83.1 Everyday Fulfillment

By Gandire Alea August 22, 2022

No way, members of the royal family? I had no idea those ojou-sama were also adventurers. I think that, but Ceries-sama should count as an adventurer too.

Then again, even so, her situation is different.

Ceries-sama is Yuusha Ristia’s fiancée. There’s nothing strange about her being an adventurer. As for the twin ojou-sama, they are neither in a position nor have social statuses that would require them to become adventurers. Yet despite that they’ve become adventurers for some reason. Those honorable two really have unprecedented personalities, after all.

They must have gotten their healthy bronzed tans from all the adventures they’ve been on. Ceries-sama herself has clear white skin. Sisters wouldn’t have such different skin tones, otherwise.

Arara, but Ceries-sama has gone on plenty of adventurers with Ristia. Shouldn’t she be just as tanned?

“I’ve heard that the okaa-sama of my onee-sama-kata was also an adventurer. They might have inherited their characters and rare abilities from her.”
“Eetto, could Ceries-sama and the twin ojou-sama have different mothers?”
“That is correct. We siblings all have different mothers, wa.”

Uwawa, I didn’t know that.

“It’s like this, even the yuusha have polygamies. It shouldn’t be anything strange for someone such as the king to have multiple wives, right?” (Slatton)

Putting it like that, that’s true. Slatton’s words make sense. I also already have two bridal candidates. A king having many wives and children with each of them really isn’t anything strange.

“As for me, I only have eyes for Cleisio, ze. Cleisiooo!”

“Kyaa, stop it, that’s gross!”
“Gyaah.”

Slatton tries to throw his arms around Cleisio but is kicked in the groin and hunches over.

Yep, you reap what you sow.

The exchange between Slaton and Cleisio finally brings a smile back to Ceries-sama’s face.

“So then, what were you really doing in that room?” (Ristia?)
“Yeah?”

And the conversation returns to that topic.

“Eetto, really, I didn’t do anything. I was only just being pressed by the twin ojou-sama.”
“Really? While those two do have that kind of personality, they still more or less have the awareness of being princesses. I don’t believe they would recklessly or indiscriminately approach a man like that.”

Ristia gives me a meaningful look. He seems to have a vague idea that I am hiding something, but he isn’t pushing too hard. I get the feeling he is waiting for me to tell him.

I’m sorry, Ristia. I’ll surely tell you the truth too, one day. That’s why, put up with it for just a bit longer, okay?

One day, I will introduce Mistral to everyone. She is a really incredible girl while Ristia and everyone else are also splendid friends. So, it would be great if they all could get along with each other.

Unfortunately, I don’t think now is the time. This secret is just way too big to reveal before my departure.

Mistral, she is the Dragon Princess of the Dragon Tribesmen.
The Dragon Forest. The sprit tree and Old Sleigstar. There’s the village of the Long Ear Tribe and Priscilla-chan. And Nymia too.

After all of them is Ruiseine. Kiiri and Inea already know all about her, so I doubt there is anything to hide.

Aah, but we are keeping her dragon eyes a secret from everyone else.

The secrets I am hiding aren’t something I can decide to share on my own. That’s why, for now, while I do feel bad about it, all I can do is keep them from Ristia and everyone else.

Ristia stares at me, jii, and maybe he can guess what I’m feeling, but his expression crumbles.

“Well, it’s fine. Nothing good ever turns up in a conversation involving those two. Just tell me once you can talk about it.”
“Su- Sure.”

I am overjoyed by Ristia’s consideration. Slatton and Ceries-sama might have been swayed by that exchange just now. Neither of them pressure me any longer.

Afterwards, we have a blast in that room. In my opinion, it’s way too late to rejoin the tea party. Slatton has also had enough of it and shows it with a sigh. For people who are still young like us, that tea party which could serve as a marriage meeting interview is just too excessive.

We pass our time carefree in that room until evening. That is when we decide to take the carriage back to Ristia’s house. Many people try to detain Ristia and Ceries-sama, but the two gently refuse their invitations. I too am wary of being approached by the twin ojou-sama, but I don’t catch sight of them.

Maybe they gave up?

Once I am at Ristia’s estate, I change back into my clothes, am given some souvenirs, and go back to my home. Incidentally, I leave the splendid clothes I wore to the tea party in Ristia’s care. There is no way we’d be able to properly care for them at my home. They’d end up ruined.

The next day, everyone at school is jealous I got to participate at the tea party. They don’t mind that Ristia and the Yuusha-sama’s honorable party attended, they are dissatisfied that the foolish me got to go.

Everyone’s criticism is really harsh.

Furthermore, the shrine maidens Kiiri, Inea, and Ruiseine give resentment filled stares to all of us who attended the tea party. As shrine maidens, they aren’t allowed to attend festivities like tea parties. That is a strict precept that doesn’t change even with marriage.

I stress over comforting Ruiseine while Ristia does the same with Kiiri and Inea.

Once the first half of our lessons end, we part with the shrine maidens and proceed to the training grounds.

Not long remains until our day of departure. My classmates who aim to become independent by becoming adventurers began more earnestly practicing their martial arts with the start of the new year.

I, naturally, watch them all from the side while getting ready for my meditation.

Now, let’s meditate. Right when I think that, I feel some stares.

I secretly look in on my surroundings and discover Cleisio practicing her magic nearby. Ristia and Neimii are watching me with growing interest from far off.

Looks like they’ve noticed my meditation isn’t normal.

To begin with, I was told last summer that they felt something strange about my meditation. Then, there is the issue with the twin ojou-sama showing an extraordinary amount of interest in me. All of that must have made them even more curious about me.

With that being how it is, Ceries-sama is also keeping an eye on me now. She might find out that I have dragon power.

This is a problem. What should I do to get past this?
For now, I’ll just keep my eyes closed and remain in my usual meditative posture like always.

But now what?

Even though I am just sitting with my eyes closed, I automatically begin to meditate.

I suppose this is the outcome of diligent training.
Not good, not good.
Ceries-sama will find out at this rate.

T/N: And here is the next part. In other news, I finished the first volume of a book I am writing. It’s only the 2nd draft though, so it still needs a lot of rereading and editing. I am happy with it though. It’s much better than my previous attempt at a long novel.
