Witch, Open Your Eyes Chapter 68: Fifth Night Part Three

Un-edited so please don’t kill me if you find anything wrong, please gently commenting so I can fix it. Thank you.

Fang Daichuan was firmly blocked by Li Sinian and he couldn’t see anything, so he couldn’t help but feel anxious.

“Why are you blocking the door?! What’s inside?” Fang Daichuan asked in a low voice behind him.

Li Sinian tried his best to keep his voice steady and coaxed him: “There’s nothing inside, Sister Chuan, be obedient and take two steps back.”

Although Fang Daichuan was puzzled, he trusted Li Sinian so much that before his brain fully registered, his body obediently took two steps back.

Li Sinian closed the door before his eyes.

With a “click”, Li Sinian locked him out.

“Hey!” How could Fang Daichuan guess that he would do this? He pushed his shoulder against the door and slammed frantically, the wound on his shoulder felt so painful but he didn’t care, “What are you doing?! Open the door!!!”

Fang Daichuan shouted madly, hitting the small door frantically.

Li Sinian turned his head to the side and whispered “shh”: “Don’t say anything, Sister Chuan, there are ghosts inside.”

Fang Daichuan tried his best to control his breathing. He felt like he was drowning, feeling that his chest was firmly pressed. No matter how hard he was breathing, he couldn’t get oxygen.

“I’m not afraid,” he leaned against the door, his fingers trembling spasmodically, he shouted through the door in a small gasp, “You open the door, I want to be with you.”

Li Sinian ignored him as he leaned his back against the door, staring at the dark figure and rolling up his sleeves.

“I don’t know who you are,” Li Sinian whispered, “but if you’re here for revenge, leave that man outside the door.”

The dark figure sat peacefully at the table, their back to him, motionless, even the fire in front of them was quiet.

“I’ve killed a lot of people,” Li Sinian sneered, approaching him slowly and testily, “if you die here, don’t blame me in the afterlife.”

The room was small, too cramped to fit anything but a table, a chair and a safe in the corner.

The person was sitting in the chair, most of their body hidden in the shadows where the candlelight could not reach.

Fang Daichuan’s heavy breathing was audible outside the door.

“Playing tricks.”

It was quiet inside. Fang Daichuan leaned back against the wall, his mind in a terrible mess.

“Li Sinian ……” he whispered in a low voice, as if he were casting a spell, “you fucking bastard.”

“Click”.

The door sprang open.

Fang Daichuan stood up straight and clenched his fists.

The door was slowly pushed open, the light from the candlestick infiltrated into the room through the opening little by little. Fang Daichuan’s eyelashes trembled as he stared at the door.

At the doorway, a tall figure slowly emerged. He lowered his head and his face was pale.

Fang Daichuan’s eyes were sore and red. It was Li Sinian. Li Sinian opened the door and slowly walked out of the shadows, his expression was ugly, he took a deep breath and said, “It’s not a ghost, it’s the beer belly’s corpse, remember, the one that disappeared? The candlelight was too dim, I didn’t see the shadow on the ground. I made a mistake.”

Fang Daichuan did not respond to him.

“Never do this again.” He stood directly opposite Li Sinian, staring at him with burning eyes, his lips pursed in a very serious manner that even looked a little oppressive.

Li Sinian was startled.

“Who the hell cares whose corpse it is, the great me don’t care.” Fang Daichuan said solemnly, “I said, never do this again. No matter what is there, no matter how dangerous it is, I want to be by your side. There’s no such thing as locking me out and dealing with the danger yourself, never do this again” ——The tone was firm.

(T/N : Alright so I don’t know if you noticed, but I feel I should give a note about how much Chuan’er seems to be cursing in this novel. Remember in chapter 7, Chuan’er said, Deng-ge told him to always be polite? So that is why before chapter 19, if I remember right you will see that Chuan’er only starts cursing in chapter 19 [again if I remember right] and even that is a polite word, basically like ‘pardon my French’, you know what I mean. However after that, well, he no longer censored his cursing. So yeah, I did not make a note on chapter 19 about Chuan’er using ‘censored cursing version’ because I don’t want to make too many notes. However I want to make notes here so you, the reader, can understand Chuan’er’s change. Also using ‘the great me’ can be considered arrogant and Chuan’er rarely used it, so again, yeah, he is totally seriously angry here.)

Li Sinian looked at him dumbfounded. There were red marks under his eyes, his forehead dripping with cold sweat, dripping down the side of his face and the bridge of his nose, he looked as if he had been saved from the sea after drowning. Li Sinian felt a little uncomfortable. He wiped the sweat on Fang Daichuan’s forehead and defended in a low voice, “I’m worried that you will be scared…”

He was talking halfway through and couldn’t continue. ——Even when he was most afraid, Fang Daichuan’s reaction was not so intense but now his face was pale and he was sweating heavily.

Does the thought of losing me bring you more fear than danger and ghosts? Li Sinian’s eyes instantly went blank and he stopped trying to explain.

“I won’t do this again,” Li Sinian said automatically as he opened his arms and said, “Cross my heart.”

Fang Daichuan observed his expression and confirmed that he was telling the truth, jumped then wrapped his right arm on Li Sinian’s shoulder. The feeling of danger and fear were instantly pulled away and he felt the huge sense of security touching the warm flesh. Fang Daichuan’s arms trembled slightly.

The two settled their emotions for a moment and then slowly separated.

Their relationship right now is a little ambiguous, it is more than friends but not a lover.

Fang Daichuan sniffed, lowered his head and said, “What did you just say, beer belly’s corpse?” He was now detached from his emotions, and his awe inspiring momentum disappeared and the whole person became easy-going and obedient again. .

“It’s for me.” Li Sinian sneered, clenched his fingers and pushed open the door.

The corpse was kicked to the ground by him. After so many days of death, the joints were brittle, and it was tilted to one side in a strange posture.

After confirming that it was a human being and not a ghost, Fang Daichuan was much more courageous. He stepped forward and turned the body over.

It is really a beer belly. After being buried in the high temperature seaside for a few days, the corpse had already rotted beyond repair. It was just wrapped in layers of black cloaks and the smell did not escape. Now that he was kicked by Li Sinian and turned over by him again, the smell of decaying human corpses come in his face makes Fang Daichuan almost vomit.

“How did he get up here?” Fang Daichuan covered his nose and wondered, “Yang Song said he saw a ghost, is it this?”

Li Sinian moved to the table and observed the candlesticks on the table.

The candle was about to burn out and the wax tears accumulated in the sconce*, when it couldn’t hold anymore, it flowed out and spread out on the table making a mess.

“The corpse was moved last night at the latest and the day before yesterday at the earliest,” Li Sinian said, pointing to the candlestick on the table, “The power on the villa is out on the fourth day, before that, there is no need to use the candlestick. For such thick candles to burn out, at least they were lit last night.”

“Could it be Yang Song?” Fang Daichuan shivered.

Li Sinian shook his head: “It would be difficult for Yang Song to carry such a heavy corpse alone.”

Could that be Du Wei? From the fourth day, only the two of them and Du Wei the only male left. Fang Daichuan thought about it, but didn’t ask aloud. Even if he knew who had moved it, what could be done? So many people had died and it was already good enough that they were still living, so who cares about corpses at this moment?

Li Sinian went to the corner to open the safe. Yang Song obviously didn’t go inside the room. She probably saw the body and ran downstairs in fright.

Fang Daichuan rummaging through the cloak that wrapped around the corpse.

The body was still wearing the clothes from the first day, Fang Daichuan felt his pocket and found a thin card. He lifted the other’s thigh with difficulty and took the card out of the dead man’s trouser pocket.

A character card, the same old yellow parchment paper, surrounded by alfalfa* flowers, with ink-mark-like circle in the middle, inscribed in cursive characters: Villager*.

(T/N : 村民[cūn mín])

Fang Daichuan looked down at the card blankly, turned it over several times. He thought of something and his whole body jolted.

(T/N :

Chuan’er : No matter what is there, no matter how dangerous it is, I want to be by your side.

Me : … o(≧∇≦o)
