“Jinxia!” YangYue turned around, quickly blocked the katana sword, and supported Jinxia up while feeling extremely anxious.

Because the flying weapons were smeared with poison, Jinxia felt that her limbs were getting numb. There were a lot of people rushing towards them, it was impossible for her to escape with YangYue.

YangYue didn’t think much, but he quickly carried Jinxia on his back, dodging all the attacks that were coming towards them and kicking the two people blocking his way, then rushed toward them with his sword.

“Da Yang, let me down! You just go back and report!” Jinxia said in panic, “If you continue to bring me with you, we will both die!”

YangYue didn’t bother listening to her. He just held his sword tightly, only listening to the sound of blades and flying weapons slashing against each other.

The Japanese Ronin’s face was dripping with blood. He lunged at YangYue wielding his katana and the sharp tip of his sword almost hit YangYue’s head, when a bamboo branch came flying in from an unknown direction, knocking down several Japanese including the Ronin.

YangYue didn’t have enough time to raise his head to see what was happening, when a horse carriage arrived at full speed and someone shouted, “Get on!”

In that situation, they didn’t bother to think. YangYue got on the carriage at once carrying Jinxia with him. At the same time, Jinxia’s voice called out happily,“Uncle! Why are you here?”

The beggar uncle did not have time to respond to her; he grabbed the rope and said, “Sit tight!”

In his hands were several stones; he threw them at the people who were blocking their way. In an instant, the horse carriage successfully escaped.

The Japanese wanted to shoot the flying weapons at the carriage but they were stopped by the group leader, who shouted in panic, “Don’t move! My wife and child are in the carriage!”

YangYue put Jinxia down and she recognized Mrs. Shen right away. “Aunt, it’s really good to see you again!” Beside them, there were a woman and a child, hugging each other tightly.

“Since when do you have an aunt?” YangYue said in surprise.

“Stop talking, quickly greet my aunt.” Jinxia said with a pale face.

YangYue raised his hands and said, “Thank you, Seniors, for helping us.”

Mrs. Shen smiled a little. Then, she checked Jinxia’s wound, expertly pulling out the weapon. She then applied the medicine on the wound and fed Jinxia the medicine. Everything was done with extreme precision, one step at the time, the rocking carriage did not bother her at all.

“Auntie, who are they?”

Jinxia drank a little water, then pointed toward the woman and child.

Mrs. Shen said, “She is from the village. Yesterday, her child was bitten by a snake, we happened to pass by here, so we went ahead and treated the child. It’s such a coincidence, meeting you here today.”

They heard the sound of a horse running. YangYue lifted the curtain and saw the group leader chasing after them with an anxious face. Strangely, there was no one else behind him.

Mrs. Shen took a look and said to the woman, “Your husband is chasing us but don’t worry, I will let you off near the gate.”

The woman nodded, there seemed to be a plea in her eyes but she did not dare to say anything.

“The child’s life has escaped death and this is the medicine. Everyday, grind half a capsule and apply it on the wound, continue treating it until the swelling goes down.” Mrs. Shen handed over the bag of medicine.

The woman thanked her again.

Although Jinxia was injured, she couldn’t help but be curious, “In your village, those men are pirates, do you know that?”

“Several years ago, the men went overseas to look for jobs. At first, they didn’t tell us anything, so we didn’t know what work they’d accepted, we only knew that they were making money. Only later, we found out they were following Boss Wang down to the sea. No family dared to tell outsiders, if anyone asked, we could only say they were traders.” The woman said in a low voice.

“They kidnapped Xia Zheng, do you know about it?”

The woman shook her head, “Who is Xia Zheng?”

YangYue sighed and said, “This kind of thing, they will definitely not tell just anyone.”

The city gates quickly appeared in front of them. The beggar uncle stopped the carriage and the group leader that was chasing them did not dare to approach. He only stopped at a safe distance and watched toward the carriage.

“Soldiers will soon arrive. All the women and children should find a place to hide.” Jinxia couldn’t bear to not tell them about the situation.

The look in the woman’s eyes was full of worries but she still nodded her head. After getting off the carriage, she carried her son to bow to Mrs. Shen, then slowly stepped toward her husband. The group leader quickly got off the horse and ran toward them.

In the carriage, Jinxia popped her head out to take a look, sighed and said to YangYue, “The men in the village became pirates, nobody probably wanted this. Today, we really fell in the den of thieves.”

Remembering the scene, YangYue felt chills down his back, “Next time you say you want to take a look, I won’t believe you anymore.”

While the two of them were talking, they heard outside a very familiar voice, “Seniors, have you seen a girl named Jinxia?”

Upon hearing the voice, Jinxia immediately closed her eyes, tilted her head and pretended to be fainted. YangYue gave her a quick and annoyed glance, then lifted the curtain and jumped out, saluting, “Lu Daren, we are here.”

Lu Yi noticed the motionless Jinxia on the carriage, couldn’t help but hide the worry in his voice, “What happened to her?”

Mrs. Shen said, “A little wound on the leg. Thankfully, no injury to the bones.”

“What happened?” Lu Yi looked at YangYue. His tone of voice sounded as if he wanted to hold YangYue accountable.

“We… We were…”

“My dear niece lost her luck and almost lost her life. Yet you’re standing here wanting to scold people?” As soon as the beggar uncle opened his mouth, he reprimanded him but also tried to calm him, “Hurry up, let’s go in the city and find a place to rest.”

Cen Fu, who had seen the scene, stepped forward at once, exclaiming, “Who are you? How dare you be disrespectful to the Young Master?”

“Hey! Where did this kid come from? I was educating my family, who are you to butt in?” The beggar uncle said to Lu Yi, “My dear grandson, you should punish him to sleep in the horse stable, otherwise your grandfather’s annoyance will not be subsided!”

Lu Yi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, of course, he didn’t have the time to explain to Cen Fu and could only pass him the horse rope, “I owe these two seniors a debt of gratitude, don’t be disrespectful.”

Cen Fu received the rope and did not dare to say anything else.

The horse carriage arrived in the city. YangYue did not dare to delay his report and told Lu Yi everything. Lu Yi’s eyebrows furrowed as he listened, then he told Cen Fu to report this to Hu Zongxian at once.

As soon as they arrived at the inn, Lu Yi went straight inside the carriage to take Jinxia out.

The situation was very difficult to explain, therefore Jinxia continued to pretend to be asleep. The beggar uncle glanced at her, “You were quite energetic just now, why did you suddenly faint? It is because of the poison?”

Mrs. Shen smiled and said, “The Ronin poison isn’t as strong.”

Leaning on Lu Yi’s chest and listening to his heartbeat, Jinxia couldn’t help but take a peek at his face expression but when he looked down at her, she quickly closed her eyes again.

“If you’re tired, you can go ahead and sleep. You don’t have to pretend to be tired.” Lu Yi said as he hugged her tighter, unable to hide the emotions in his voice.

“…….” Jinxia took another peek at his face, wondering if he was annoyed.

Once they entered the courtyard, Chun Yumin, who had been waiting for them anxiously, saw Jinxia being carried by Lu Yi. She was shocked, then asked all worried, “Miss. Yuan, what happened? Are you hurt?”

Jinxia felt very embarrassed, trying to get off Lu Yi’s arms, “Let me down, it’s just an external wound.”

In order to prove that she was fine, she limped her way over to Mrs. Shen and said with a bright smile, “Aunty, there is one more injured person. You have to go see him.”

“You sure do have a lot of problems.” The beggar uncle shook his head, “You should get a team of physicians to follow you.”

“Uncle, no one can be a match to my aunt.”

Jinxia pulled Mrs. Shen, to lead her to A’Rui’s room, then she turned to Lu Yi and wanted to say something but didn’t know whether she should or not. ‘This time, my work was quite rewarding, Daren, please be a bigger person and don’t blame me.’

In A’Rui’s room, Mrs. Shen checked his pulse, then took out a silver needle to perform acupuncture. After inserting the needle, it took quite some time for the process to be finished.

“How is he?” Lu Yi asked.

A’Rui continued to stare at Mrs. Shen.

“He can be treated,” Mrs. Shen said simply, “It’s just….”

“Senior, please continue.”

“After being exposed to poison, the flow pathway and circulation suffers a great disturbance, he won’t be perfectly fine even if he recovered from the poison. In order to return to normal, we must perform acupuncture on him everyday, it will help with the flow and circulation. Over a period of time, he will be fine again.”

“How long will it take in order for him to be healthy again?”

“At most, it will take a few days. If we delay or slower the process, it can take up to a month, depending on his body’s condition.”

Lu Yi continued to ask, “Don’t know if it is possible for Senior to stay and treat him…”

“This could be quite a problem.” Mrs. Shen said to him without hesitation, “I left Yangzhou to avoid government officials but now it’s all the same again.”

Earlier, A’Rui’s gaze was filled with hope but as soon as he heard what she said, his expression darkened.

“Aunt…” Jinxia didn’t think that she would immediately refuse.

“But, he’s not a government official. Senior, please reconsider.” Lu Yi added, “I will pay double.”

Mrs. Shen shook her head, turned and said to the beggar uncle, “Let’s go.”

Jinxia limped away over her and grabbed her wrist. She said with an imploring tone: “Aunt, aunt….Wait.”

“Your wound! Remember to change the medicine twice a day, until it’s fully healed.” Mrs. Shen stopped and looked at Jinxia, “You know, you don’t owe me a debt of gratitude. Wanting to save whoever, it’s entirely my own decision.”

“Of course, of course, of course, auntie. We will listen to whatever you say.” Jinxia escorted her out laughing. While they were walking, she said, “Aunt, we will listen to whatever you say and as Juniors, of course, we won’t argue with you. My life and Da Yang’s were saved by you and uncle today, please give us this chance to thank you. Da Yang is a very good cook. For my sake, please have a meal with us. Uncle, you love drinking wine, don’t you?”

Mrs. Shen glanced at the beggar uncle briefly.

The uncle beggar put on a caring yet worrying look, saying, “I’ll listen to whatever you say… What wine? I don’t drink wine!”

Mrs. Shen couldn’t help but laugh, doing so for a while.

Jinxia took the opportunity and kicked YangYue, who understood the situation right away and said in haste,“Seniors, please have a seat, I will go cook right away, it will be very quick.” Once he’d finished saying that, he quickly ran to the kitchen.

“We will leave after we finish eating.” Mrs. Shen said.

“Of course, of course. Aunty, please sit down, I’ll make some tea.” Jinxia said.

Mrs. Shen tugged on her impatiently, “Don’t cause trouble or your wound will open again, then we have to treat it again.”

Jinxia gritted her teeth, “It looks like it’s torn open.”

Mrs. Shen had to treat her wound from scratch, then Lu Yi came and took her back to her room.

He placed her on the bed and slowly sighed. Even though he knew that the wound had been treated by Mrs. Shen and there would be no occurring problem, he was still considering what YangYue had told him earlier regarding what had happened today. Just the thought of what would have happened if they hadn’t met the beggar uncle… He didn’t dare to continue his thought any further.

In Jinxia’s mind, she was still thinking about how to make Mrs. Shen stay. “About Mrs. Shen’s problem, what should we do?”

“I don’t know what about it but about the fact that you traveled by yourself in secret, I will deduct your salary for it.” Lu Yi said slowly.

Jinxia replied with dissatisfaction, “Brother, can you not talk about money? You’re hurting my feelings.”

Lu Yi walked closer to her, so close that she could count his eyelashes. In a low voice, he said to her, “Can you listen to me more?” When he said this, there was a layer of wetness in his eyes. As soon as Jinxia saw that, her heart immediately felt uneasy.

“You’re really worried about me, aren’t you?” She asked.

Although she didn’t know why Lu Yi liked her all this time, she had always thought he wasn’t serious and only wanted to play around with her. On top of that, Lu Yi would always tease and ridicule her… Therefore, right now, she was surprised to see him so worried about her.

Lu Yi didn’t say anything, slightly stepping back a little and gently brushing the leftover hair on her forehead.

“Don’t worry, I am a very lucky person, didn’t I tell you this before? I have the deities looking down on me, bad luck will become good fortune, dangerous situations will become…” Looking at his face, Jinxia suddenly felt guilty… She so wanted Lu Yi to scold her fiercely so that she could try to calm him down.

Hearing her words, Lu Yi smiled a little. After a while, he said, “Do it for my sake, be more careful, think twice before you do anything, can you do it?”

“Yes.” It was very rare for him to speak with such tenderness. All of a sudden, Jinxia felt sad.

Lu Yi took a deep breath, wanting to get rid of all the uneasy feelings in his heart.

Jinxia quickly changed the subject and said, “Mrs. Shen doesn’t want to stay and treat A’Rui, what should we do?”

“She wants to keep her distance from government officials, there’s not much we can do.”

“Brother, you’re a JinYiWei, a 4th rank representative of the palace, how can you say there’s no way?”

“I still owe a debt of gratitude to Mrs. Shen,” Lu Yi sighed, “The way JinYiWei works, I don’t want to use those methods.”

“If my uncle speaks on our behalf, maybe Mrs. Shen will listen.” Jinxia said awkwardly, “Just don’t know if he is willing to help or not. Oh yes, at that time, my uncle helped you because you were his grandson. Maybe we can say A’Rui is your adoptive brother…”

Lu Yi looked at her and, a few moments later, said, “I thank you on behalf of my family.”
