Considering that she was outnumbered right now, it was better for her to avoid confrontation.

Huo Yunting saw the entire exchange from inside Lu Zhaoyang's room. His eyes flashed dangerously.

Suddenly, one of the maidservants threw an iron rake at her. The maidservant demanded loudly that Lu Zhaoyang start working and that it was part of her duties.

Lu Zhaoyang took one look at the rake and then walked over it. She left the maidservants without batting an eyelid.

Huo Yunting finally felt a little satisfied with the woman. At least she knew not to give in.

Knowing that she was returning to her room, Huo Yunting promptly left.

Lu Zhaoyang slowly walked back inside, but the incident with the maidservants still bothered her.

She did not want to stay in her room, but going outside was also not an option. She felt useless staying here, but old Mrs Huo would not allow her to leave.

What could she do…

Abruptly, she stopped walking and looked up at the sun, which did not bring much warmth today.

Everything around her shone brightly from the sunlight, but she felt like a stain instead.

Without her, her mother would not have to worry about being exiled from the Huo family, while Chen would never have committed such a huge mistake. In the end, she seemed to be the cause of all this trouble.

The sun was still shining brightly. Lu Zhaoyang averted her gaze and put her freezing hands into her pockets as she picked up her pace.

She was just outside the living room when she heard a familiar voice from inside.

It was Huo Yunting!

Why was he here? When did he arrive?

She had no idea.

Lu Zhaoyang gathered herself and buried all the resentment deep inside her before she entered the living room with affected calmness.

Huo Yunting was speaking with his characteristic lazy voice, "Grandma, I'm so busy at the office these days. If that sister of mine has nothing else to do at home, can I have her come back to help me?"

Before old Mrs Huo could respond, she noticed that Lu Zhaoyang had come in. The old woman scolded, "What's with your attitude? Are you not even greeting me now?!"

Lu Zhaoyang found that she was damned either way.

She would have greeted old Mrs Huo no matter how unwilling she felt, but Huo Yunting's presence had rattled her.

"Madam, I'll be in my room." She greeted politely.

Huo Yunting noticed that she had changed the way she addressed his grandmother. It had usually been "grandma".

Lu Zhaoyang barely moved when old Mrs Huo yelled, "What are you leaving for? Come here!"

She stayed where she was and ignored Huo Yunting entirely.

Huo Yunting acted the same and did not give her much attention. He lounged on the sofa sluggishly and said, "Grandma, I couldn't even find time to eat these days. Look at the black circles around my eyes."

"We can't have that. You should eat and take care of yourself. No one can do important work without good health!" Old Mrs Huo was shocked to the darkening circles around his eyes and felt heartbroken for him.

Old Mrs Huo had always spoiled her grandson. She panicked when she heard that he did not even have time for a proper meal.

She threw a glance at Lu Zhaoyang. She would have preferred to keep her in sight at all times, but she was also worried that her grandson would tire himself too much from work.
