”

“Other than that, the old lady who is serving her is more classy than my mother.” Jinxia said while giggling.

At noon, the weather became very hot. They finally found a restaurant to rest, the menu in the restaurant only served fried pancakes and forest rabbit meat. The cooking was rough, not to mention the girl, Chun Yumin, even the old lady and maids weren’t satisfied with the food.

Seeing that his younger cousin couldn’t swallow the food, Lu Yi ordered the restaurant to cook some vegetables. Jinxia was bored just looking at the scene. She took a fried pancake and went to sit outside of the restaurant, chewing her pancake while watching the servants feed the horses. Not long after, she swallowed her whole pancake, not caring about the taste, as long as it filled her stomach.

After finishing feeding the horses, the two servants passed by Jinxia and entered the restaurant. Jinxia turned her head to look at them and slightly frowned.

A rabbit leg was handed over.

“Rabbit meat is a bit old, but you should eat a little.” YangYue said.

Jinxia shook her head, “You just eat it while it’s hot, I can’t swallow it…You see those two servants?”

YangYue did not force her,  pulled his hand back and nodded his head, “Yes, are they the housekeepers?”

“Not ordinary housekeepers,” Jinxia frowned, “Look at the way they walk, do they look like servants?”

“Perhaps servants from a big family are different, more elegant. Besides, it’s reasonable for Chun Yunmin to have a few servants with kung fu skills to protect her.” YangYue turned around to look, “Why? Do you have any suspicions about them?”

“They just don’t feel like servants… Later, remember to bring this up to Lu Daren so he will pay more attention to them.” Jinxia reminded him.

YangYue nodded his head.

While they were talking, there were people walking towards them. As soon as she turned her head, she discovered it was Lu Yi with Chu Yumin following him from behind.

Lu Yi gave an order to YangYue, “Miss Chun Yu is slightly weak due to the bumpy rides and bad food. I remember your cooking skills are very good. Can you cook a few dishes so that she can eat?”

“Daren praises me too much. Beizhe is just worried about being in mountains like this, the ingredients for food…” YangYue answered awkwardly.

“Just go look in the kitchen first, no need for luxurious food, as long as it’s good.” Lu Yi continued to talk gently.

YangYue couldn’t help but agree.

Jinxia was now left alone. She continued to look at the two of them, but Lu Yi didn’t say anything.

“Uh… Even housewives can’t cook without rice. If  Dayang’s cooking isn’t good later, I hope you won’t blame him.” Jinxia smiled at Chun Yumin, “Hope Miss Chun will be also forgiving.”

Chun Yumin laughed warmly. “What are you talking about Miss Yuan? I am troubling you, so I should be the one apologizing.”

Flattering people was Jinxia’s specialty, hence she laughed right away, “The bumpy mountain road is difficult to pass, the day is also hot, no wonder Miss Chun doesn’t have an appetite.”

“You’re a constable, everyday running here and there. It must be very difficult, right?” Chun Yumin asked.

“It’s the job, everything must be done according to the expectations.” Jinxia laughed,  “Actually, this whole trip has been pretty smooth, if it rains a lot, then it will be even more difficult.”

Just as she finished her words, the sound of thunder could be heard in the far distance.

Lu Yi tilted his head to glance at her then, without saying anything, he turned around and went back inside. Chun Yumin smiled and followed him.

Jinxia squinted her eyes, placing her hands over her eyes to cover the sun: looking into the distance, she stared at the dark big clouds.

“Thunder doesn’t necessarily mean rain.” She muttered.

After eating the vegetable dishes cooked by YangYue, the group returned to their journey.  They’d just travelled for less than half an hour when heavy rain fell over them. The roads up the mountain were getting muddy, more difficult to walk on. The horse carriages went straight into the mud puddle, but because Jinxia’s horse carriage carried the gifts and A’Rui, her horse sank the deepest in it.

Jinxia and YangYue were busy laying thick blankets under the wheels and then pushing the carriage, still there was a hole extremely difficult to pass. Fortunately, Lu Yi ordered one of the servants from the front to help them and the journey continued.

Aside from their horse carriage, other carriages were also unlucky, even Lu Yi had to step in to push the carriage. Except for Chun Yumin, since Lu Yi wouldn’t let her down, everyone of them was drenched by the rain.

Finally, in the afternoon, they arrived in the city. As soon as they entered the inn, everyone went to their room first to clean and change their clothes.

Jinxia changed into a clean outfit. She was in the process of wiping her wet hair when someone knocked on the door. After opening the door, she was dumbfounded for a moment – Lu Yi, who had changed into a bamboo green outfit, was standing in front of her room.

“Daren…”

She was about to ask if he had any orders for her, but remembered all of a sudden what she had to tell him, hence she quickly pulled him inside and closed the door behind him.

Looking at her half wet hair and her being nervous while closing the door, Lu Yi curiously watched her.

“Daren, I have something to tell you.” Jinxia said, “Don’t know if Da Yang’s already told you, but the two servants brought by Miss Chun Yumin are a bit odd.”

“What’s weird about them?” He asked slowly. Upon hearing what the problem was, Lu Yi’s interest had immediately decreased.

“They are unordinary servants with high kung fu skills. Today, when one of them was helping me push the carriage, his power was much stronger than mine. They can’t be simple servants with this kung fu skills.”

“Then, who do you think they are?”

Jinxia frowned and said, anxious, “If they’re not like me, then maybe they’re like A’Rui? Yan ShiFan’s people?”

Lu Yi sighed and remained silent for a moment, then said, “I will pay attention to them… Have you been thinking about this all day?”

“Of course, the more I think about it, the more I become suspicious of them. Daren, you must be careful.” After finishing talking, Jinxia finally realized Lu Yi was holding a bowl of soup in his hand, “This is ginger soup?”

“Mhm.” Lu Yi nodded.

“Daren, you’re offering me ginger soup? You’re so nice, how…”

Jinxia was full of joy, saying all flattering words. She was about to take the bowl from his hands, but Lu Yi dodge her hand.

“It’s not for you, but go give this to Chun Yumin on my behalf. She’s a lady, it’s not appropriate for me to go to her room.” Lu Yi gave orders, “Hurry up and go give it to her while it’s still hot.”

“Beizhe understands.”

‘We’re both girls, but with different statuses, like moon and mud.’ Jinxia sighed without being noticed, then she rolled up her half wet hair, took the bowl from Lu Yi’s hands and went to Miss Chun’s.

When she returned to her room, Lu Yi was gone, but there was a bowl of steaming hot ginger soup lying on the table. She stared at it for a while, thinking that maybe it had been left by YangYue.

“Family is always better.” Even though she thought that, in her heart she still couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.
